  1. Seems that switch design has been problematic, at least in the earlier builds. Mine seems to work fine, but it does stick occasionally in the left signal position, even if only pushing to the lane change indentation.
  2. The oiling is required in order for the filter to remain "sticky" to catch dirt going through the filter. Paper filters do not and should not be oiled as they are a finer material that collects the dirt on its own. The K&N filters add power by allowing more airflow into the engine due to the material being more porous. If the filter is being placed inside the stock air intake enclosure, any sound change will likely be minimal. The only time you really notice much change in tone is if you switch to the open element type of filter.
  3. They actually check the filter during smog testing in CA? They don't here in MD. Would most inspectors honestly even know the difference even if they did?
  4. Sort of related, but not quite the same: I recently switched to a Samsung Galaxy S5. It reads texts fine, but after it reads them, is the new message indicator on the main MFT screen supposed to disappear or does it stay until you clear the new message flag on the phone itself? Also, the notification display on the right-hand MFT cluster display will remain there if I use the main screen to tell it to play the message instead of using the steering wheel controls. Shouldn't it return back to its previous screen after it's already read?
  5. Likely coindidence, unless you happened to go with a lower viscosity rating, which will tend to find its way into smaller gaps.
  6. The 3.5 tunes would probably work safely on the 3.7, but you might be able to get a bit more out of it with a custom tune specifically for the 3.7.
  7. I have heard that the EcoBoost engines are known to consume some oil, but what you are describing does sound excessive. Have you inspected the underside of the engine bay to see if there is any oil accumulation anywhere on the engine/chassis? It's possible that the leak only occurs while the engine is under load, which could explain the lack of oil on the garage floor.
  8. I had the same issue when just installing an OE paper replacement. I just don't think the clip design is particularly good, that's all.
  9. But who reads that? I'll admit I had the same difficulty with mine when I first got it. Just assumed the entire door handle was a switch that either locked or unlocked just based on the previous lock state. Some things you just expect to be intuitive in a different way than they are.
  10. Ah yeah, forgot about that one. I seem to have one of the only relatively trouble-free MFT cars on the planet though.
  11. The brake booster is the only extended warranty campaign for it I'm aware of. As for a couple of the others, the alarm not arming is likely a result of the door sensor being bad, which is illuminating the door ajar light. It won't arm with a door open as I recall.
  12. Make sure you're touching the right part of the handle. Unlock sensor is on the inside of the handle, the lock is the bulbous area on the outside of the handle. If you're touching both at once it'll act a little quirky.
  13. Definitely had an odd smell from mine when it was relatively new while all the exhaust coatings were breaking in. Disappeared within the first couple thousand miles though.
  14. The first releases of MFT had a "favorites" home screen option. I never used it once. I do like your idea of being able to hide (or minimize) a quadrant to allow another to take up two spaces though. I could do without seeing the phone and nav screens most of the time.
  15. Changed the PCV valve since you bought it? If that's stuck open, the smoke could just be some excess oil that was blown into the intake being burned off on startup. Similar issue happened on my old Mazda6. Cheap fix as well. Hopefully it's just something minor like that.
  16. The only main thing I'd really like Ford to fix on MFT is to make it respond faster. I'm perfectly fine with the layout of everything. It has always seemed quite intuitive to me. Most of the other things I would change are mostly aesthetic: change some of the button and font sizes, especially on the main audio screen, etc. Things like that. As for the nav, on longer trips I find myself usually loading the nav directions in the right-hand instrument panel screen (which gives a little more info than the default nav quadrant does) and then just doing everything I normally do with that screen with the main touch screen or auxiliary buttons instead.
  17. No complaints about the brakes in my '11 Sport. I do believe Ford revamped the brakes with the 2011 refresh.
  18. I'm sure the MKX seats would go right in. I'm also sure they wouldn't be cheap. I've put up with mine for a few years now and I actually find them to be quite comfortable and it's been on a few good road trips. My only real complaint on them is some discoloration on the lighter gray near the base of the seat back from clothing dye bleeding into them. As for the heat issue, they are certainly no worse than any other non-ventilated leather seats out there in that regard. As to why they don't offer ventilation? Simply a choice they made I guess. Ventilated seats in general aren't exactly common across the line from any automakers outside of luxury brands.
  19. Hmmm. Only consistent issues on my 11 Sport are MFT-related, and those I would consider minor at worst. Only things that have truly failed on it were the paint on the driver's door handle flaking off and a leaking PTU seal, both fixed under warranty. At 78,000 miles now with no other issues. Suppose I've been lucky.
  20. I would say entirely unrelated. Far as i know, Sync and/or MFT don't interact with the ECU in any way.
  21. Eh, probably won't be nearly as much of the case going into next year with the redesigns. There will still be overlap, but not as much. Could also be some sort of edict from Ford/Lincoln to ask to keep the forums separated to help brand perception in exchange for consideration for things like licensing which I know the forum owner participates in with merchandise.
  22. Haha for sure. I usually reset mine about once every season.
