  1. Yet another step towards being a full feature luxury brand. THX was pretty good but not Mark Levinson good and a lot of people scoff at the THX name. And before you ask - no, it won't be available on the Edge.
  2. To be fair the original post didn't mention that it only activated with the turn signal and I think we all agree having it beep every time a car was beside you all the time would be most annoying. As long as you check the mirror - which you should always do anyway - the beep is redundant so while some people would appreciate the added warning others simply find it annoying as evidenced by the comments. Neither is right or wrong - just different personal preferences.
  3. The only way Ford would know a rock hit it is based on what the dealership said or showed them. It's possible that the dealership screwed up (based on the previous botched repair attempts) but did not want to foot the bill so they said a rock hit it so they could blame Ford for denying the warranty claim. So now instead of fixing it for free they're making you pay $1400 and making you think they're doing you a favor making Ford the bad guy. It's also possible a rock did hit it prior to the glass exploding and it was a delayed reaction. Ford has replaced glass under similar circumstances before so it's not like they have a policy of denying such claims under normal circumstances.
  4. Escalate to Ford. They should be able to provide a loaner and some type of compensation.
  5. Well that's another reason why the Fusion extended warranty wouldn't apply to the Edge. But it does seem like a very similar problem so maybe once Ford gets a number of these failures on the Edge they'll do a similar warranty extension.
  6. Is that the same TB that the Fusion uses?
  7. On the Fusion there is a new TB part number. Can't say for sure about the Edge TB - could be a different part number.
  8. That would make a lot more sense, but there is no reason that shouldn't be covered by the b2b warranty.
  9. first guess is it's not recognizing the files on the usb drive. Reformat it as fat32 so it erases everything and re-download it just to be safe. If it still does it try disconnecting and reconnecting the negative battery cable to reset everything and try it again.
  10. So it is safe, just for a different reason. Sounds like a smart way to save a few bucks on spare tires with a few lines of software.
  11. How can that possibly not be covered under the B2B warranty? It's not a wear item. And how could the steering column bolt cause the fluid to leak out? That doesn't make sense.
  12. It probably wouldn't hurt to check with Ford to make sure it wasn't a factory mistake. I suppose it could negatively impact the PTU if it engages the PTU more often and/or continuously.
  13. Why would Ford sell it that way if it wasn't safe? That's my point. It came that way from the factory.
  14. I was just going by what Waldo said. He's usually right, but not always.
  15. Or the website is wrong. Can any 2013 or 2014 owners verify that you can adjust the opening height on the tailgate? I would have expected it to be in the OM if that was the case and it's not (unless I looked at the wrong manual).
  16. Interesting. Must not be a problem for 50 miles or Ford wouldn't have done it that way.
  17. That video was for an Escape not an Edge and the 2014 edge OM does not include those instructions. Are you sure that's on the 2014 Edge?
  18. The SE doesn't have a PTU so it's not just not likely, it's impossible. Full transmission failures are rare. And to be honest - you don't know how the original owner treated it - it could have been abused before you got it.
  19. Yep - you need to let the dead battery charge a bit before starting.
  20. Interesting.......so the factory spare could be up to 5% smaller?
  21. You're not losing air from the TPMS. That system sends the pressure from inside the tire electronically. What we're telling you is that it's entirely possible that the pressure loss was normal even though it may not be what you've experienced before. It could also be a bad tire, wheel or valve stem. Only way to know is to monitor it weekly or monthly at the most.
  22. You say you never had a problem, but you don't really know if you did or did not have a low tire because you never checked it. The TPMS only warns you if they're 25% low. It won't tell you if they're 20% low. And different tires and even different wheels can have different results. These are my results, and I check air pressure at least twice per year. I have a 2012 Focus, 2013 Fusion and 2014 Escape. The TPMS light came on in the Escape so I checked and filled every tire on all 3 vehicles. Every single tire, without fail, was between 6 and 10 lbs too low. If your tires are at 36 psi on a 70 degree day then on a 30 degree day they'll be at 28 psi and that's without any leaks - just normal pressure change due to temperature. That's why you need to check them at least twice per year - summer and winter after the temps stabilize somewhat.
  23. If that's the case then I suspect someone put on larger aftermarket tires. The spare should match the factory tire diameter. That's why we need the exact sizes of both the 20" tires and the spare.
  24. Speaking the truth doesn't make me a troll. Just because something breaks doesn't mean a mfr has to fix it outside the original warranty period and if you think only Ford does this you're sadly mistaken. You can't claim it's a life or death safety issue and then wait while it happens 6 or 7 times to get it fixed. Fix it, pay for it then figure out your options for getting reimbursed from Ford. I said I think Ford should cover it with an extended warranty but that's a far cry from a safety recall. Given that the NHTSA has forced recalls for owner's manuals and floor mats I think its safe to say that they typically err on the side of caution and they don't think it's a safety issue. This would be more understandable if it was a $4K engine or transmission. And no - I have not installed a throttle body myself but several people on the fordfusionforum.com website have and that's where I got the info on the part cost and time to install. If you think it's different on the Edge then explain why, otherwise don't make assumptions about where people get their info.
  25. Not clear at all. You can't tell from that angle. What are the posted sizes of each tire?
