The subscription is based on you as sirus knows radios fail and people sell and buy cars etc.

A little further research. Sodium Hydroxide is most likely your culprit on this. Found in Water and caustic cleaning solutions. The solution to return the alumimun back to the color you remember it is not a viable solution as you would have to clean it with Nitric Acid, again maybe you need to just live with this and keep the hood closed. Sort of like me, I rarely open the hood unless I need to.

I have discovered that a good set of snow tires on a ford edge FWD will provide nearly the same acceleration on ice and snow as the AWD. The advantage disappears when the AWD also installs snow tires. Tires do make a great deal of difference.

Bubble gum, toilet paper and string would be a fix also, but back to the point that this is an obvious design flaw. The remedy does not fix the problem. Only a redesign of the part with real world information could fix the issue. Process/product improvement? There are many examples of ALL manufacturers of vehicles/products in general that seem to accept failures as part of the public discovery process without having to put in the time for testing and R&D just do it on the backs of the consumer.

Is that really "the fix" on the mustang? That piece of rubber bulb hanging out and boucing on an axle over time will just rot and crack then fall off. Especially if it start to fill with fluid. Looks like they built the axle housing too small.

At this rate I see a class action lawsuit coming against ford.

You had the coolant changed and flushed recently or at least in the last six months? Alkaline chemicals such as coolants and other chemical contanmination. Coolant will turn aluminum black. Just check an aluminum radiator inside and you will see what I am talking about. Heat, chemicals and pressure have strange reactions. Also note aluminum is a highly reactive metal. I am also willing to bet the covers are made with magnesium and nickle alloys for heat resistance and strenght. Ever see a nickle turn black?

PVC is replaced. I just asked for the qoute to get an idea of savings. The tensioner I purchased was OEM. I found some for the price you have but they were not OEM parts, but some sort of knock off, which is the cost the shop was going to charge me. So I went with OEM due to most places saying they could not get the part until the end of the week, which does not fit my window for being back on the road. The belts I purchased are Gates brand. About 40 dollars with tax. The 45 price actually included the PCV after I looked at the receipts. I have a few days early this week as down time and paperwork days so I am taking advantage of it to get the belts and tensioner replaced.
-
Numerically speaking every month they delay is a resulting savings as the model years involved are crashed, destroyed or otherwise removed from the market. Thus they do not have to pay to replace the tanks.
-
PCV $5.00 Belts $45.00 Tensioner $123.00 (OEM) only place that had one on hand Lift rental $12.00 Total: 184.00 plus misc. breakfree etc. Mechanics shop qoute: ball park $500.00

Next week changing the serpetine, but what are your thoughts on changing/replacing the whole tensioner or just the wheel/bearing? I figure the bearing and tensioner replacement will equal to the same amount of work. Just comes down to cost. Bearing is cheaper by 60 bucks.

How many miles were on the engine before it failed. This would make for a great Youtube video documentary.

Come on FORD does it take 8 months to make a fuel tank? NO! There is more to this story than FORD is admitting to and the silence is deafening.
-
I doubt I would notice the difference, unless the filter is really dirty. I am still wondering when it comes time for fuel tank replacement if ford will even offer to replace mine with nearly or over 300k on the vehicle.
-
Interesting fact: Almost 13,000 gallons of fuel have been run through the fuel filter and fuel system in my ford edge so far.

Yes Blackstone. The results could be "Golden" or a "Horror"

Since I am so curious as to the state of the 3.5L engine condition I have ordered an oil analysis kit. $25.00 to have a lab test the oil and find out just how much wear and tear this engine has on it. I will post a video review of the results once I change the oil (Two weeks?) Then one week for the results to come back. This should be very interesting and let me know just how much life is left in the engine. My current track and due to changes in my client numbers and scheduling should have the 300K mark being reached earlier than expected. ETA to 300K might be as early as August.

I feel silly. After 4 months of my aftermarket remote not working I finally took it to the installer and within 1 min she came back and said "all fixed" I said what was wrong and she asked me if I had a bad battery or replaced it? Yep in October, which is when the remote stopped working. Apparently all it needed was a quick reprograming. Warmed car in the morning is a great thing....

Yep any company that makes their water pumps out of plastic is not looking for longevity (BMW) of course you could by a mercedes I hear one shock on a mercedes costs $1200.00 not including labor.

Did a quick touch test on the rotors today and all four are smooth as glass with no indentations or ridges. Should be interesting to see the condition of the pads when I check.

This last week I have been noticing my brakes in the right rear seem to be grinding and I get a sensation of grabbing. Next week I will inspect them when I get done replacing the serpetine and power steering belts and the tensioner bearing. The rears only have about 35 to 40k miles on them, but I chose to have the rotors resurfaced and not sure about the quality of pads the repair shop installed. The fronts only have about 90k miles on them, but I had new rotors and i believe the pads were a carquest brand. I will video the serpetine belt and power steering belt replacement and post a link to my youtube on this form topic. I may even have a brake video if the brakes need replacement. We need more Ford Edge repair videos!!!

Might just be my own logical opinion but I would not purchase a recalled fuel tank. Good luck to those who do.
-
I am still trying to get the video on the lockness monster and big foot, so had to settle for the PCV. LOL
-
Why pay 200.00 for a fuel tank that is being recalled for failure? I would stay away from that one.
