After all the horror stories and lack of positive stories on this Recall, I’m definitely not having this done on our Edge. The whole thing is really weird.
With all of these favorable tariffs for the US into all of these foreign countries,
the only "cheap" super car left is a 5.0 Ford Mustang! Especially since Ford is
campaigning a Mustang Dark Horse in several racing classes.
I wanted to revisit this item as I too have decided to "wait & see" if there were any other members that suffered dire consequences from getting this reprogramming done. If you have had issues not already expressed here please share your experience and what consequences you might have had. Thanks!
I have never believed that changing tranny fluid on a high mileage vehicle
would cause slippage. The normal reason the customer would change the fluid, was
because of problems to begin with. (on high mileage transmission)
Fresh fluid will not hurt the bands, clutches, steels or seals. Nor will it "wash" the friction material
off the clutches or bands too. Most people have no idea what is inside anyway!
It has 75,000 miles on it and the transmission fluid's never been changed. Just normal driving but mostly interstate so haven't been rough on it. Lately I've noticed a slight hunting, jerking, stuttering, whatever you want to call it at low speeds (under 40mph) but only when the transmission isn't up to temperature. Once it warms up it's fine. It's going into the local garage next week for a drain and fill so hopefully that will help.
Watched some videos on YT and a few of them added Instant Shudder Fix. Not planning to add it unless someone here has had some experience with it.
Do you have an extended warranty? Having worked in an auto repair facility, I have seen too many cases where we would refuse to change the ATF (we did not have the flush machine) because of the interval between changes. I am old school. I changed the engine oil at 1K and transmission fluid at 15K. I would have changed the rear differential at 5K, but my Edge is FWD, and I bought the extended warranty.
Welcome to the forum sheshe. I can't help with your issue, but I just wanted to let you know, in case you didn't see it, that you are replying to a thread that is 3 years old, and both of those folks had only 1 post. So you may not see a reply from them. It may be better to start a new thread for your issue, though in this case, someone may come along that may be able to help. Again, welcome to the forum.
As it responded to turning the steering wheel, thats the area I'd suspect. The wiper switch is attached there, its possible that the movment of the steering wheel could be the culprit. If it happens again, try tilting the wheel or juggling your stalk. 🙄
Does it "work" if you put it into the emergency slot in the center console and press the Start button? Work meaning still recognized as a programmed key chip but not for proximity or remote entry?
