  1. ... and that is why Garmin wins. $90.00 for lifetime and updates 4 times / year. Well that and the fact that Sync doesn't know how to navigate to a fire number street address (rural areas) Like 37W135 Som St, Any Town. But .. I can't talk to my Nuvi.
  2. Well .. I guess that there is something about it being -20F (-28.8C) that makes even the flexible plastic bumpers brittle. I don't remember this being an issue with the Chrysler vehicle I owned. Any who ... driving home from work ... -20 and hit a snow finger (the smallish drifts that cross the road) which was about 6-8" deep at about 40mph. It didn't have that normal "poof" noise that I was expecting. When I got to my garage I and looked for a possible source I found it in the form of a broken lower front air dam (?). Its the black part below the painter main bumper itself. (part #7 below) Question is .. a) does $230.00 sound right for that and it appears to be just a series of clips or plastic pop rivets. Any one know ?
  3. Always the skeptic I was going to ask ... service from a dealer .. or from the manufacture ? .. and then I saw your location .. but still I have to ask ... Ford manufacture service rep ?? WOW. That being asked... WELCOME to forums Todd ! It will be a breath of fresh air to get a "from the horses mouth" info versus semi informed, well meaning, opinions. There are may very good ideas that Ford could have taken from sites likes ours that would have, could have gone a long way in further boosting their image.
  4. between the frame and the ground .. sry couldn't resist. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/8268-floor-jack-point-locations-on-a-2012-edge/ http://lmgtfy.com/?q=jack+stand+ford+edge sry still couldn't resist.
  5. I love my garage ! unattached, uninsulated, unheated and always manages to stay 20-25 above outside temp.
  6. What he said ^ check out this thread and there are several others as well. These infinity kappas are drop in replacements and have very good response (compared to factory) Unless you need your skin to tingle from the boom boom pow ... these will be fine. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/13009-2011-sel-which-infinity-speakers-choosing-a-speaker-selection/
  7. ok .. some additional observations in this light. (HA ! I made a funny) I've noticed that not only will the ambient lighting change randomly from ~20% brightness in RED to 100% turquoise, but the "valid words" help screen also randomly appears when I activate the voice control. Just like the lighting, I can disable it and it goes away with the same reliability as the ambient lighting. Under some condition some variable is not getting read correctly. Definitely a bug in the code, again, bug tracking for QC of a new release. Come on Ford, why do your customers keep having to do your job for you??
  8. mardyn, funny you should mention the turn signal issue. And Akirby, the second someone says "you can't" someone else does so just to say "oh yes we can" These "computers" are just that and they run off a modifiable OS. We know this because we keep getting updates that change its behaviour. The modifications we the buying public just don't rank high enough to get the attention of anyone at Ford's design team nor an enterprising programmer that could reverse engineer the OS and its access. mardyn, I was thinking 5 or 6 blinks. 3 is not enough unless you dart quickly into the adjacent lane. IMO.
  9. An alternate mounting method and solution to the light sensor. http://escortradarforum.com/forums/s...p?t=983&page=3
  10. I just got back from a 2135 mile round trip and the first time I noticed it I chucked it up to being 50. Then the next time I was sure that the Edge is doing it. I had it set for ~20% bright on red. Leave the car - get back in (after dinner) and it's back to 100% bright, stock instrument lighting turquoise. Changed it to 10% bright, on orange, was fine most the day until I shut the car off and left it for a while. Came back, started .. and back to 100% bright, turquoise. Houston .. we have a problem. FYI - 2011 limited awd, airco ~50% and moderate cargo, ~40,000 miles on the engine. I averaged 22.3mpg over the entire trip.
  11. binki - chill .. at <10,000 miles you're still wet behind the ears ... as someone else said .. I wouldn't worry about it till you get out above 10,000 miles and drive a tank or two like a gentleman. And really, what are you going to do about it? The second you drive off the lot its yours. It'd be a very rare set of circumstances that would allow you to return your vehicle even with only 3-5 days on it. If you can't affect it .. don't sweat it. You'll live longer. A good idea too late. I learned a good idea as the last research test before purchasing a car .. rent it for a two week trial. I was able to find a rental place that had the approximate hardware loadout that I was looking at then rented one for a week. Of course, I was smitten by the Edge and I was GOING to have mine and like it.
