@garycrist that video shows the RDU type in my 2017 and don't believe it has any bearing on this discussion.

 

I have changed the RDU oil in mine and its regular gear oil which I don't believe will work in the RDU for the model/year Edge discussed in this thread.

When the "Big Wigs" @ Gm fought bankrupcy a few years ago, one of the "Bean Counters' tried to kill the Corvette line.

That was until they found out sales of Corvette parts far outstrip car sales IIRC adding$100 or more million per year PROFIT.

The edits as far as I can tell relate to the RDU in the video, which is the type found in my 2017 Sport, but don't believe its relative to the RDU being discussed in this thread.

I thought the RDUs  were basically the same. With a coupler bolted to about a 7.5 inch differential.

I changed the PTU oil this afternoon, like the RDU it was a piece of cake. If you have a stubby 3/8" ratchet it will help to get the fill plug out but it's not necessary. The oil was a light pancake syrup color and smelled just like gear oil. I put Valvoline Advanced Pure Synthetic 75w-85 in and it was lighter than what came out but not by a lot.

I changed the PTU and he other week, used the Redline 75w85 GL-5. 
No drain plug or cooler, so I drained it by removing the block off plate where the cooler should be. 
It looked fairly clean but smelled real bad (even for gear oil). 
I still need to do the RDU, have the Redline MT-LV 70W/75W GL-4 on the shelf waiting.

I changed the RDU fluid, and the rumbling noise is gone! It's hard to believe just a simple fluid change would do it, but it did.

I am getting ready to change my PTU and RDU fluid at 15K. Using Redline for both. My PTU does have the cooler, but looks pretty straight forward. I hope!
