2017 Edge wants to stall in Drive/Reverse

I have a weird issue where the car will stumble and stall in D or R, but in neutral and park its perfectly fine. I had the P0456 and P1450 codes so I replaced the evap purge valve. My car has 194k miles and I find that I have to replace this valve every 80k miles or so. Anyhow, this time around I replaced the purge valve and it did NOT fix the issue. Someone had me check out the vapor canister vent valve as well, that did not fix my issue. Any ideas? My gut tells me it's fueling related because the car smells like gas when I put it in D or R.

So i ended up running the tests that livernois has on their handheld and I saw a P1116 code. I spent 7-8 hours tearing the car apart to get to the coolant temp sensor and replace it.  I ended up breaking the tiny overflow line so I'm just waiting on that to come in to button the car up.

What did you use to read the codes previously?

Livernois handheld flasher. The one you use to tune the car.

I doubt that a bad coolant sensor would result in the symptoms you describe.

It's a stretch for sure, but in my BMW a coolant temp sensor going will cause these exact symptoms.

I made the mistake of using an Autozone purge valve and I've had them replace it under the lifetime warranty 4 times. Maybe you installed a defective purge valve.

I unfortunately have been around this a bunch. I've been through 4 different purge valves, 2 of them being direct from ford.

Right now I'm still waiting on a coolant line to come in and it won't be until Tuesday. So thats when I'll find out if the car is still acting like a fool.  If it it's I'm going to drive it until I get some codes.
