Bleading_Edge
P Purchased an Edge last week, love everrything about it except two things (one may cause us to sell the car)Panoramic roof the vent may only be used with the shades open!!!??? rendering the vent useless while car is parked in 80 degree heat + I am seeking a work around via a sunroof specialist. If anyone knows a fix let us know please. Too soft ride and too highEibach and H&R have lowering kits. I will use the Eibach kit to drop it 2". Love everything else so far! :shades: Edited July 4, 2007 by Bleading_Edge
818EDGE
That is what made us stay away from the panorama roof. It would be nice to have more options on it. We would have loved to open just the front and leave the rear closed to keep the sun off of the baby in back. Nice to see someone else from LA on here. Where about are you? szone
Canoga Park Edge & BAMF & it's just what the Doc ordered.
Biff215
I read another thread that mentioned the heat problem. Is the issue mainly occurring with the darker exterior/interior colors? We have the Creme Brulee with Camel interior, and it has stayed rather cool in the heat (90's recently). It's a little warm inside, but no worse than my tan F-150, plus it cools down much quicker. Just wondering what others are experiencing, we love the BAMR!
Bryce
I dunno... it was damn hot in Atlanta today... High of 97 and 60% humidity (heat index made it feel like 104). Our edge baked in the sun from 8am until 5pm (it was 95 and the heat index made it feel like 103)... I jumped in, turned on the AC put the BAMR on rear tilt/vent and by the time I got out of our parking lot (about 200 people in my bldg all leaving at once) and it was fine. If you know someone with an IR temp gun, have them shoot it down the ducts of your Edge after the AC's been on for a while and see if it's putting out cold air.. ours got as low as 32 deg at one point, so it has no issue colling us off. also make sure that you are recirculating your air and not using fresh, so it cool cold air rather than hot outside air. We have a copper Edge with charcoal interior, by the way. On the other hand, my 6yo F-250 that probably is over due to have a recharge on the AC unit seemed like it wasn't doing jack in the same heat yesterday. It's got no sunroof and light interior with dark green paint. Bryce

CremeEdge
Creme with Camel interior & BAMR - in Cincinnati 99+ humidity. Wish I could use the vent with the sunshield, but leaving the four windows open about an inch helped. Also ugly silver thing in the windshield. I'll let you know thou, it's supposed to be 107 today, and there is NO SHADE in the lot where I park. I agree the camel interior with the Creme exterior does stay cooler, even than my 99 Taurus gold with camel leather. It's even been too hot to drive with the sunshields open, even after dark! But then, I love winter!!!!
007
Didn't you test drive the vehicle before you bought?? Didn't you try everything out and ask questions from your sales rep.? You must have noticed the height of the Edge from the outside...and, if you test drove one, you knew how the handling/ride was....if you did, then why the crying? If you didn't, then it's your own fault.

If you read the entire post, you would know, there is no crying. My wife bought the car for our winter home, so I didn't test drive it , I can fix it however, even the moronic design of the roof. HokieOnTheEdge
Oh, excuse me...."the winter home" ...... I do beg your pardon..... LOL! I do somewhat agree with 007. Not that you were crying, you're simply stating what you don't like. On the other hand, I think you can easily live with the way the BAMR operates. I don't have to crack windows in mine. It was 104 degrees here Wednesday (that's not a heat index...that was 118) which means it was probably 150 inside (I'm exaggerating). All I do is open the windows for the first minute or so I'm driving while cranking the AC. Opening the windows cools down the car about 20 degrees almost instantly. By then your AC is cranking out some nice, cold air. Just let it do its job from there. Of course, make sure you have your air set to recirculate. I thought this was common knowledge. I also dont get the other posts where people complain that their AC doesn't blow on their face. I mean, do your AC vents in your house blow in your face? No, they are set to control the overall environment of the area it is cooling. I think the Edge does a great job. It takes me 10 minutes to get home. Five minutes after I am in the car, my AC (set to 75) is already blowing at a slower speed. Edited August 10, 2007 by HokieOnTheEdge

Geez, everything you and the other respondent say are given, foregone conclusions, pure logic! I get that, I simply state the design is myopic at best! And, I dont like it! And I have the capibility of fixing it! Look at the Audi Q7, any of the MBZ that have similar roofs, they all vent with the headliner in the covered position. My Q7 vents with the glass and headliner bending to meet the angle of the glass! Ford blew this one, simple!

