My edge is an SE with the basic wheels, but then again 14 inches of snow tends to get into everything.

Spot check on fuel mileage today. I had some prestart winter idling on the tank, but the mileage was at 20.1mpg. This is about normal for this edge. This is at 75mph consistantly.

Had a snow and slush issue with the edge today. Yesterday slush accumulated in the wheel wells. This morning I was driving down intersate 80 just a few miles and was noticing a really rough hard ride. Pulled over at the World's Largest Truck stop and found the wheel wells were completely filled with the frozen slush and the tires were all rubbing front, back and top on the frozen slush. Spent a few minutes cleaning out the wheel wells and the the Edge lost about 100lbs of ice in the process. I also had to clean ou the wheels as they were out of balance from the built up snow. I have never liked the new deeper wheels as they clog up with snow so easy and unbalance the wheels. you either have to brush it out or go to a car wash in some cases and power wash the ice and snow out of the wheels.

Are you saying they replaced your fuel tank in three weeks?

Go to auto store and get a can of spray (forget name) to coat the connections. This will prevent the blue gunk.(corrosion) I use this stuff on my golf carts all the time and it works great to keep the batteries clean and running. Electrical grease will work also. I trust unknown mechanics about as much as I trust my ex-wife.

Which is why I never buy new cars. Add the miles I drive into the equation and I buy the low end models with just the basic items I need. I still end up with a worthless car every four years, no matter what I do to keep it in good shape. I don't keep them pretty just mechanically safe and reliable. -
No idea on this for ya. I am sure some auto body shop has a fix for it, but the cost may be an issue. But in the kidding side of the house, just park it in a walmart parking lot up front then the two scratches would not matter.

Does anyone know of a cheap easy way to remove the crappy chrome on the side view mirrors. The chrome on my edge is peeling off like birchwood. The front grill is bubbled and peeling off around the ford emblem and other areas are bubbled up. I can only assume this is from rock chips, then water and then freezing etc. I want to remove it then paint it black with a rubber paint. Plastidip if you will.

Sorry I do not understand your point based on my previous statement. -
You might want to find another dealer but then again they all claim ignorance on this one. They don't want to go through the hassels of giving you a loaner for the next year. By the way you are entitled to a loaner.

In the past while shopping for a Ford Edge I found two things about the used ones. 1) fleet rental/lease wholesale at auction or 2) one owner trade in. These were the two reasons I found for them to be for sale used. Maybe the Edge is now common enough the dealers are auctioning them off? Last decision is yours. You drove it, you had it checked out. When buying used it is a crap shoot as far as previous owners maint. records or any maint. at all. Good news is most everything broken can be fixed when needed. -
I use Moog parts whenever possible. The rear bearings (if I remember) have options. 1) you can change out the bearing only, but you need access to a press) or 2)you can change out the whole hub. Changing the whole hub cost more. The front will be hub only replacement if I have things right. I think if you check out a few videos on strut changes you will get the idea. I never video recorded my change out. One thing is to remove the plastic covering that is over the strut this will open up tons of access to the top three mounting bolts over the struts otherwise they are a mama bear to get to. Not really hard to do.

Funny you caught the color match on the jacket. The jacket was a gift from my wife and has a tan overcoat. She bought it and when I took the jacket and seperated the shell from the overcoat I discovered the liner/jacket was the same color as my edge. Total accident but a few people have mentioned the color match. Maybe I am just desitined to like that color.

Just making an errand in the winter storm in Iowa today. The Ford edge getting around with no problem, well I did have an avalanch at the end of the video from all the snow on the roof but did that on purpose to get it all off. Yes I do beat on the ole car a bit but it is tough. The rattling you hear is not the car. I carry a lot of equipment in it and it all sits in the back seat and back cargo area and rattles all the time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adKnIOJWnIU

It smells of repossed vehicle, one tire replaced and then auctioned immediately. Not to mention the current dealer has been trying to off load this car for 10 months. I would look for another vehicle. -

It says they replaced a tire and aligned it. You said that one tire is miss matched. I am stating what the car fax is reflecting. -

The dealer installed the wrong tire? And had it aligned and now it needs alignment again? Something is not adding up. -

If it needs an alignment and one tire is missing bet is it hit something really hard. Check the car fax and if it was a one owner how did they get it. Damage, replaced tire of wrong type, alignment, = auctioned vehicle or rental maybe even a repossed vehicle. From what I researched quickly the price does not seem out of line. Now it comes to your negotiation tactics. Remember it is a car and ford makes a lot of them. Not the only fish as they say. Personnally speaking: shop around for others. Take the salesman or woman right up to point of signing anything. Talk and delay then say your deal does not work for me and then walk out, if they call back then good if not you are already looking at other vehicles. -
If you are a DIY type go out and get the new stretchy belt for the power steering and new serpentine and tensioner about 160 dollars Then do what I did in this video

The blackstone labs test kit arrived yesterday in the mail. This test kit is for oil analysis to help determine the health of your engine for those who do not know what it is. This test will reveal wear and even antifreeze leaks among other issues. I have about 2k miles to go until the next 5k oil change. I estimate this to occur about the 11th or 12th of February. Once collected it takes about a week to receive the results. I will then create a review of the results and post it in here on the Ford Edge forum under this same topic. Can not wait to see what the results are.
