SVT Edge (FWD or AWD) - Edge Sport - 450-500 hp Ecoboost 3.5 L V6 (Enough to give a GC SRT8 pause about trying to tango with it) - Steering from a Mustang GT - Upgraded and Tuned Suspension including Strut Tower Brace, Subframe Bracing, and larger diameter sway bars - 6 pot Brembo, Baer, or Wilwood brakes - Remove speed limiter (Sports already come with W rated tires as it is) Besides that: - Fix the A/C System so that it blows stronger. My wife and I test drove a 2011 Sport and found it had the same A/C issue as our 2008 and the glovebox trick worked on it as well. - I agree with the Roof Rack. We love the roof rack on our '08 - Make the HIDs a separate option w/o a package that has other things I may not want - Make Foglights an option

Oh, and RJG...I have already explored supercharging a Camaro SS or, if I can afford it, buying a ZL1. If I wasn't as long-legged as I am, I would consider a 2013 GT 500.

Honestly, I have bugged my Ford dealer about the following concept: Edge Sport AWD 365 hp Ecoboost from an SHO (Tune it to around 450-500) Tune the suspension for better handling (also consider strut tower brace, better front and rear sway bars, and subframe bracing) Change the steering to a Mustang GT's Upgrade the brakes to 6 pot Brembos Remove speed governor Upgrade transmission to handle increased HP If SVT came out with something like that for the Edge, I'd be all over it faster than a Bugatti Veyron on nitrous and racing gas goes from 0-60.

Centrifugal blower might work in that instance. However, I am interested in keeping it "stealth" with no noise(s).
-
With that said, wouldn't I have to also figure out a way for the harnesses (wiring) to work on the Edge or are they compatible?
-
akirby: You are just the person I hoped would chime in on something like this. Thanks for confirming that the trans might be the most challenging part of the puzzle. Based on what you are saying, I would have to change to a 6F55 in order to handle any significant HP or could some of the internals from the 6F55 fit into the 6F50? RJG: I see where you're coming from but Mustangs are too tight of a fit for a guy like me.

'08 SE FWD Stock 17" wheels on Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max tires (Soon to be replaced by Pirelli Scorpion Verde) Did rough calculations and I am averaging between 20-22 city (Granted, most of my commute is mostly highway) and somewhere between 26-28 highway.

Note: This thread is applicable to the 3.5L V6 only. This thread is purely exploratory to determine if a project like this is feasible. I am kicking around the idea of forced induction for the Edge. The option that most appeals to me is an STS turbo (aka rear-mount turbo). STS does make a universal kit, however, I need to find out more information. a) One of the main concerns with a project like this is the transmission. I am curious how much horsepower the stock trans can take before I would have to change internals. Could the stock engine take more or is 8 psi the absolute max? c) Am I correct in assuming that I would have to get a programmer and then have whatever shop I use reprogram the PCM? Any suggestions/advice given would be appreciated.

Did you have your transmission flashed?
-
I already have these in the 235/65/17 size (H Rated) and can honestly tell you they aren't a bad tire but are definitely more of a touring type of tire. These tires do protest when pushed but are quite civil under normal driving. I did see some improved fuel economy over the stock Hankooks. My next tires are going to be Pirelli Scorpion Verde (V Rated).

I have used a plethora (literally) of polishes and sealants on my vehicles. I have used Klasse for years and don't see me giving that up any time soon. However, what some people aren't saying is that you can put some carnauba waxes on top of synthetic sealants to add more depth and pop. Klasse has held up nicely during a Chicago Winter and Phoenix Summer (durability is around 6 months). For instance, I am planning to polish my '08 Edge (Rotary polisher) and get some of the swirls out of it. I'll document it for you guys.

Recommendations for replacement pads and rotors
PrinzII replied to Slurp's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
The EBC Green Stuff pads practically destroyed the rotors on my Edge. Will never buy those again. -
Do you still have the foglights?

Ready for the 2011 with my new detailing gear!
PrinzII replied to codyyfz's topic in Appearance - Detailing, Wash & Wax
All you need is a steam extractor....lol -
akirby: I am afraid you may be right. Installing them myself won't be that big of a deal (After all, I have already done that on our '08).

I just looked at the 2011 Edge Sport and found something curious. I know that HIDs are offered as an option but they (like many other desirable options) are part of a package that contains items my wife and I may not want. My question is how can I get the items individually and not get things like the BAMR?

New Owner, Want to install factory fog lamps
PrinzII replied to silverbackedge's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Details? When was this released? -
Update: So far, the Fuel Maxes aren't bad at all. The treadwear (580) is much better than the Hankooks but these tires will protest if pushed hard.
-
Pusateri, it really depends on the HID kit you bought. The key thing to check out is whether or not it has a digital ballast. If it has it, you (may) not need a relay. Case in point, I have been running HIDs on our '08 since February of '08 and have had absolutely no problems, even without the relay.

Recommendations for replacement pads and rotors
PrinzII replied to Slurp's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Long story short, I have installed the Green Stuff pads on our '08 Edge. Since I installed them, I have noticed more dust, noise, and less performance than the stockers. In fact, I am not seeing any improvement whatsoever in braking. I am wondering if I should have gone with the Red Stuff ceramic or the Akebonos. -
I changed mine at 45k.
-
I changed my tires and brake pads around 45-46k. I replaced the stockers with EBC Greenstuff pads and the tires with Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max (H Rated).
-
I went to Discount Tire and picked up a set of the Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max (235 65 HR 17). So far, they aren't too bad but I haven't really put them through their paces (yet)...lol

Honestly, I would greatly consider not tricking out the Edge we have now and just buy either a 2011 Edge Sport or MKX. I like them both but I am curious whether or not the Edge will come with HIDs as does the Flex. If so, would the hi-beam also be HID?
