  1. Doubtful it could be a bad batch. I thought most of the manufacturers were doing JIT/FIFO manufacturing so if my Edge was made a year ago that batch would be long gone by now. I have designed/installed tons of automated industrial equipment over the years with far more complicated software than this, so I know what you mean by finding some strange bugs. But with that said our MFT is only controlling radio and HVAC at this point. No phones are paired and with the exception of this weekend I don't bother with the nav. But I can't believe there could be bugs in this portion of the code since it would mean everyone would have the problems. Besides, often we are greeted with a black or locked screen on start up before anything has been touched.
  2. Already got one of those...no change. But I am wondering if Ford uses re-manufactured components for warranty work. So they pull mine bench test it, reload software and send it back out. So maybe those of us that had it replaced actually got one that was a problem before?? Not sure what to think.
  3. Yeah it really sucks. Just happy that so far this winter has been mild so there have only been a few days I didn't feel safe leaving it for the wife and kid. I can tolerate lack of heat better then they can. What I think bothers me the most is that I think the last few months has really ruined this ownership experience. So even if the new software fixes everything it will be a while if ever that I trust the thing again and start to really enjoy it.
  4. Congrats...and that is not bad English at all...far better than my German will ever be.
  5. Been there done that..unfortuantely nothing makes the system stable. At one point and time I thought these things bought me a few days but then I had a few problems within hours. I barely have a stable system with the MFT doing nothing but HVAC and radio. We no longer use teh phones with the system and the nav is garbage. I tried to use it yesterday but since I was in motion the only option I had was voice commands so I had to pull over. Even then the routing wasn't quite right and we still have issues with our location being off. I really wish this thing had a mode like many portable units that lets you see how many satellites and sees and at what strength. I constantly get the GPS with red X through it symbol in the top left of the screen. Scary if it can't see the satelites now without leaves on the trees, once summer comes I'll never get a signal. Really pissed I spent the money on this.
  6. I feel for you. Pulling fuses, battery cables and reboot apps are only temporary solutions at best. I recently had a lock up whereeven the reboot app Ford gave me didn't work. Luckily it wasn't a particularly cold day so not having heat wasn't too big a deal this time. I am in the same boat, trying to decide if we should just pursue a lemon law case or hope the new software is a huge improvement. We like a lot of other things about the car but I just don't trust it. Not to mention I have no faith left in my dealer and dwindling faith in Ford CS.

    New here

Wow glad you are OK and that the car did what it was supposed to. But looks like you have some stripping to do...I see a ballast hanging, you might want to grab those and get some new bulbs for the Edge.
  8. OK maybe I don't people to answer this but look at the pic below...this is from the latest My Ford mag.
  9. Not sure of this but I seem to remember a similar issue with a TomTom I had. I think it had something to do with the fact it had maps of Canada so by default it was thinking certain things were french. I think I had to modify a file to get it to pronounce streets correctly. Maybe there is a setting somewhere for this?? http://www.tomtomforums.com/t17919-340-s-street-names-mixing-french-english.html

    Real Carbon Fiber!

I saw the thread but didn't think anyone would care I have a ten year old Canon SD500...woohoo!

    Real Carbon Fiber!

Stop lying to people...I found this other x-ray of your arm. Why not just admit you're really Wolverine. Now that would be badass! Seriously though good luck with the surgery and hope you have a speedy recovery. I look forward to the multitude of pain killer induced posts.

    Real Carbon Fiber!

Good luck with teh surgery and that cane is badass...but what did a 34yo do to need a new hip? Sounds like you might be more badass than that cane!
  13. I too thought nav was a major contributor but I have gone periods without nav card installed and still got just as many reboots. Recently Ford requested we remove the phones and still the system is having major issues. So there seems to be something else going on that goes beyond whether you have nav or even connect a phone. I hope it is software since they have already replaced my APIM and that did nothing, but I can't say I have any faith it is software only. If this vehicle had hard buttons for all the vital controls and you didn't need the MFT I would say taking a chance might be OK but since basically everything goes through it you are screwed if it fails.
  14. I think what he is referring to is what the different colors and designations mean. The one screen cap from another vehicle explains the traffic info. I think having something like you had back on the old paper maps that would correlate say a red and white road is an interstate or a gray road is a secondary road.
  15. When you say Sync directions do you mean voice control or calling sync for directions? Well either way the answer to your question is yes and no. You can enter a destination by hand but only if you are not moving. Ford locks out several functions whent he vehicle is in motion. If you are driving you can still manually select a destination if it is stored in the system or if it was a recent destination.
  16. Are you in a rush to do anything? If not I would hold off. We have nothing but problems with ours. Just yesterday it locked up again, no control over radio, HVAC etc and the reboot app Ford gave me didn't work. Eventually I had to pull the fuse to get it somewhat functional again. I really hope the software rewrite fixes things but I have lost all confidence in this system. I would just hate to see you trade in a TL that has probably given you very little issues over the years and have problems right out of the box. Even if this software fixes the issues I feel like our experience thus far has already tainted our ownership experience. Other than the MFT though I do have to say we really like the Edge...just hope it comes around and all of this fades away.
  17. Starting in 2011 they went to a 9012 bulb which does low and high. So when you look for a kit you either need the 9012 or a 9006 bulb. Based on some people having some electrical issues I would highly recommend you also get a wiring harness just to take the load off the stock wiring.
  18. I don't know since I don't have them. But before you go cutting them up more and possibly having an issue returning them I would really check if other 9006 bulbs have tabs in the same spots in relation to the wire or if they differ from yours. If I remember right your top cutoff was OK (as good as it will get with stock assemblies) but you had a shadow from the wire. It does stand to reason that reorienting them will help but I am not sure if that just moves it to be visible when you use high beams.

    Park4U

Not sure I understand the purpose of this. Is it just to allow you to get into a tight spot since you won't have to open a door to get out? If so what if the vehicles on either side of you don't have such an app? Seems like you'd end up with a lot of door dings at a minimum.
  20. That is very strange....I know others have installed 9006 HID kits without the same issues. Before you send it back maybe do an image search and see if that wire is in the same place relative to the tabs as yours. Maybe you just got a bulb with a rotated base?
  21. Fight fight! ah just kidding...I really just want NEED this software update. Sucks that one of the main reasons we bought this vehicle was its seamless integration of phone and media but as of late Ford has recommended I no longer pair phones and anything USB is dead. Please Ford send me the update...
  22. I think it is a relative to what you are expecting. But check out this link: http://www.caranddriver.com/features/effects-of-upsized-wheels-and-tires-tested They ran several size wheels and compared some performance indicators. I also remember reading an article on the 2011 Ford Edge Sort where they said that even with the added power and different tranny set up it was slower than the SE in a sprint to 60.
  23. Well I would do a little more research to be sure but they did use different ratios as per this thread for sport/non sport: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/5282-final-drive-ratio-for-2010-limited-awd-with-20-inch-wheels/
  24. I hope this means it is coming soon. Mine flat out sucks right now. I have to believe just about anything would be an improvement.
