I had to push the issue hard with the svc. manager. Finally after the 2nd "special brake flush" issue with brakes was corrected!

After umpteen posters advised you to take it to a competent dealership service centre, that dealership eventually learnt how to bleed brakes systems that include ABS.

You say the issue is corrected on your vehicle - does that mean they have changed the "coating on rear internal disc brake parts" ?

The engineering is all the same across all these vehicles.   Same components.  Do a google check on loss of brakes on a ford edge....hundreds of people have posted on line.

When the potential exists for loss of life, I'm sorry, your perceived etiquette rule does not apply.

All you have to do is look at the Takata Debacle.......

The 100% way to verify this would be to examine all the components drawings from Akebono.  If you can obtain them I would be happy to review them.

Come now, you made the claim, you back it up.

    https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1&q=loss+of+brakes+on+a+ford+edge

Point out which of the search results draws attention to "Seems there is an Issue with "coating on rear internal disc brake parts"".

Closing the loop on this subject.    It's important to always close the loop on major issues so people can learn, save time, energy, money, or their lives!

This ordeal has taken from November 30th to December 3rd, 2018.   An eternity when your dealing with loss of brakes!

Went back to the same dealership yet again today to have yet another 'brake flush' or power bleed performed on my vehicle.

I complained over and over that the brakes felt like mush and the pedal would go to the floor.

It took the dealership ~ 2.5 hours to perform the bleed.

The service manager was now involved, upon my insistence.

I got the vehicle back and low and behold, my brakes feel like original equipment, brand new, off the lot!!

So, what happened that was different??

The first tech did not perform the bleed procedure as specified in the manual.  The second tech did.  This is the story I am being told.......

There is a very specific procedure called out and if you take any shortcuts you will not have a decent brake pedal.

Even though I got the run around and lied to about many things, I am happy to say my brakes are finally fixed!

Looks like @akirby was right all along.

I'm lucky to have a few Ford dealerships to chose from and use one that is +30 min drive from the one closest to me, because of poor service from the one closest to me when I took a company vehicle to them.

All of the cases I can remember were the booster and/or the master cylinder (barring an actual fluid leak somewhere).  There is an extended warranty on the booster.

Just because they said they replaced something doesn't mean they did it correctly.

Oh wow that is weird. Someone grabbed from the wrong bin i guess. It definitely make yours unique but it looks off with the rest of the blacked out trim.

Its does - I'd get it changed if it was mine - might not be that easy, as the claim would be that's the latest trim.

Great looking ride and really like that blue - it's almost like my wife's Mustang deep impact blue.

the new principles and approaches in development of society are necessary as in this situation the consumer society has exhausted the potential and nothing new can offer, it is way to technogenic degradation, there is no moral vector of development in coil.

Is that the root cause of the PTU failures?

In direct injected engines, the fuel never touches the intake valves, so no cleaning can occur.

As far as cost, Costco gas is Top Tier, and it is the cheapest gas available anywhere.  I use it exclusively.  So need to pay more for Top Tier.

I also use Costco exclusively, and when I travel I seek out Top Tier stations mostly Shell.

The detergents clean the fuel system, and it results in less combustion chamber fouling.

So I then yesterday swapped the front and rear passenger side wheels to see if the noise from the front followed to the rear, but it was still there in the front.

My last company Ford Fusion had a set of tires installed at Big-O which were close to the lowest priced they had, and they were damn noisy, couldn't distinguish whether the noise was from the front rear or left.

Big-O did the alignment and check balance, and the noise persisted on the highway.

When they had about half life I got the Ford dealership to install a set of tires and the noise was completely gone

  8. The PCV system issues are not limited to GDI and Ecoboost, its just exacerbated with those technologies.

On a natural aspirated port injection, the PCV causes combustion chamber carbon build-up which is to some degree self regulating, but some of that carbon is driven into the piston rings and ring lan's - defeats the objective of using only Top Tier Gas.

I use the oil trap on our 2015 3.7L V6 Mustang, 2017 Edge Sport, and 2008 Harley Nightrain [Harley vented to atmosphere].

I can't say about that of the steering on my Sport. It feels solid at high speeds. I'd suggest you check the alignment & tires just to make sure everything is good. Also try the steering modes, sport/normal to see if one is better for you.

I haven't bothered with any of the modes, but can confirm my experience with my 2017 Sport is much the same as yours, rock solid at all speeds [only been up to 100 mph for short distance a few times].

Steering feel couldn't be better for me.

Update 12/19/2018:  My wife finally received her repaired Edge ST yesterday late evening. This was a 42 day repair.

Final diagnosis:  1) Verified coolant leak from the coolant block on the PTU. 2) Verified rear main seal oil leak. Both were identified as "Assembly" defects and were fully covered under warranty.

The parts list is long, the labor hours to complete was very large as well. There was a leaking half shaft seal that was the third defect, but probably got lost as a separate diagnosis as they had to pull both CV half shafts anyway as the transmission had to be removed to access the rear main oil seal. Basically, the entire powertrain was negatively impacted, and much of it had to be removed to effect repairs (basically only the engine and rear differential were not removed). Total parts that were removed include the battery, wiper cowl assembly, steering shaft, manifold/catalytic converter, both CV half shafts, PTU, transmission, connecting exhaust, subframe, and some suspension components. That was what was identified on the repair order.

We have not decided yet on any next steps, but the Edge ST seemed to drive well last night when bringing it home. We of course will monitor the vehicle for any subsequent leaks, driving issues, etc. Never been through something like this before, and I hope that I never experience this again.

How's the ST going, and have you decided the "next steps"?

I'm wondering why the passenger side releases more vapors than the driver side.  Any comments on it?

As far as I know its to do with the fact that the passenger side vent pipe ties into the intake downstream of the throttle body, so it sees vacuum at closed or very low throttle position, drawing the crankcase vapours in.

  12. Looks like its only available for Sync2

I'm keen to get map updates for my nearly two year old 2017 Sport - my home and a few of the new roads in my city aren't on the existing maps.

How do you like them? I've never owned a set so I was curious as to how they'll hold up.

They were original install on my wife's 2015 Mustang, and we installed another set at 51K miles because they served us well and were well priced with a $50 rebate.

Could have got another 2 to 3K miles out of them but wanted good tread depth for the winter.
