A few months back, my wife's '09 MKS would act up on rare occasions - slow starting as if the battery was going bad, then it would be okay for weeks - THEN, one day, it wouldn't start for squat, and got a jump from roadside assistance, and headed right to the dealer. Yes, it was the battery, the car was about 37 months old, and a new battery was installed free of charge, as Lincoln gives 4/50 bumper to bumper. If you are below 3/36, it should be covered under your warranty, and if not, for peace of mind, like akirby said, just go for the new battery, and be set for the next 3+ years.

OOOPS, I guess that I should have mentioned that I checked this after the car had been running for about 25 minutes - a trip to Pep Boys and back. The temp gauge on the dash had the needle at the 1/2 way mark, normal operating temp. Another quirk, is that I can start up in the morning, outside temp around 40, start driving, when the car warms up, the heat start coming out the floor vent, then within a minute or 2, it switches to coming out the center vents, and at a much cooler temp then from the floor register. I am not new to Fords climate control system, have had it since 1991 (92, '96, 98, 01 Tauruses, 93 SHO, '95 '02, '06 Explorers, ;05, '07 Five Hundreds, '09 MKS) all operated as expected. I understand that the air from any outlet will be cooler until the normal operating temp is reached, but after 25 minutes of running, I don't think that the temp shpuld drop down to 52 degrees when switched to front defrost only. Heck, with winter snows approaching, I don't think that I could get much snow to melt off the windshield with a temp of only 52 blowing on it

How about a site for us Lincoln owners MKX & MKS ? Happy New Year to all. Joe

Have had font defroster problems. I went out and bought a infrared thermometer, today was 48 outside, set the inside temp to 70 in auto mode, and got the following results. The passenger seat was 68, lower dash 68.7, floor register reading 74. I changed from "auto" mode to floor/defroster the floor read 73.7, defroster read 73 degrees. Then I changed it to front defroster only, and after about 30 seconds, the front defroster read ONLY 52 degrees. Would appreciate others input on this, the car is going to the deaker on Tuesday,m would like to give input to them from other people. My car is a 2012 MKX. At times, in auto mode, the air changes from fllor to vents, and it comes out a bit on the cooler side. I don't know if this is related to my lincoln touch, or a problem with the "blend door" ? Thanks, Joe

Ever seen this backup camera? Whats your take?
JOEHIO replied to rcbbdl1's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I think that it looks pretty damn good. It will look more like "factory", then those that are mounted over the license plate. A "go for it" in my books. -
Will have to do some investigating on this one, looks pretty good, will have to check out mounting (spring loaded would be nice), and if it would effect the reclining rear seat feature.

My month old MKX does the same thing. Not that often, but when it does, it closes to the first clcik, and when it works, you hear the second click, and it closes completely, BUT, sometimes after the first click, it opens back up. No obstructions, and temperature makes no difference, could be 28 degrees or 55, doesn;t matter. Will be taking it in to get checked out, service tech said they might have to make some kind of adjustment.

Glad to hear that the problem was resolved. Cars of today are so advanced from years ago, but can be a real PITA with all the sensors and electronic gizmo's.

The best with your new ride, you will love it. Welcome to the forum, You will fing a lot of info and tips on it.

Who knows what could be wrong with it, sounds like it might be some kind of computer glitch. Thank god you took pout the extended warranty, some may differ, but to me, it;s worth it's weight in gold. Had it on my '06 Explorer, paid for itself time and time again. Let us know what the problem was, and hopefully it's nothing major.

Welcome back to Ford Country, and the best with your Edge.

Congrats on the new ride. and welcome to the forum. I have a '12 MKX, loving it, but wish that Lincoln would have made a model that has lower cladding painted to match the car, like the Sport has. They could have called it a "Touring" model, or something like that. Glad to have a "techie" on the forum. Joe

Yes, Richy, it's been a fun year, and another good one to follow. Joe

Can you post some pics? Thanks, bud, Joe

I don't know what brand to get, but if you have AWD, I would put them on the rear. If you have FWD, putting them on the rear would be useless, but I shudder to think what tire chains would be like on the front of the car.

Sorry to hear that you didn't qualify for the "acident forgiveness Clause", but at least you will be getting you Edge fixed, and hopefully on the road soon. A year ago this past summer, this ding bat lady cut across 2 lanes of traccic right in front of my wife, and my wife "nailed" her with our MKS. Our dealership (Maplecrest, Union,NJ) has it's own body shop, and their work was superb. Had $8,000 damage to our car, looks perfect. Make sure that whoever does the work, uses GENUINE Ford parts. There are manufacturers out there that have "replacement" parts, but from what I understand, they are not the same as FMC parts, maybe cheaper grade of metal, aluminum, whatever.

Just want to wish everyone out there a Happy and Healthy Holiday. The best in the New Year, too !

Glad to hear that you got it working. This is a good forum, we're all here to help each other out. Joe

Have 1 at the end on my MKX, splits into 2 pipes.

Have a neighbor that just got a Sorrento a few weeks before I got my MKX. He said it's not bad, but the ride is kind of "truckie" (qas he put it), and kind of loud with engine noise and highway driving. He never did look at an Edge, Nds now he;s kind of sorry. He's not unhappy with the Sorrento, just a little disappointed in some areas. MFT, actually MLT with the MKX, is pretty decent so far. A little slow with some voice commands, but it does work pretty friggin sharp ! Enjoy whatever you choose. Joe

Thanks Akirby and wlepse, for your info. This will give myb wife another "diddy" for me for Xmas. Joe

Sweet ride, enjoy it. I had a '06 Explorer before the MKX, and do not miss it at all. Entry code is not hard to do at all. To create your own code, first enter the factory code, and within five seconds, press the 1.2 button, then enter your own 5 digit personal code. Each number must be entered within 5 seconds of each other. Instructions can be found in the owners guide under locks and security. Joe
