  1. The turn signal assembly within the mirror is available as a separate part. Contact your local dealer and get the part # or fordparts.com and enter your vin and search "mirror." Not cheap but better than an entire mirror.
  2. I put the Draw-Tite on my 16 Sport along with the included wiring. I too am disappointed with the low clearance of the receiver but hey...give and take for getting a sport. I didn't have to remove the bumper cover to install the wiring though I did pop it off a little but from the retainers where the taillights sit. That gave enough room to run the wiring from bottom up to the lights. I also took off the white plastic holder on the original vehicle side of the electrical connector for each light and put it on the trailer light kit of the same plug. I then shoved the original connector down further and clipped the trailer light kit plug where the original factory one went. That means I didn't have to try to tuck and hide the trailer wiring to get the lights back in. I also ran power for the light controller from the fuel pump power. There is a small hole in the spare tire well that you can pop out a dime size plug and send your power wire through (of course I used wire loom and resinstalled the grommet and sealed it). The trailer lights will only work in the ignition on position. Not ideal but I don't plan on breaking down while towing (I hope!!). I would choose a source that can handle the amps for your taillights in addition to what it is already driving. I have LED taillights so no biggie and I fuse it on the at 7.5 amps instead of 10. As far as the 12V power outlets...one of the F150 guys found that timer for those is adjustable via programming or can be turn on all the time or off all the time (when ignition off).
  3. My goal with the above is to confirm whether or not the USB hub I am getting will work/fit in the 16 Edge and be appropriate for Carplay. If it does, people can order theirs early (if they wish to replace it themselves) and be ready for when the 2.0 update is released. I do not know if the software update will be available to dealers only or not. I suspect it will be available to the end user since Android Auto won't require a new USB hub and I can see AA users getting ticked if they have to go to the dealer just for software but one never knows until Ford officially releases it.
  4. The official upgrade will be a software release and hardware (USB hub) if you want to use Carplay. Neither has been released yet. I just happen to have an APIM with 2.0 in it however. Without getting into too much detail there are many hardware versions of the SYNC3 APIM already. Some support 2.0 already, some don't. Somewhere mid July or so the new 16 Edge's being built are equipped with 2.0 versions of the APIM but NOT the USB hub. I should get the USB hub tomorrow that I believe will work in the 16 Edge and then I will test it with the spare 2.0 APIM I have to see if Carplay functions with it. If it does, I will be taking the car apart and installing them.
  5. All these options could be programmed with IDS or Forscan. IDS is the official Ford dealer programming software and Forscan is a 3rd party software. Doing it yourself would be at your own risk. While it is pretty hard to mess something up beyond correction...it can be done. If you hose something beyond your own repair, warranty isn't going to cover it but warranty isn't going to be voided because you enabled or disable an option.
  6. If you are still working this problem, send me a PM and I will help you straighten it out and see where the fault resides and get it fixed if possible.
  7. There hasn't been an official release date that I know off. New model 16s starting sometime in July are shipping with an updated APIM that is running version 2.0 but DO NOT have the carplay USB ports. I believe I found another vehicle (17 with car play) that uses the same USB port as my 16 Edge and have ordered that as I have an APIM with 2.0 in it sitting on my desk. Once I get the USB ports I will play some and probably stick it in the Edge.
  8. I wanted to verify something before replying to this. It does appear a 15 Sport would do the same changes I did. If you have something other than a Sport I would need to look into that. I used Ford IDS and a VCM2 (the true dealer software/hardware) however if you research "Forscan" that can be used as well. Once I verify that all the sub models work with the mod and the mods are the same then I am willing to post it publicly. I do not like to post information that has not been thoroughly tested as sometimes the settings are different between model years/sub models, etc. Mis-use or mistakes can also cause vehicle issues...Forscan took my Explorer down for a day until I figured out what was wrong as it took a configuration it should have rejected but did not. Long story, don't ask, lol.
  9. That would be the same type of setup you currently have. Totally different from what the 16 Edge. I was going to test it with someone on a 17 Explorer but his equipment can't access all the modules involved.
  10. 2011 is a totally different setup. You don't even have door modules. On the 16 Edge the moon roof is not connected to the global window functions at all. In looking into that it likely takes additional wiring which I really don't feel like taking a brand new vehicle apart to see if the wiring really is missing.
