  1. Be aware that there could be a problem with the pcm that fries the coils and vice versa. Good news is its covered under the emissions warranty which should be at least 8 yrs 80K miles.
  2. And just how do you propose to "force" them to issue a recall? Only the NHTSA can do that and so far they've agreed with Ford that it doesn't warrant a recall. If you're so concerned about safety then why haven't you fixed it already? Why would you wait for it to happen 6 or 7 times? The part is less than $200 and a 15 minute swap at most. I completely agree that Ford should extend the warranty but don't pretend it's about safety when clearly you just don't want to pay for the repair.
  3. That is a terrible assumption. If you never checked the pressure how do you know they weren't leaking? They have to be down 25% before the TPMS warning comes on, which is about 9 lbs low. Maybe they were 8 lbs low last year. And problems can develop over time. With the faulty valve stems they didn't fail right away - took months or years. You really just need to fill them back up and monitor them closely to see if they're slowly leaking.
  4. When it happens just unplug the garage door opener (if possible). That should eliminate it at the least.
  5. Could also be RFI interference from something else in the garage or in the house.
  6. You can get a used PCM. But I don't think a no-start condition is typical of this type of failure. It usually just runs rough and burns up coils, so you really need to rule out a fuel problem and/or check the codes.
  7. The new Escape already has this feature so i would assume it will also show up on the 2015 Edge and 2016 Explorer. You just open it to the spot you want and hold the button until it beeps and that's as far as it opens.
  8. The no start condition could be a bad PCM but it could be tons of other things too including bad gas.

I thought it's been that way for some time. I don't even notice the ads - I just scroll down.
  10. Just checked all my tires and they were all at 26 lbs. they will lose air on their own and especially with cold weather.
  11. The install could fail for a number of reasons though most are unlikely. They're just playing it safe since they could be on the hook for a warranty repair depending on when it was installed (less likely now due to age but valid when this version first came out).. If they wanted to generate dealer revenue they would make you take it back for all updates instead of only one.
  12. Not a sales gimmick. Some versions of sync and MFT can brick the system if not done correctly so ford wants the dealer to do it. It only applies to that one version of sync and one MFT version.
  13. According to my dealer contact the job last for the 2015 MKX is 12/23/2014. No job 1 date for the 2016 as Waldo stated. However they could extend production into 2015 if necessary if the 2016 isn't ready yet. I think it's safe to say job 1 will be sometime between January and April and we should get a lot more details at the January Detroit auto show.
  14. No, I get it having owned explorers, expeditions and aviators. But going to the edge we never missed it. I'm sure they left it out for cost savings. There might also be a crash test advantage to having a one piece hatch.
  15. You should have an auxiliary jack to plug in your phone or media player using the headphone jack. To get USB or Bluetooth you'd have to get an aftermarket head unit. It's difficult to add sync since it's a lot more than just the head unit.
  16. Except the much smaller screen, audio not integrated with stereo, doesn't show you the speed limit, no POIs. It is cheaper with free map updates and it will get you there but I wouldn't say it's better.
  17. At this point it's not really a Ford issue. Sounds like they didn't reinstall them properly when they replaced the rotors. I'd have a good brake shop check it out - chances are they can fix it with a couple hours labor. Then you can decide whether to seek reimbursement from the dealer who replaced the rotors.
  18. Ford knows exactly when the MKX is scheduled for production. But they haven't announced it yet so they can't tell you. The current date might change. I'll see if I can find out the current estimated job 1 date. Dealers will get these dates before ford announces it publicly. And yes, this is standard operating procedure.
  19. It does except you should still be looking at your mirror before changing lanes. What if the BLIS system wasn't working? It's not a substitute for looking - it's an added measure of safety that helps in addition to looking.
  20. Yeah that would be completely annoying. But I guess you could wire a relay into the wire that turns on the light. But you'd need 2 of them. And I bet you'd turn it off rather quickly.
  21. After further reflection - maybe I overreacted to the phrase "I hope Ford knows what it's doing." As Waldo points out Ford knows exactly what it's doing. It's also possible that Ford's plan doesn't match your personal requirements or timeline. Which goes in the category of you can't please everybody all the time. The 2016 MKX should be shown in Detroit in January so you'll be able to compare it to the 2015 Edge before buying, then you can decide if it's worth waiting for or not.
  22. There is nothing wrong with being personally disappointed but I fail to understand why that's a problem for Lincoln that the new MKX won't be out for a few months after the new Edge? As Waldo pointed out - what would be worse? Releasing a vehicle before it's ready and having a multitude of problems or waiting a few months and getting it right? Having lived through the 2011 Edge fiasco with MFT and the Fusion/MkZ fiasco in late 2012/early 2013 I'm going to say that waiting a few months is far far far better. They haven't really even shown the 2016 MkX here yet, only in China so the vast majority of potential buyers don't even know it's coming. The 2015 Edge is obviously late and was supposed to be out already this year, otherwise they would have launched it as a 2016 model. But again it's better to launch it when it's ready than to launch it too early and have problems or artificially delay the Edge just because the MKX is delayed. Yes, you might lose a few MKX sales to the 2015 Edge but you'll also get a lot more Edge sales with the new model to offset it. As for the 2015 orders not shipping yet, there is nothing wrong. Yes, the order banks opened in September because they have to get orders in the pipeline. This happens with EVERY VEHICLE that Ford launches every year. The order date was clearly published. The job 1 date was also clearly published. Ford's shipping process for new vehicles is also well know requiring 5 days of error free builds before they start shipping. Therefore it was unreasonable for anyone ordering a 2015 F150 to expect to have it before January. If dealers were telling buyers something different then shame on the dealers because they know exactly how the process works and when to expect vehicles. My point is these schedules are normal operating procedure. If the dates don't meet your requirements then you either have to change your requirements or go somewhere else, but there's not much Ford can do to reasonably change that. Vehicles launch when they're ready. Again - I understand your personal frustration but that's different than saying Ford is doing something wrong.
  23. He didn't say he was disappointed that he couldn't see both the new Edge and MKX at the same time prior to next summer. He said he wasn't sure Ford knew what they were doing and he referenced the 2015 F150 which has nothing to do with the Edge/MKX comparison.
  24. I think he's just frustrated that he can't buy the newest shiniest toy right now.
