  1. Mine were used. I just bought them off the classified section. They were fine and not broken. The passenger side was a little easier to remove. On the driverside I removed the sill by pulling up on the sill near the seat to release one clip. Then I used a small flat bar to wedge between the rubberweather striping and the sill and pry up on it. Because the clips are attached to the weatherstriping and the wire bundle. They wont break if you know where to pry. Also I used the solid purple wire which is located under both the sills. The purple wires were on the top of each bundles so it was really easy to find that is the (+) wire. I grounded the LED (-) wire to a ground screw located at the front of the sill where the sill meets the dash. very easy install. It took me 25 minutes.
  2. Thanks. I've heard people complaining that Ford shows the sills with blue letters but when installed it has white illumination. I hope it helps people out.
  3. I think the website was a little slow because now the video seems to flow smoothly.
  4. hmm... Is there another way to upload it to the site?
  5. I have the same noise too. It seems to have started more recently at 10,000miles. I think it has something to do with the valvetrain a lower RPMs.
  6. I made a video to show how simple changing the color of the illuminated Edge Logo on the scuff plate. Before you see the video I want to apologize for the horrible lighting but I was filming alone and needed to dim the lights to show the logo. Here ya go. Hopefully this helps other Edge and Ford owners that want to change the color. In this video I used a blue LED with a resistor already attached for 12volts. http://vid195.photobucket.com/albums/z66/ajc6882/20141206_183908_zpsxiv9pyge.mp4
  7. Did they sell you a prototype lol, I hope things get better.
  8. My 2012 has adjustable ratcheting head rests in the front. and a flush head rest in the rear. So they got rid of the flush head rest in 2013+? It does block my rear view. that could be why.
  9. WTH you have very bad luck. I've never heard of a car having so many problems. Are you sure that they didn't crash this car in the first 5 miles? Sure sounds like they made the car out of all defective parts.
  10. Sounds like this vehicle was in an accident and rebuilt either as a used car or as a new car(by dealer or Ford prior to first purchase.)
  11. lol. I will be changing it out as soon as I get the LEDs in the mail. When that happens I will take some pictures and do a how too.
  12. I knew that would get someone's attention. So If you pull out the sill and look at he bottom black cable. You'll notice that its a pretty simple set up. That cable is a fiber optic bundle with a LED on the end. So just pull the white LED out and install the color of your choice. I would recommend a RBG LED then you can make it pretty much any color you would like and you can match the colors of the ambient lighting system. I'm going to match mine to the dashboard colors when I get a chance.
  13. Just want to say that it is possible to change the color of the Edge text on the illuminated door sills. It's very easy.
  14. That's what I was thinking. Im sure the dash is super thin around the air bag so that when the bag goes off it will tear right through.
  15. I noticed the same thing the other day. I don't think it's some thing that is unusual to find in any car. But I would be interested in knowing if it is considered a defect.
  16. 2014 should fold flat. My 2012 does. Maybe when they changed the center headrest style in 2013 that made the driver side sit higher.
  17. Just want to correct you. Chrome edge wheels are plastic caps glued to aluminum alloy wheels. They are not steel.
  18. It has got to be a module of some sort. or a relay. possibly a thermostat sensor(might be built into the element).
  19. I lightly rubbed the scratches with a scotch bite pad in the direction of the grain. Then rubbed the stainless with a cloth with white vinegar on it. I did this a few times over the last few days and also let the moisture sit on it. The white vinegar helps accelerate the formation of the natural oxidation on stainless steel the protects it from rust.. I'm pretty impressed with the results. It looks almost perfect.
  20. It might be that the back door needs to be adjusted or shimmed out on the top hinge to bring it out more in order to make it flush with the drivers door.
  21. I have some pretty bad scratches on my stainless door sill on the passenger side and was wondering if anyone had some repair methods. The scratches are not deep, but it doesn't look very good in my opinion. I was thinking that I could use some 000 steel wool and brush it with the grain. Does anyone know if the illuminated door sills can be installed into the existing plastic sill trim? or do I need to purchase the whole sill panel in order to upgrade.
