  1. The caps pop off, so you can replace the new one with the factory one if it is not cracked.
  2. Major difference is ride and weight. Both favor the 18" size. Handling is not improved by the 20" size.
  3. I have experienced the same faster flashing. Once it gets a bit warmer outside I will try to solve this issue. My flash pattern is normal, just fast.
  4. Had them installed today. Ride and noise are most acceptable. No issues about control. I'll post how well they work in the snow once we get some.
  5. Just took delivery of a set of Nitto NT850+ CUV all season tires 245 60 18. They are only $108.72 through the 21st od December. Free shipping is included. There is an additional fee added in some states. They are V speed rated and I have read decent reviews. The wear rating is 500. I'll let you know if I like them once I get them installed.
  6. Can It be assumed that you have not yet figured out how to retrofit the newer (amber turn) rear light units into an older Edge yet? Richard
  7. Several people have posted detailed instructions on this forum.
  8. My rule is never to ask for a so called 30,000 mile or 60,000 mile, etc., service. That is just asking for them to take my hard earned money. Instead, read the manual that came with the vehicle and just ask for the specific task that you want them to undertake. Mostly, the manual just calls for an oil change, an air filter change and a spark plug change, at specified miles. Changing out the coolant and flushing out the old brake fluid with new fluid once in a while is good practice, as is an occasional tire rotation. Just use common sense with an eye always on the manual. Today's transmission fluid is typically good for at least 100,000 miles unless you put excessive demand on the transmission. Again, consult the manual. If you have a lubrication question, scanning bobistheoilguy.com is a good place to start.
  9. Did not see the Edge listed as one of the vehicles approved for this device.
  10. If you have an 08 edge there is a great solution. For the high beam switch to an H9 bulb using the NARVA brand. This is the latest and greatest bright bulb out there and it is DOT and EU legal. But you will need to trim the tabs on the bulb to match the pattern on the OEM bulb; not a big deal. For the low beam you want to replace the OEM bulb with another latest and greatest bright bulb that is DOT and EU legal, the 9012 HIR bulb. Again you will need to trim the bulbs tabs. Both of these bulbs will properly focus in the Edge's housing, and will last as long as the OEM bulb and they will not draw an excessive amount of current like must over wattage bulbs will. All 4 bulbs will set you back about $100.00 and will put a smile on your face. They are not tinted in any way like most of the blue tinted junk out there.
  11. My 07 SEL+ has been a good ride so far (100,000 miles). It has required a new power booster for the brakes (Which I think Ford should have treated as a customer quality issue). And the painted inside dash surface is a bit fragile, and replacement tires are expensive and limited in choice because Ford decided to fit my Edge with a weird sized 245 60x18 in tire. And the changer in the radio gammed itself to death. Other than that, perfection.
  12. So you changed several items at one time and still want to believe that it was the K&N filter that made the difference.
  13. How many miles on the vehicle? Often a drop in mpg is associated with a bad O2 sensor, although today I would think the engine light would indicate this. Have the engine codes pulled to see if it shows any issues.
  14. Front or all wheel drive? Also, from my experience, if Ford offered a set of performance parts, it would be one thing. But don't trust just any old vender to offer such parts that will actually improve performance AND safety. Too much oversteer is not what you want. I own a Chrysler mini-van that is usually not offered with a rear sway bar in the States, but is standard on "export" models. I just got the proper part numbers and would up with a much nicer vehicle, performance wise, without too much oversteer. Chrysler spent the money to get the parts right. Be careful out there.
  15. The US placed a huge tariff on tires from China. I have not heard of any recalls involving tires from China lately. Let us know what your experience is with them if you go through with the purchase.
  16. Strange, I get about 17mpg in my around town driving on my 07 SEL+ Edge. Perhaps the larger tires and extra parts added since 07 contribute to lower fuel economy? I get about 22 to 23 on the highway if I keep my speed under 65 mph.
  17. Heck, here in upstate NY we get away with all season and even summer tires, in the winter, and lots (I mean lots) of salt! (not loving, just saying).
  18. The Pilot Sport A/S is currently not available in a size that fits the Edge. Neither is the new Defender tire.
  19. Do you have an opinion on how the 17" fitted OEM shocks work with the much heavier 20" wheel and tire setup?
  20. The expensive Contintental CrossContact LX20, the Goodyear Assurance CS Tripletread and the Pirelli Scorpien Verde all scored at the top of Tire Rack's review ratings. There are not many choices available in this size.
  21. Just stay with the same size.
  22. I have a 2007. I agree that a new set of rotors are a better choice than cutting the old rotors. However, the vibration could be caused by an uneven coating of brake pad material on the rotors. Try several moderatly hard stops and then drive with the foot off the brakes for a few miles to let the rotors cool down. This could cure the vibration issue. As for the quality of the stopping power of early Edges. It turns out the brake booster went through several revisions. If you are not happey with the stopping power of your Edge consider replacing your booster with the latest from the dealer (about $100) plus a moderatly skilled install. Also, more agressive pads such as Bendex Police rated front pads will do wonders. But if it is only a vibration consern just file this info for sometime in the future. A good fluid flush is also a very good idea at this time.
  23. It does not have to be very cold to make a big difference. On even a cool morning in Florida a 0W oil will significantly reduce the wear during the startup cycle.
  24. Yes, a 0W-20 synthitic oil is better than any 5W-20 synthitic oil so long as it meets Ford's specifications. They are both base 20 oils but the 0W will significantly reduce cold start wear.
