  1. Rest assured your tranny is mechanically sound at least from my perspective. I have had the same issues at about 200,000 miles and once the sensor (rear output) was replaced, i have not had an issue. Spark plugs also gave me a problem, but I ran them way too long and once they were replaced the engine regained it's power back. Regular maintenance is the best course of action. I do use Top Tier gas whenever possible and occasional fuel injector cleaner.
  2. This is what a PCV looks like after 264,000 miles. Overall it rattles just like the one I replaced it with. I would say I most likely did not need to replace it, but for 5 bucks what the heck. If you want to know what I went through to replace it please refer to the post under the 3.5l engines in the forum and look for the PCV replacement. I linked two youtube videos showing the location and then the removal/installation. I would have picked a better location for the placement, but maybe the Ford engineers felt placing it under the intake and near the firewall was a great location.

    3.5L PCV Valve

Raw video, but got the darn PCV out. Not a very comfortable position to remove it. For those who do not know where it is located the mystery is now on video.

    3.5L PCV Valve

Ok the first video locating the ever elusive 2008 Ford Edge PCV valve. Next video will show removal and replacement.

    3.5L PCV Valve

I have now created a short video on youtube and the video of the PCV valve shows no wires or connections. Just a straight tube. I am going to remove and replace it as apparently the parts guy did give me the correct part. My question is do the newer edges have electrical connections on the PCV valves or am I missing something. I will make a video best to my space and ability showing the removal and replacement of the PCV valve.

    3.5L PCV Valve

Well then after looking at the diagram I found thanks to akirby. The parts store sold me the Engine Crankcase Breather Hose Elbow, which is a straight plastic piece with a small gasket. Might as well replace it since it is cheap $5.00. Now back to the parts store to get the PCV with the little electrical connector.

    3.5L PCV Valve

Ok, I am going to change the PCV valve on my 08 Edge. I am looking and apparently have some sort of learning disorder. Where is this thing located? any photo or diagram available to help with this. I have been searching the internet and apparently photos and diagrams are as elusive as the Big Foot photos in the wild.
  8. Good gas is important. I rarely buy mom and pop gas and casey's gas. Most of the time I use Shell or Kwik Star tier one. This decision seems to have served me well over the miles of driving. I do add some injector cleaner on occasions when I feel I have reached a time to do so.
  9. A loaner for 9 months?! The dealer would have a heart attack if they knew what I would do with the loaner for 9 months. That would equal nearly 45k miles on the loaner. The depreciation value on the loaner would outweigh the cost of the repair getting done sooner.
  10. Changed the oil after 5k miles and no real noted loss of oil and the rear seal seems to have stopped leaking. Praise for High mileage Mobile one motor oil.
  11. I am going to change out the Serpetine belt and power steering belt at the end of the month. I will post a few photos of the belts and maybe even make a video of the job on my youtube. Thought some of you would like to see a few photos of a serpetine belt with over 265,000 miles on it and the condition it is in after I replace it. Going to change out the tensioner also. Who knows maybe the whole car will collapse because the serpetine belt is what is holding it together. LOL. Wish me luck as this is the first time I will be working on it. Thankfully the army base has a skilled mechanic on hand at the skills shop to bail me out should I get in over my head.
  12. This problem will ultimately end up reducing the resale value of AWD Edge's I know I do not want one. Ford needs to take this problem and treat it as a serious defect and hire a new engineer team since the current engineers do not know how to correct it.
  13. I have been using the Black box HD in my Edge for over 8 months and am looking to put one rear facing as well. Even in the US I get some interesting video clips.

    Wheel bearing?

I would say bearing, but so few miles to really consider a bearing. Wheel bearings make noise based on speed and comes and goes with turning while driving down the highway. Rule of thumb is if you have to turn the radio up to hear it then it is a wheel bearing. At least this has been true for my Edge. I have replaced 6 so far.
  15. Spark plugs can also cause the problem with the O2 sensor as was my case. Plugs need to be changed and the O2 sensor. I had the same issue due to plugs that were in too long.
  16. There are several youtube videos on this same problem for the ford edge. Results are replacing the unit.
  17. 11 degrees below zero and the Edge cranked over and started. Of course a new battery helps.
  18. Ha Ha it states this "Transmission filled for life to reduce cost of ownership" really? and this fluid will still be good at 300K miles?
  19. This PTU problem seems to be an obvious engineering design failure placed on the consumer to replace a PTU at thousands every 50-75k No thanks.
  20. One tool you will need is a hammer. I had to have one to remove the shield on my hubs on my Chevy Trailblazer and I am sure it is the same situation.
  21. EIther that or a bad credit GPS tracker was placed on it. Very common anymore with banks and credit unions etc.
  22. Thanks. Sort of a kick in the pants on the radio display. Guess if I get fed up with it I will need to replace it with an aftermarket radio, which could lead to other issues. I will wait and see.
