  1. Here it is. Hope this helps people out. Wish I had a camera man but this gets the point across.
  2. Sport models have laminated glass?
  3. im posting a video in the next few minutes
  4. Yup. It's Colorbond . That stuff is awesome. Seriously lasts longer than factory color on leather. In a few years when my leather gets some wear Im going to color the center panels of my seats with the darker accent color of the interior. Paul Im happy its still holding up.
  5. That looks good to me. just worries me that he straps go over the rear wing.
  6. I hope the top straps are attached the body panel and not the glass or the spoiler panel. That panel is going to rip off with the weight of bikes and your bikes will be dragged along the highway as your tailgate and bumper cover gets mangled from the remaining attachments. Even as it is attached now there is an extreme amount of pressure on that spoiler panel and it will break.
  7. It should be safe to assume that all these Edges are limited models with laminated glass. I hope that doesn't happen to me
  8. I don't think you'll get much in the way of compensation. Maybe free oil change. Most dealers play by the books and will always want to do best by the customer. They aren't going to push you aside because you have got to remember that Ford is paying them to do the work. the part is most likely what is holding them up. Just let them do there thing.
  9. All of these 2012 models have them. First picture is Ecoboost Limited with 20" wheels Second picture is 3.5 SEL with 18" wheels Third picture is a 3.5 Limited with 20" wheels
  10. I've seen them on Limiteds, and SEL models. Pretty sure they weren't Ecoboosts because they didnt have the extended rocker panels. Maybe it has something to do with AWD vs FWD or the wheel size. Mine has the 20" wheels with AWD.
  11. I noticed the other day that some 2011-2014 Ford Edges have little wind deflectors attached to the lower bumper in front of the tires. Mine doesn't. Is it something that was forgotten to be added at the factory?
  12. Sounds like a coil pack issue. If it is a coil that is bad you could be sending raw fuel into to exhaust system and that will destroy your catalytic converter on the manifold. So get it fixed ASAP. Your Edge will eventually send out a check engine code.
  13. waiting for rain to end. Car will be at dealer getting fixed tomorrow. So maybe tomorrow night will be a good time to film.
  14. I have an Ford ESP Premium Care with rental. Should I get the rental even though I'm still within my Standard warranty? Dealer says no I dont get one until Im past 36k or 3 years.
  15. It is Permatex Dielectric grease. great for conditioning rubber weather striping on your Edge too.
  16. Just wanted to let everyone know that when you lubricate a vista roof's tracks it can close as fast as 6.5 seconds! Mine has always taken 9 seconds to close from full open position. But recently I was in the car driving and my vista roof wouldn't close without assistance of my father pushing it. Pretty embarrassing. So that next morning I lubricated the back half of the track (under the black rubber strips). There was no residue of any lubrication at all. So I used two pea sized amounts of dielectric grease on each side of the vista roof tracks. BAM! it went from no close to super highspeed! Well for a vista roof its fast. 6- 6.5 seconds. I chose dielectric grease because it works great with high temperatures and doesnt harm rubber and plastic. Not only that but while your up there you may as well lubricate the rubber seals as they also create friction on the roof panel. Dielectric grease is what most manufacturers use to clean and lubricate any rubber door and roof seals. II think i am going to make a video on how to properly clean and lubricate the vista roof.
  17. You can remove the protector. Just apply heat to it and the tape will soften up. There are some nice Chinese ones that are stainless steel on then internet.
  18. PaulSchott and Closetotheedge FYI the Limited on the 2011 and up has laminated glass that adds to the sound proofing. The glass has two distinct layers and is about a .25" thick total thickness. So yes the front windshield is Soundscreen Glass and side glass on my Edge is Laminiated.
  19. So, The 2012 Edge is in the shop(dealer). Here is what is getting looked at/ done. 1. BAMR accordian black piece keeps detatching from track on bottom. 2. High pressure power steering line leaking. 3. Passenger side window glass has air pocket in laminate. 4. Drivers door AJAR warning when doors are closed. 5. Front Ford Emblem is starting to show moisture under clear coat on chrome. 6. HVAC temperature not accurate. 7. Funky shifts with transmission when coasting and then hitting gas. 6. Finally the standard Oil change. BTW I only have 16,000 miles... We will see how this pans out.
  20. Looking at this diagram I dont see a reason you couldnt have both controls! if you look at it you'll notice the paddle shifter is an open circuit that shifts when closed. So you should be able wire the paddle shifters up with out removing functionality of the selectshift button.
  21. Defective airbags are being recalled by Takata. They are the leading manufacturer of airbags worldwide. I really hope that our Ford Edges are not part of the recall. These airbags deploy with shrapnel and have killed 6 people world wide.
  22. I had my weather striping replaced last year because it was shrinking off the door jamb. Well it seems to be happening again. Mostly on the rear doors. Does anyone have a similar issue? Could someone take pictures of their door jambs? If you have the same issue youll be able to see the spot welds in the corners of the door frame. Pictures of your Edge would be great wether or not it has the same issue.
