  1. Yeah we have seen very similar behavior. At least twice we have had the radio stay on after key is removed, door opened and car locked up. Just be happy you can adjust the volume. One time it locked up like this it was stuck on AM hiss pretty damn loud and my wife couldn't change it. If I were you I would document the current behavior with pictures and video. If your dealer is anything like mine, once they hear you have an MFT issue they won't have an opening for 2-3 weeks. But this way you have proof something was happening and if it continues to be a problem you can show them the proof. Some have had luck after getting their APIM replaced...we have not...but Ford is often reluctant to replace these so keep a record of what happens. I was actually keeping a Word doc where I would log the strange behavior and pictures of it. I stopped recently since Ford ran out of ideas and things to try...basically I was told to wait for the rewrite.
  2. Don't bother with the touch screen...when it is in this state it is useless. Trying to use it now will only raise your frustration level and your likely to crack the screen if you push too hard. But some have reported having luck pressing the hard buttons, like the power for radio and HVAC or voice activation button. Unfortunately though I think you are just going to have to wait for it to decide it feels like working. Like I mentioned above we haven't found any ryhme or reason as to when it crashes or when it unlocks. Fuse pulls, battery disconnects and reboot apps (even the one from Ford) are hit and miss. Sorry dude..I feel for you. Sometimes this system does make me feel like punching my dash.
  3. We have had the same thing a few times...wish I could tell you there is something that works. Sometimes it just takes a few power cycles for it to force a reboot. When you say the screen is black but radio is on...does it react to hard button presses? When this happened to ours I noticed that it would beep like it was acknowledging the press but nothing happened. Also do a search for the reboot app. Some have had luck getting it to force a reboot.
  4. Yeah...have basically tried everything. Sometimes I get days out of a reset, sometimes the next start up it dies. Since nothing had been particularly successful I haven't bothered doing proactive resets. I know Dingo has been using the reboot app each time he gets out but I just haven't seen it make much of a difference to be bothered. At this point all we do with the MFT is change radio stations. We were asked to remove the phone pairings and recently the USB drive stopped being recognized...so it is just basic Ford functionality now. But back to the new software....I am really hoping it works well. I am also hoping that the recent posts by Ford employees here and other places are a sign that it will be out soon and will work well.
  5. Man I hope this is true. Our system is terrible right now. Was hoping I would see the update a little early but I guess not. Just hope it is worth the wait.
  6. I would try contacting Steeda. They sell the Brembo kits for the Edge and seem to have a good reputation, so hopefully they can confirm for you. Check them out here: http://www.steedaedge.com/parts/ford-edge-brembo-brakes.html
  7. You don't need bi-xenon; most of the people that have installed kits went with 9006 bulbs since most vendors don't seem to carry 9012.
  8. Wow...statements like this is what got Ford in this mess to begin with. I am sure some people may have issues with technology and getting the most out of the system, but a properly designed and executed system should not crash or lock up from use. We have had several lock ups and have gotten to the point Ford has requested we remove all devices connected and it still crashes at least once a week. So currently we are doing nothing with the system other than changing radio stations. Even the app I was given by Ford to reboot the system has stopped working. Again...I don't believe all systems are crap but many are and to try to pin these failures on users is just mind boggling. Anytime you would like to see a failing system you are welcome to come see our...just might have to wait a day or so.
  9. I had one replaced...issues returned the next day.
  10. I think there has to be...it is the only way to explain the wide range of peoples opinions of the system. With what we are experiencing there is no way anyone else could think it is even remotely acceptable. So while software may free up a few cycles to make things run faster and smoother I don't think they changed it to address varying hardware base. I don't know enough about the hardware and software to be sure but it almost seems like issues I have had using a driver that wasn't quite right for the hardware. Many times it would be OK, sometimes it craps out predictably others random. For the last several weeks we haven't had phones or USB devices connected and we still get crashes. This is with a fresh install and new APIM...so I have to believe there is some hardware incompatibility on the Ford side.
  11. God help us if this is true. I am barely holding on here hoping this update will fix the issues...or at least most of them.
  12. Hope it works for some...but we no longer even try to connect phones to the system. We even recently removed the USB HDD since it constantly gave error messages but still it locks up completely at least once a week and glitches happen daily.
  13. Anyone can reprogram the cluster if they have an appropriate J2534 passthru cable and a temp license to Motocraft.com. I think they also offer the updates there as well so it is possible for someone to do on their own. Sure they could hard code the VIN but from what I have seen they haven't. Not sure a S/N of key code would work since the system doesn't go out to a network to confirm it is unused. But I doubt they will go back and change that now....unless of course they are using this MFT issue to set this in place. But I think that is highly unlikely since it would be a logistical nightmare to make sure USB/sd cards don't get crossed and go to the wrong VIN.
  14. Wow...I thought it used to be like 300. I don't know I would ever pay that much; I think the most I ever paid was $77/yr so that would be over 10 years of service. Not sure Sirius will be around that long or if they would allow it to transfer to an XM unit should the next vehicle have that.
  15. Based on what I have seen about upgrading a vehicle to have nav I doubt Ford will offer it. It seems way to easy to have it pirated. I think the next version MFT that has nav will likely have a hardware piece that gets connected to a USB port of something on the APIM that unlocks the feature. That way only those that paid for the feature will be able to add it.
  16. Check out slickdeals.net for the latest on what people are getting offered. It seems to change month by month a little and you need to have patience. You might have to call back a few times to get the right CS rep. I think I read something about them adding an extra fee though that they don't specifically mention when they tell you the package price. So make sure you ask them to tell you the total amount.
  17. From what I have read they will send out a USB flash drive to update the MFT and an new SD nav card to replace the old one.
  18. Oh man this rewrite can't come soon enough. Had another complete lock up today and again the USB reboot app they gave me isn't functional. I know it would be bad PR if they released it to everyone if it were buggy but right now I would take it in a heart beat. Anything has to be better than what we have. Just can't figure out for the life of me how some of us can have systems that are so unstable yet other seem OK.
  19. Had mine replaced but still no change...glad it worked for you. Just hope ours works soon.
  20. Either way take a look at your exhaust cans so if you do get an aftermarket one you have a better idea what will fit.
  21. I actually didn't get to modify ours since it hit the exhaust cans. If you are interested in doing it though I am sure you can find a local shop that will do it. As for it hanging below the bumper it barely clears the bumper cover so the only thing exposed is the 2" receiver part. Really doesn't hang low at all.
  22. In case you are interested...this is the thread to modify the Valley hitch: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/5058-receiver-hitch-project/ To be honest even without mods it wasn't bad but the clunking was an issue for us. Here is my listing for the hitch: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/8506-valley-hitch-practically-new/ If you are interested I could confirm the dimension between supports to see if it would clear your exhaust cans.
  23. I had wanted something similar and ended up with a very visible hitch just because we couldn't stand the clunking. I still have the original one I bought that only had the 2" receiver visible and my plan was to modify it so normally you would see nothing. Do a search for Valley Hitch...there was a thread where a member cut it up and made it completely hidden. Problem is the older edges had stamped cans and the newer dual rolled cans interfere just a little. I have heard some newer models are coming with a single can so this might still be an option for you. I still have mine for sale but I think shipping to Ohio might be too expensive. Either way good luck.
  24. They removed the 3d album art? Not that it ever worked for me but I do think a lot of people like that feature.
