White Sand Paint Code

Thanks - I will try that - It is driving me nuts not being able to check out the new colours in person.

I have heard Ink Blue is VERY dark, and Ice Blue reminds me of my 85 year old mom's honda!!!!

I am quickly narrowing it down to White Sand but I would sure like to see it before I order.

Was it available on anything (in Canada) other than the Explorer 2007 Limited Edtion?? There is no way I can find one of those!

Hate to burst you bubble but there is no White sand color... I'm a painter OAC and the new colors are Silver (TS) Dark Ink Blue(DI) and a light blue.... there is White Chocolate (PV) which up until now avail to only The MKX.... unless they changed it for the 08 Edge I'll check on it more after the Holiday shutdown........

There is also Creme Brulee (PH) that might be the color your thinking of ... very popular

The order guide does show a White Sand for the 2008 Edge, unless they are using the MKX's White Chocolate and renaming it White Sand for the Edge.

I checked the 2007 Explorer brochure and it does list "white chocoloate tri-coat", but if you go to ford.ca, click on Explorer, build your vehicle, choose Limited for the model, "white sand tri coat definetly is there as a choice (not white chocolate). Same goes if you choose 2007 F150 Harley Davidson.

Not sure how I am going to figure out what this new colour is, so that I can put in an order! There won't be any on the lots here for months and months and they sure did not bring in all the 2007 colours.!! Hate to order a colour sight unseen.

The Edge is using the White Sand for 2008 as well as creme brulee. The complaint was that 2007 did not offer a white or a blue. They added both - too bad one blue is almost black, one blue is almost silver it is so light, and know one can figure out what exactly the "white sand" is.

Interesting - Ford just responded to my e-mail and gave a paint code for White Sand Tri Coat Metallic.

They gave me PV, which you are saying is "White Chocolate Tri-coat. That supports your theory that they are the same colour!!! IF that is the case it makes traking one down a whole lot easier.

Yes, the MKX came in White Chocolate Tri-Coat. That makes sense that they would now offer it in the Edge for 2008 - just like they did the power liftgate!

We may indeed be into the Dodge "In-Violet/Plum Crazy" scenario here.

Two names for the same colour.

Now I just need someone from Ford to confirm and I am ready to order my Edge.

I also notice that usually White sand is listed "White Sand Tri Coat Metallic" and chocolate is listed

White Chocolate Tri Coat (without the name Metallic) at the end.

MMMMM - need to check on that too.

Thanks everyone for helping me figure out all this. It will be 10 years before the dealers can tell me :)

The lady from Ford was kind enough to call me!

White Chocolate and White Sand are the same colour (PV).

One was probably Lincoln and one was Ford.

Dealers should have order info for the 2008 Edge as of July 9.

Scheduling is August 16th and the first Edges will be built starting Sept 17!

Thanks to everyone that helped in figuring this out.

Ford does that a lot. G2 is Vivid Red on the Lincoln MKX but Redfire on the Ford Edge. If it's the same paint code then it should be exactly the same color.

Yes, that threw me for awhile since I hadn't had a Ford product in many years. My MKX is Vivid Red paint code G2 which is the same as the Redfire paint code G2 on the Edge. It would end confusion if they just used the same names across the entire line and if the names are different it is truly a different paint color.

Here is a quote from media.ford.com

Edge offers even more choices for 2008 with the addition of the Limited Series, a new Interior Appearance Package that includes leather-trimmed seats with premium red seating surfaces and contrast stitching, a new 18-inch wheel option and new class-exclusive 20-inch wheels. Four new colors are available for 2008: Vapor Silver Clearcoat Metallic, Light Ice Blue Clearcoat Metallic, Dark Ink Blue Clearcoat Metallic and White Sand Tri-Coat.

Finally found a salesman today that would talk 2008s and not try and sell me a 2007.

He had all the order info except pricing which should be available in a couple of weeks.

The MKX will call PV code White Chocolate and the Edge will refer to PV as White Sand. Either way I should be able to order my White Edge Limited with 20" wheels very soon.

The red accent interior package is available with the red, silver and black edge. Sync is standard with the Limited model.

Thanks to everyone on the forum that helped.

That's because it is NOT a metallic paint, it is a Pearlescent Paint.

I know, That's what my MKX is, and definently get the 20 inch wheels in chrome And Vista Roof. Ditch any roof rack. You'll be styling in White Pearl, chrome and satin black. Sweet.

  • 8 months later...

Yes, White Sand Tri-coat and White Chocolate are the same color. I work for an OEM paint supplier (not DuPont). Ford uses different names for Ford, Mercury and Lincoln colors even though they are the same color.

As for DuPont, you should tell them they need to work on getting the front and rear fascias to match the body paint better.

I just bought a new '08 White Sand Tri-coat Edge. I went to this color because the fascia matches were just atrocious on the Light Blue Ice and Vapor Silver.