  11. I have a 16 Sport. I have successfully added CLIMATE to the right side of instrument cluster. Mine has global window opening from the factory. I added global close to the IPC and enabled it in the door modules and have that working. If you have programming software and hardware that can access the as built data for those let me know and I can help you out (free) for adding that stuff. Jason
  12. SSM 45578 - Effective Jan 8 2016 2015-2016 Edge and 2016 MKX - Procedure To Disable Autolocks SSM 45578 - 2015-2016 Edge and 2016 MKX - Procedure To Disable Autolocks Some 2015-2016 Edge and 2016 MKX customers may request to have the autolocks disabled. The autolocks are not a customer configurable feature. If a customer request to have the autolocks disabled, use IDS version 98.04 or higher to disable the autolocks. Enter Module Programming - Programmable Parameters - Power Door Locks - Auto Lock 1-5 - Enable/Disable. To disable the autolocks, Auto Lock 1 through Auto Lock 5 all need to be disabled prior to pressing the tick mark. Disabling the autolocks at the request of the customer cannot be claimed as a warrantable repair. Section 501-14 of the online Workshop Manual is being updated to provide direction on disabling the autolock feature. 13. I just installed a Remote Access system in my 16 Edge Sport and can confirm that it works. Just a pain to reach up and plug in the main harness plug that gets connected.
  14. Just got done installing the Remote Access setup that I pulled from the Explorer. A bit of a pain but not too bad.
  15. The explorer was a bit "large" for my use and wasn't as good handling IMO. This fits better in garage too. Haven't driven it other than the test drive and the 2.5 hours drive back home. Better "tech" stuff on the Edge Sport than the Explorer Sport as well. I ordered a hitch and wiring kit for $180 total.
  16. I have joined the Edge crowd. Picked up an Electric Spice 16 Edge Sport 401A with most of the additional extras as well. Hoping to enjoy it. Just ordered a hitch for it. A little disappointed they don't have a hitch option for the Sport but guess you can't have everything.
  17. SSM 45936 - 2015-2016 Edge And 2016 MKX - Noise From Cooling Fans - Built On Or Before 6/11/2016 Some 2015-2016 Edge and 2016 MKX vehicles built on or before 6/11/2016 may exhibit a noise from the electric cooling fans, most noticeable right after the engine is turned off as they spin down to a stop. If the noise can be pinpointed to the cooling fan motor, install a new cooling fan motor and shroud F2GZ-8C607-E which was released for service to resolve this concern.
  18. You are welcome and thanks for letting me have the opportunity to upgrade it for you! One thing people should be aware of is the Sirius module is located within the ACM and is not interchangeable. So one thing Sirius Sat. subscribers will need to consider is the transfer of the service to the new ESN.
  19. The APIM is the MFT brain. You would have to pull that and send it to me along with the ACM. Just email me direct....jason@fordpimods.com
  20. Not sure on the RDS...that is something I would have to test. The ACM is the audio control module. If you are going to acquire one from the dealer be prepared to pay out the nose. It is the CD player, it contains the AM/FM radio, CD player and Sirius. Don't forget you also have to get the APIM reprogammed which the dealer cant do.
  21. I have figured out how to enable HD radio. It requires replacement of your ACM with an HD equipped ACM and then reprogramming of that ACM to match your vehicle along with programming the APIM to enable HD radio.
  22. Personally I would never use a pre 2012 apim anyway. The ones prior to that had lots of issues (2010-2011)
  23. Knowing the process involved it would be very easy for Ford to make it available as a pay per vehicle upgrade.
  24. I am going to address this...everyone has their own opinion: I use legit OEM Ford Equipment/Software to add the Navigation. I pay Ford a yearly fee in order to be able to do this not to mention I have purchased Ford's OEM equipment to do it. The "license" that is utilized is generic as ALL APIMs with Navigation use the same Nav "license." I download it right from Ford. Ford chooses not to offer this as a post purchase accessory which they are shooting themselves in the foot for. There is no intent to defraud Ford of money since they do not offer it themselves. This service is for people who buy a used vehicle without NAV (beyond their control) or bought a new vehicle and regret not buying NAV with the vehicle. I will not upgrade for anyone that says hey I want to save a few bucks and order a new car then have you add it. There are many people out there who prefer OEM integrated solutions for their vehicles. I have no issue with people who want to use 3rd party navigation such as Garmin's or their phones. So Ford makes money because I have to pay them in order to offer the service plus either I have to buy the Navigation SD cards or the end user does. And no I will not discuss any further details as to how I do it.
