  1. Mine was certainly warm, I had just driven 100km at that point. My car had been running for over an hour. I think you may still be on the right track though. Being warm it would idle even lower. If I recall, I put it into park for about 10sec or so, then into reverse. It moved about 1 foot and lost power. It may have been this quick exchange from D to P to R that cause the car to be in the incorrect idle state ?? I was at the shop yesterday and was told that this issue may even be related and resolved to the big mytouch update coming out. The service adviser told me he understood that the entire vehicle is getting a programing overhaul. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
  2. I was at the dealer last night, with my issue list. They reviewed it all and told me the new software is supposed to be a complete update for all system components, but they didn't have any further details. I was told it may even resolve my rough 1-2nd rough shift. It seems from being on this forum, I knew as much if not more then they did. Ford has them in the dark just as much as we are. They also told me that they don't have it yet. They didn't even know it had been officially been released. I hope this is really it. The sad part was that they told me even if they had it, they don't have the hardware to do the update yet. I'm wondering if its just this magic dual female USB cable.
  3. What was the trick or did it just work this time? My seats still don't turn on. I haven't tried turning them on prior to shutting the Edge off, but it is supposed to be automatic so we shouldn't have to do this. The seats don't have a "last setting" option in the menu, just "Auto".
  4. I'll second your request as this has happened to me as well. Luckily just the alarm a couple of times and not the gate. That would suck! I thought I did it once more last weekend when getting in the car at a mall. My wife and I split up and said we'd meet back at the truck. I had just got in and sat down when the alarm went off. I was sure i pressed it in my jeans, but this time it was my wife watching me and setting off the alarm...Just make sure its not someone with the other key messing with you ;-) What would be ideal is just a little switch that disables the buttons...like the lockout switch on some ipods....Challenge accepted! I'm going to make one. In the mean time, if you just want something semi permanent, just pop open the FOB, lift up the rubber and place a piece of paper or tape over the copper ring for the button(s) you want to disable. (tape would work better, but you'll need to clean the pad when you want to use it again)
  5. It could have been worse, it could have been Billy Ray Cyrus.

    Clunky "lazy" Shifts

I'm afraid it might be the same scenario as you. I've just rolled 5000KM and its only happened to me 5-6 times, so I'm certainly not going to give my Edge to them to put 1000KM's on it before they find the issue. It's going in on Thursday, so I'll be bringing it up then. I'm hoping it is just early software for that tranny/engine combo and it will be a simple flash, but perhaps its too new for them to have enough people report it for an update to be created
  7. OK, I don't like the fact that I have half the posts in this section! :stats: I just had my Edge Sport stall on me this weekend. I was just pulling into a parking spot to turn around. I started backing up and the truck died. The left LCD went to "Low Oil Pressure", but I would assume that is the same as turning a key to the on setting, without starting the car. I restarted it and no issues since. Anyone else have this issue? My wife was getting pissed at me as every time we'd stop somewhere I had to back out of the parking spot and drive back in just testing to see if it would happen again. Nope, all seems fine now, but I hope its not a sign of things to come.

    Clunky "lazy" Shifts

Thanks Akirby! I've used your info to do some research and I think you're right. Even with the same model transmission, would the 3.7L have the same programming? I think that is really what it comes down to.

