  1. Pretty sure it requires special tools and procedures. I don't recall anyone doing it themselves.
  2. Forget about it and enjoy the V6. The EPA ratings are only 2-3 mpg different - you'll never come close to making up the depreciation hit in fuel savings. If you can get 32 with the 2.0L EB then you can get 29 with your V6. Don't sweat it. Conversely - if you're only getting 25 with the V6 then you'll only get 28 with the 2.0L EB.
  3. Didn't think so. That explains why that feature disappeared from the Focus - they're going with one version for all vehicles now. Some Focus owners are pissed. DirecTV took away the ability for me to pause live TV while in the recorded shows playlist. It's software - stuff happens.
  4. Get used to it. This will be the norm going forward - for Ford at least. Less lag time between the major auto shows and the vehicles going on sale.
  5. There is a lot of discussion from Focus owners about losing their ability to set 2 Favorite shortcuts that get tied to specific steering wheel buttons. I haven't seen that discussed here - does the Edge have that feature? Maybe it's only on the Focus.
  6. I would start with a new battery. We already had to replace the one in our 2008. And we've seen a lot of cases where the battery seems to test ok but replacing it fixed the problem. If nothing else you get a fresh battery that you know is good for at least the next 3 years and you can rule that out of your troubleshooting.
  7. I did and I judged that you don't belong on this site any longer. Have a nice day.
  8. This. ^^^^^ It's not what you said but how you said it and how you responded to everyone else. Now I'm asking nicely for you to simply drop the issue and please move on. If you can't do that then I'll help you.
  9. I also recall someone saying there was another flag in the system that indicated whether Nav was enabled or not on that vehicle and that it could not be updated via the USB interface. So you may get the software but it won't activate.
  10. It certainly won't hurt but to be perfectly honest if you have a lubrication related failure (and they know if it's a lubrication related failure just by looking at the failed parts) it won't matter how much documentation you have and that includes jiffy lube receipts. There is no way for Ford to know whether the work was done as stated on the receipts and if the right product was used. Just because the receipt said they used motorcraft 5w-20 doesn't prove that's what they actually used. If you have the work done at a dealer then it's in their system and that *might* get you off the hook. But as long as you do proper maintenance the chances of having a lubrication related failure is extremely small and not really worth worrying about.
  11. Good question. It's entirely possible you could get the software loaded that way but without a SD card it would be useless and from what we've heard the SD card is specific to each vehicle and can't be swapped around once it's installed.
  12. I've said everything that needs to be said as has everyone else. I'm going to close this thread and we're going to start over with a clean sheet as if nothing happened. We don't need any more drama.
  13. I downloaded it last night (but didn't install it yet) for my daughter's Focus and on the page where you have to select Nav or No Nav it clearly says that if you have Nav and proceed with the download then Nav won't work until you receive the new SD card in the mail.
  14. He does have Intelligent Access so he doesn't need buttons, just to keep the keyfob in his pocket and he wants a smaller one without all the buttons.
  15. Lose the condescending attitude. You don't have to agree with how I moderate but you can't go calling me or anyone else names just because you don't get your way. There are ways to have mature discussions with constructive criticism but you have to lose the attitude and stop arguing with everyone who doesn't agree with you. If you don't want to follow the rules then leave. This is your LAST warning because I'm just not in the mood to keep discussing it.
  16. You might need to do the status checker again OR they may be rolling it out on a staggered schedule.
  17. Attacking people (especially the moderator) won't get you very far. Why don't you chill out, take a deep breath and try to engage in constructive discussions about the Edge? We're done with this thread.
  18. BTW - if you do opt for the autolamp feature then you get a headlamp delay of between 20 seconds and 3 minutes. You don't have to wait 10 minutes for the battery saver.
  19. All that just because the lights don't turn off when you open the door? Seriously? Ford has a lot of technology that others don't even offer - Sync, MFT, keyless keypads, better fuel economy. But I guess that's not as important as the lights turning off on the cheapest base model version of a vehicle you obviously don't like anyway.
  20. Ford has the auto-off headlamp battery saver for decades. Pretty sure even my 95 Ranger had it. The reason Ford doesn't turn off the headlamps when you open the door should be obvious - safety and convenience. You can open and shut and lock the door and proceed into your house or down the street or wherever you need to go with plenty of light to guide you. I think that's far superior to the competition's solution. And Ford offers auto-ON headlamps in their mid grade models whereas the imports usually only offer on their top of the line model. Don't bitch about not having something when it was available and you simply chose not to purchase it.
  21. It is reportedly now available on syncmyride.com so you might want to check there first.
  22. Please don't tint the headlamps or taillamps if you're driving it on the street.
  23. What about it? Somebody posted software that you can use at your own risk. If something doesn't work right you'll have to take it back to the dealer and they may charge you to fix it. I wouldn't take the risk but that's up to you. You can also wait for your software to be mailed or take it to the dealer for supported upgrades. Are you having serious problems every day?