Look at the Audi Q7, any of the MBZ that have similar roofs, they all vent with the headliner in the covered position. My Q7 vents with the glass and headliner bending to meet the angle of the glass! Ford blew this one, simple! OK, lets look at it from a design standpoint. 1st. Ford didn't blow it. If it was a solid sun-shield, it would block the rear seat skylight no matter how it's opened. Since it's a fabric roll shade, if the roof glass is left open, it's now potentially exposed to rain. How many warranty claims can you imagine for that? Since your going to pay to have it work the way you want, that's fine, but don't blame Ford for it. As for other manufacturer's, hey, that's comparing Apples to Orange's, isn't it? I personally didn't think anyone else made a 9 sq. ft. moon roof + rear seat sky light. Yes my Exploder would vent like that Mercedes, but the Edge/MKX is a new design. While on new designs, I'd like to vent about no air shocks to support the hood being opened, instead of that prop bar, and no lights in the front foot wells, or glove box lights, Or under the hood. And what happened to the built in ashtray and cigar/cigarette lighter, or light in the center console, etc. I bet Mercedes has all that too. It pissed me off when they took out the vent windows in the last product line to have them, pickup trucks. Then again, I can pick this product line apart too, Why did the number pad have to be installed ON the door panel, instead of the window 'B' pillar? I can tell you that the Lincoln has a remote opening for the Vista Roof. You hold the unlock button for longer than 2 seconds. It seems like nothing is happening, but suddenly both front windows will drop down to their full down position, and then the top will vent open. While it seems nothing is happening, the fabric is retracting to it's full open position. Do I like it? Not really, but that is how it is. For years now, when I know it's not suppose to rain, on a hot day, I like to park and crack all the windows to maybe 1" open. Then the remote open doesn't seem to work. I never understood why so many leave them fully closed, allowing the heat to build up, and shorten the life of the interior components. Theft? Well I bought Insurance, but that won't fully compensate me. Ford now installs a theft deterrent ignition system. IF someone wants my navigation unit, if the windows are up and doors locked, that still won't stop them. Tends to piss them off. So you see that even the top of the line Lincoln still falls deficient in my eyes too, but I still like it, I wish it did have all I want and cost 10G less. The GM, GSM, and the service manager all from the largest Ford dealer in the world said in one way or another, "the design has no logic" Sure, there are work arounds, but it is a piss poor design . The simple fix is to have independent screen rollers. As a precaution for when the poor ignorant Bond wannb leaves his roof open in the rain, skirt the roof (accordian style with the lifting mechanisim) as it opens, enabling the water to drain into the rain gutters (every sunroof is equiped with) to be transported out of the car through the drain tubes in the "A" pilar. Two final points; never blamed anyone for method in which the car was purchased. My wife bought what she liked, found somethings about it she didn't like, and I as any man would do, made it all better for her. The last words of the first post "love everything else so far". So, bond wannab, ya need to get out of the gene pool Edited August 10, 2007 by Bleading_Edge

007
I suppose if one works at the supposed "largest Ford dealer in the world", where ever that might be, makes you a freakin' expert in all things Ford....or, is it a Kalifornia thing....maybe it's just something special for those that have "winter homes" as opposed to "summer homes" or "fall homes"...do you look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself how wonderful you are, or do you have people do that for you??? Also, I don't know where you get this Bond wanna be sh*t....I never said anything about wanting to be a James Bond type.....I enjoy the movies, and I think Daniel Craig is going to make an excellent Bond, right up there with Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and Pierce Brosnan..... I do have a picture of you, bleeding edge....it's very appropriate....enjoy....

818EDGE
Don't blame us California people!!! We are not all like that. My wife and I bought ours from the same dealer Bleading Edge did and they were great. Galpin Ford is the dealship and they are always on the radio about selling the most vehicles in the nation. Its simple with the heat here. Open the friggin windows!! It isn't going to rain (only 3.5" this year) or watch the weather. Research your purchases better and calm down. Its pretty tough to see that huge glass roof and not ask to open and close it to see how it works. That is what turned us off on it. Go figure..... we actually noticed it before we got it home..... Edgy Girl
IMO - Its not the fact that someone is disappointed with the BAMR - I love my BAMR - would absolutely not have an Edge without one. What I am amazed at - is the venom that gets spewed from certain individuals who have differences in opinion, in particular, some one who thinks they are always right (sweetie or bleadinedge) They are entitled to their opinions on their Edges - but wholly smoke, don't you dare disagree with them. You can't even have a civilzed chat with them. Its a forum.. most us are miles away from one another - your opinion, or my opinion should not affect us all that much. We made our choices... and we need to live by them. What others think.. is just that...what they think. 07 MKX
I agree with you Edgy Girl. The price for it, did not enter into my mind when I purchased my vehicle. After the last 5 purchases, I don't worry about the cost of this or that option, If I want it, I get it, I tend to like Light's, Bells and Whistles. Yea, toggle switches also. Definitely, when I show the car to someone, I have to show them the top opening. And Bleeping Edge was wrong about the draining, where he came up with it is just that, something he came up with. Actually, today at work, I walked out to the front of the plant and into a Mustang show, Cobra's, Cyclone's, Parnelli Jones and Salean's, trucks, 50's to 00's. Loveeed that Maroon '69 Mach 1. One thing common to all of the hundred's of cars: Original. No modifications. I do like my cars to be individual to me, not like everyone Else's. Which leads to modifications. Yea, you dropped $5G on new wheels and tires and a 3D carbon kit, but guess what, it means nothing to me, I'll still give you just book value for it. Or you can put the old wheels back on and keep your new ones. Gotta be a generation thing i guess. Sorry, it's an old age regression thing, the way I write. OK, actually I'm preparing myself for old age.