    Clunky "lazy" Shifts

I'm having an issue very similar to another post, but its older and for an 08' I believe, so I've started a new thread in here as I'm assuming it would be a completely different transmission for the 2011 3.7L. This issue is really hard rough shifts at low speed/rpm in 1/2/3rd. As the other poster described it, the truck jerks hard almost like someone bumped into you. This can't be good on the tranny. I've already reported it to my dealer and will be bringing the Edge in next week for its first service. Just wondering if anyone else with an 2011 Edge Sport has noticed this and if they've managed to get it rectified. Thanks! http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/5077-1-2-shift-issue/"]Old Post
  10. They can tell you you HAVE to take that truck, but you can tell them you will not accept it until its 100% new condition. What do you mean by "it could be a short in the defrost". Are they telling you that is what could have caused the window to break, or that the new window may be shorted out. I'm no window tech, however I don't think a short would have done this, it wouldn't get the window that hot, i'd think it would blow a fuse first. I'd say it was installed incorrectly and something as simple as closing the trunk broke it, in which case, be happy it happened to them and not you or it would be hard to explain....or they smashed it with something and are not confessing to you that they did it. If they are saying a replacement window is shorted, then its as simple as telling them to fix it or you don't accept it. If they are going to replace it with no issues, I wouldn't be too worried as if they do it right, it won't be any different then new. I know its a P!ss off though that you'll have to wait to get it fixed.
  11. Looking for 2011 17" or 18" Edge/MKX rims with TPMS for a winter set. Must be 2011 as from the info I can find the 2011 has the Schrader valves, not the band type which does not work with the 2011's. (Please correct me if I'm wrong as this opens up my search. Preferably in the Toronto area as with adding the cost for shipping, I might as well just get aftermarket rims and add TPMS. Thanks!
  12. I'm not sure how this would come into play with your testing/use of the key, however it sounds like the key could be getting electronically disabled as would be a key if locked in the car. If you lock one key in the car it disables many of the functions of that key until you open the car with the other key. Also, does it do this no matter where you are parked, home and somewhere else? It could be something else interfering and possibly even causing the car to lock out the keys. It is also possible that you have a very low battery in that key. This would explain why it seems to work once you are in the car. Now another possibility is the antenna for the IA isn't connected correctly. This may also explain why it works in the car, but not out of the car. I know you said they work for a short while after you've had it running, so the low batt and antenna issues may not be valid, but I thought I'd shoot them your way just in case. Its certainly a strange one!
  13. It would be my guess as well that its just the change to winter tires and the large difference in sidewall size. The 22's are pretty firm, but going from that to 18's will make your Edge quite bouncy in comparison. I haven't put my winters on yet, but that's what I'm worried about.
  14. Just a Bump to resurface this question as I was wondering the same thing. People with 2010's or older seem to be fine with the TPMS warning, but we're wondering what the waring is like on the Mytouch. Anyone running winters with no TPMS and mytouch? $200 for sensors seems a bit steep. My last 2 cars had this as well and I didn't bother adding them to my winters, but it was just a little light to be annoying. Not a full computer and 4" screen. Thanks!
  15. Nice!! Please post a pic when you mount them. I didn't really give CT a try for rims. I was checking out other tire places. This may be an option...I like em'
  16. Thanks for this great post! This is exactly what I was looking to get. I may even order the black chrome ones, to hide the lugs all together. Not sure what I'd like better, the contrasting shiny lugs or a blacked out set :shades: Can you get 1/2 in a slightly longer version? I'd be worried these would bottom out, especially if you had to use them on your spare. Did it seem like you had plenty of room when you changed them, or did it look close? Perhaps the bolt still doesn't even come close to the end. I would recommend keeping a set of your original lugs in with your spare just in case.
  17. I find it hard to believe it could be a software issue! It is very possible, but I would assume it would have to be implemented on purpose, such as it must wait for the car to warm up and reduce moisture to prevent possible failure from condensation and I'd also assume Ford would have known MS did this. Also just to add to the stats, I've had a 5-6 days so far where the car was below 0C (32F) with no issues. There is a few seconds before the screen will respond to commands while I freeze my butt off since my heated seats didn't turn on with my remote start. But I'll live! Just chill I'm sure all of this crap will be sorted out soon. Hey we were the ones that decided to buy first gen technology. Its hard being a BETA tester :stats: :stats:
