Aftermarket Speakers... 5X7 or 6X8 ?
akirby replied to good2Bking's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Yes. -
Batteries are covered by the B2B warranty - 3/36 for ford and 4/50 for Lincoln. Ditch the jumper cables. You can get a jumper box for $50 and you can start the car all by yourself.
-
The factory battery warranty is 3/36 just like the rest of the car. My batteries have never lasted more than 3 or 3.5 years whether it's the factory battery, cheap replacement or expensive replacement. 3 years is not uncommon.

Power takeoff unit - sends power to the rear differential on AWD models.

Unlock rear doors on 2010 Ford Edge
akirby replied to Mick's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Auto-unlock will do it after you stop and you open the driver's door. Or turn off auto lock. -
Sorry didn't see that you already replaced the cat.

SD Card navigation question
akirby replied to strike2tamu's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I believe turn by turn works with any non nav sync vehicle, but your sync account should tell you for sure. -
Sounds like driving it with the misfire fried the catalytic converter.

Sync3 Hard to use while driving?
akirby replied to CinnamonEdge's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Not sure what you guys are talking about - the question mark is right there......... -
Stating that 3.6 fixes virtually all of the serious software issues and that the vast majority of MFT owners do not have these problems is not white washing. Individual vehicles can have many problems that others don't. It sucks that yours can't be fixed to your satisfaction whether it's MFT or anything else. From here on out please limit the sync 3 discussion to sync 3 and not to rehashing MFT problems or history. If you want to do that start a new topic.

Sync3 Hard to use while driving?
akirby replied to CinnamonEdge's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
My Aviator had a similar light colored screen (light grey) and it wasn't a problem. It also had a night mode where it flipped to a dark screen. I'm sure this one will be fine. -
WE WANT APPS ON MY FORD TOUCH!
akirby replied to CinnamonEdge's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
The priority has to be stability for features that 99% of buyers want and use. It sucks that meant removing or not delivering some features but that's the risk you take with a cutting edge product. And while you may not think it was cutting edge due to smartphones this was the first time such a system was introduced in a high volume full line auto mfr. I think ford learned their lesson and won't repeat those mistakes with sync3. Anyone who has done software development understands their dilemma. If you don't like it then don't buy another Ford. I don't quite understand buying a $40K vehicle based on features you can get on a $200 smartphone instead of the vehicle itself. But that's your prerogative. That said I'm sure 99.9% of owners prefer stability for basic features over the gee whiz stuff. In the end it's a business decision. -
If you really believe it's unsafe then spend $200 and replace it. If you're not willing to spend $200 then you must not really believe it's dangerous.
-
The current software is extremely stable. I have 3 vehicles with MFT and have not had any problems since the 3.6 update. You hardly ever hear new owners complaining about anything. Other than a couple of hot button missing features like a built-in web browser (unnecessary with smart phones) and lat/long input on nav (that hardly anyone uses) I don't see the problems. Anyone having stability issues has a hardware problem.

If you turn left in front of an oncoming vehicle and almost get t-boned when it stalls then you were cutting it way too close to begin with. You have to anticipate a malfunction - cars stall all the time - bad gas, transmission, etc not just TB. That's why NHTSA doesn't consider it a recall able problem. I do think ford should extend the warranty but that doesn't stop you from fixing it yourself. This. You can fix it with the new TB for less than $150 and 15 minutes. If it's truly a safety concern then fix it - don't wait for Ford to extend the warranty or do a recall. I think "this is really dangerous" is just code words for "I want ford to pay for it".
-
If you almost get hit because your vehicle stalls then you aren't driving safely to begin with. Cars stall every day for lots of reasons.
-
Because the NHTSA doesn't count stalling as something dangerous enough to warrant a recall.
-
The solution is to get the throttle body replaced. It's only a few hundred bucks. Save the receipt. If you had purchased an extended warranty it would be covered but you'd still be $1000 in the hole.

2016 Lincoln MKX spied in production form
akirby replied to blitz118's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I suspect the 2015 edge has sync 2 and the 2016 gets sync 3. The 2015 was supposed to have been out by now before sync 3 was ready. -
Plagued with bugs is such an exaggeration. Then again I shouldn't have expected anything less.

That's a TERRIBLE vehicle. Run away! Just kidding. The only thing that matters is whether you're happy with it.