  12. I can atest to the quality of Draw-tite. My kid brother worked at a place that believe it or not, that was all they did, installed trainer hitches .. He reported that draw-tite consistently had the highest quality hardware.
  13. That is basically the outline I was planning on doing with plasti dip when I did my grill .... but that is sharp looking for sure.
  14. This is one of my pet peeves .. and I am SO lucky that I got mine with no front license plate holder .. as smooth as a babies butt and looks the way it should.
  15. ^-- what he said .. you slide the owners manual up in there and it is suppose to keep the manual up and out of the way .... sort of works.
  16. like they said .. double sided foam tape. with it being foam versus "tape" the foam helps to take up the voids and helps to stick. Plus the door panel comes real close to it so its more or less to hold it in place until you get the panel on.. Wannbang - the problem with "velcro for my HID ballasts" assuming that you're in the engine bay is heat. The heat levels inside the engine bay are high enough that it'll test any adhesive short of an epoxy (thinking JB-Weld) In the engine bay you're better off with mechanical attachment methods.
  17. update: funny thing happened to me on the way home this evening. Pandora has not been doing its 10 second and then skip to the next since the update. Did have to re-pair my phone after the update because the pairing was simply gone. Since then I've had a non-changing notification file name as the song title and "unknown" on the smaller 2nd line. Before, it was always Unknown on both lines. two days ago I got a text on my cell that didn't get announced on Ford Sync .. several in fact. All other behaviour was "normal" (sync normal that is) and I ended up deleting the pairing from both sync and my cell and repairing . fixed. Now getting texts announced as expected. Tonight, I decide to listen to some Pandora .. connect to the BT audio and once connected and listening ... drive on. I happened to look at the large center display and where I had seen my singular notification file name and unknown, I'm seeing something else ... on both lines. Its the track and artist being displayed. Something that I've always expected it to do but it has NEVER done since day one. I quickly advanced it a few songs and sure enough ... I have song titles and artists being fed to my MFT via BT connection from my RazrMaxx !!! WOOT :happy feet: Now .. if it will stay this way. On another front ... a co-worker updated his flex over the weekend and gave the update a 5 star rating. It fixed ALL of his issues. (he drinks the apple juice if you catch my drift)
  18. " It's not worth the effort to make it fully automated when the workaround is for the user to hit a button twice a year." I think this kind of attitude is why Ford's MFT is where its currently at. And a twice a year button press is not accurate either .. mine drifts accuracy of about 3 minutes per month. My wrist watch is accurate to within +/- .02 seconds per year. (compared to the atomic clocks) AXCL nailed it with " fine details that make a good product great."
  19. Jackalope 'lower case text .... along with the 10 character limit" Yep .. that was one of the first things I checked - sort of to answer another poster's question about WiFi in the edge. They've really screwed the pooch on that one. Went from, won't work due to kybd freaking out to we'll limit you to upper case and ONLY 10 characters. .. fail. I think that they [Ford] have a nut loose behind the keyboard that suffers from ID10 T errors ! .. oh and confirmed ... add me to the list. Clock DST setting is forked on mine now !
  20. ok - update ... the recent MFT update to 3.5 - I'm seeing a notification file name in the BT connection, entertainment quadrant of the main screen, and typically in every occurrence but one, this meant skipping was going to happen. Now I'm running on 4 days, 2 connections per day (ride in and ride home) and NO skipping. MFT update was all that was done. Now after a few weeks ... I'll try to break it again by shuffling the notifications around in my phone to see if the delicate balance is once again upset. If I can break it .. then I'll rebuild the phone.
  21. "Again, this worked perfectly with the previous software version." So did the time zone ! and my update deleted all my custom wallpapers.
  22. except for 12 & 14. and 4 & 15 to your two questions. However .. since I learned yesterday that MFT had a new software update .. we'll see how this week goes.
  23. so .. for me as I like cutting edge electronics as well ... do you like it ? Was it worth it from a operational and features standpoint ? Does the new color screen really look as cool as the videos make it look ?