  18. My climate control works and starts heating the car slowly, but my Seats/Front & Rear defrost don't do anything. We've had -3C (26F), but no go! Are these features working for you? Did ford set the temps so they need to be that low before these features kick in? The Edge heats up quickly so its not too bad now, but when its -30C (-22F) this thing better work or I'm going to be yelling at someone every day until it does. Does anyone know what the threshold is?
  19. Hi Wilsons66604, Based on your profile, I'm assuming you're in IT, or at least a "power user" am I correct? I do understand why you continue to emphasize "Its a Touch Screen" and "Are you pressing too hard?", as end user ignorance is 90% of all helpdesk calls. But I would like to point out that the section of the manual you had quoted is for "Your vehicle’s centerstack" it is not for the touch screen. I'm an IT Manager and have worked my way up from a computer store tech, so I've seen it all. I just wanted to clarify this as I've used 100's of different touch screens, but this is my first in car touch NAV. I've never had to press so hard on a touch screen before to get it to function. I know I'm using it correctly, I just don't know if it is the nature of this screen that it requires more pressure. My first guess is that the touch screen membrane that covers the LCD was not applied correctly directly against the screen. It doesn't feel like its part of the screen, you can feel it as another layer on top. I'm assuming that it should feel much like a portal TomTom or Gamin type GPS, is this correct? Thanks! From the feedback so far, it does seem that I need more pressure then most I'm not about to put my finger through the screen, however it doesn't seem like I should have to press as hard as I do. I've already contacted my dealer with regards to coming in to test out a few other screens they have on the lot to compare.
  20. Wow that's dark, but it looks good! 5 over 23?? in the back = 1.15%, your pretty close to having solid black paint on the windows :shades: How do you find it at night? Is it hard to see out the front, I'm assuming its almost impossible to see out the back, even in the day. I was worried 15% all around was going to be too dark.
  21. This sounds very similar to my issue. Its not that I'm pressing too hard. I can have my finger on the screen for 10 sec and nothing happens unless I press a bit harder. I then feel the top film move and it takes my command. This issue seems to be more prominent in the middle. I haven't had issues where it loaded a different main screen, or at least haven't noticed it. I may have, but just thought it was my fault and ignored it. I'll pay attention to this as well. I think I may pop by the dealership and test out another screen to see if I can notice a difference. should the screen be very sensitive, i.e. very light touch gets it to work...like an Ipod? If so, mine is nowhere close to this sensitive. My wife's "gentle" touch, doesn't even register sometimes and I have to press the area for her. I haven't looked yet...is there a sensitivity setting somewhere?
  22. I've noticed that the middle of my touch screen seems loose. When I touch anywhere around the edges it seems firm, but near the middle it almost feels like you have to click the screen as it moves in when I press it. It also needs more pressure, like I have to move the outer coating into the inner screen to get my finger touch to register. Does anyone else see / feel this as well?
  23. Since I was a kid, I've traveled over a 1 million KM's in a car...maybe even 2 mill. I've only experienced 4-5 flat tires in that time frame. 2 of them were complete blowouts and unless "flat fixer" is also, "tire builder", its not going to fix a tire with a 6 inch chunk missing out of the sidewall, or an empty rim when your tire is in pieces somewhere on the highway. I would never run without a spare. If your in an urban area ALL OF THE TIME! I could see it, but still would never do it. Trust me! You'll need your spare at the worse time. You'll be traveling to a friends cabin in the middle of BF nowhere and no cell phone reception when a metal chuck that fell off the deliverance pig boy's pickup gashes your tire. Then you'll be wishing you hadn't gained that 2cf of storage when you have to walk 10 miles to a phone and wait 6hrs for a tow truck. "Why the $%&@ did I remove that @#$&'n spare!" I'd like to add to also ensure you check that spare. Spend 10 min every 6-12 months and before any road trip to ensure its in good shape and has enough air. A tire isn't 100% sealed. Air does leak out and over a few years, if you don't re inflate it your spare is likely to low to even use. I changed an elderly couple's flat on the highway a few years ago that I even asked them to go to the other side of the car when I lowered it. The tire looked like it was on a WW1 jeep. It was rotten and gashed in a few places. I thought it was going to pop as soon as I put weight on it and the mini van only looked to be 5-6 years old and I was told it had never been used. It was one of the under the car spares though. That has to be the worst idea ever! Also to add to bpattie's comment - I'm 99% sure it will mess up your TPMS useless if it gets on it. Just my $.02 CAD :shades:
  24. I believe when you are in 3D map view, 3d buildings are automatic if the map has them. I'm in Toronto and I only get buildings when I'm in the middle of the city. The further I go out, the fewer buildings show up, until eventually there are none.
