  1. Question:

To assess whether the JLT catch can will work on your vehicle, pull the short hose off and inspect it internally, visually and with a Q-Tip, and if it is bone dry would that be a sign that your driving style does not require a catch can in this location?

  2. Here's some pictures of the inside of the Edge seat. I found a better way to gain more access to this, simply roll up the upholstery like you would your pant legs. But be careful of the airbag on the outer side of the seat. Still may be easier for some to take the seat out of the car.

Thanks for all your info - I'm just finding it hard to spend $100+ to correct a problem on my vehicle that's still under warranty.

  3. I was under the assumption that it was most likely to happen after the warrantee period like most mechanical failures. Also if Im not mistaken it primarially affects AWD models?

You know what they say about assumptions,.......

Where are you getting you information from to guide/steer your assumptions?

I'm keen to hear what the difference is on the AWD vehicles.

  4. ok thanks for all this info. is the in the front or the back of the car and when your are changing the fuilx do you fill it up all the way the first time as u drive it 10 miles or so before draining it again?

Each time you should completely fill it to the normal level (the fill plug hole), and the number of short succession refills at about 100 miles would depend on the state of the oil that you drain.

  5. Hello everyone. Newby here. I appreciate all of the info and am trying to tackle the spark plug change myself after my dealer told me it was a 4 hr job and would run me $528. (Local mechanic, whom I like and trust, told me it was 3 hr job and would be "at least" $400.)

The issue I'm currently having as I try and get up to speed on the job is that none of the pics from this site will download. (I'm most interested in the PDFs in the OG post in this thread). I'm getting either an error message from the forum saying "something went wrong" and the "images aren't available" and/or a "blocked" message from my security software saying that the download contained a virus. If anyone could advise me on this, I would appreciate it.

Maybe an issue with the recent update/upgrade.

  6. Can you please post pics of the trimmed rear splash guards? I've always wondered if I should try to trim the rear set to fit the Sport body, or if it was possible at least. Hell, even the front ones I put on don't fit very well in my opinion.

Old thread revival in the hopes that he'll see the request for details on making the rear mudflaps fit, or maybe someone else has a solution for the rear.

  7. Went to order Weathertech Mudflaps for the 18 Sport I just bought today. Noticed they asked if I had a Sport or not and I do. They noted their mudflaps only fit "non" sports. Is there a body difference with the Sport? I thought both where about the same.

That's correct, there's no Sport mudflaps.

I have the Ford ones on the front, and they fit OK, but if you look closely you can see that they're not designed for the trim profile.

  8. Owner.ford.com for software updates. You should be able to purchase navigation map updates now but yours should be up to date (or as up to date as Ford allows).

There's extensive roadworks that was completed around the time I bought my Sport in March 2017, and would not be surprised if these roads aren't on the latest maps, but when I went to check for updates I got the bellow message - is that normal that you need to get these from your local dealership?

Thank you for your interest in a navigation update for your SYNC 3 system.

Please contact your dealer to purchase an update today

This product is not available on our webstore. To locate a dealer, click here.

  9. Hello,

I just recently purchased a 2018 Edge SEL. I am wanting to replace my stock 18" wheels with some 20" Edge Sport knockoffs.

Any suggestions as to where to get a good deal? I am seeing remanufactured wheels out there. Any thoughts/experiences on remanufactured wheels?

I am looking to find the wheels below.

BTW: My Edge is in too good to be blue.

    1004ron,

Maybe clear to you and that's fine but when I read, "20" Edge Sport knockoffs" it's not the way I see it. I've never heard OEM referred to as knockoffs. Take offs yes, knockoffs, no. Knockoff from the dictionary, "copy or imitation."

I'm sorry, you're right, I must have speed read the OP - I have the same understanding of "knockoffs" as you.

I'd like much brighter front turn signal lamps and would really appreciate some advice on using these LED's

The front turn signals go from dim to blinking - will these work the same, just brighter?

If not, what modifications are needed to use these turn signal LED's ?

  11. A non-contact thermometer is not suitable for this.

Get one of these cheap digital thermometers at Walgreens and fix it with tape, or whatever method you decide, at the outlet of one of the vents and record the temperature at low fan speed and high speed.

A meat thermometer would also work.

It sounds like an AC gas issue.

  12. I can't find OEM wheels on Summit Racing - could you post a direct link?

Hmmm? I'm confused now if you want knockoffs or OEM wheels. For a 2018 I'm guessing OEM wheels will only be available from Ford, a selvedge yard or a selvedge parts broker. All you will probably find at Summit are wheels that look the same and for that do a search by vehicle.

I believe the OP was quite clear that he wanted OEM, not knock-off or third party aftermarket, and the two eBay links in this thread and the OP's Craigslist find are OEM, typically new "Take-Off's".

The OP was looking for OEM, and that's not what you'll find at Summit Racing.

  13. I'd spring to take it to another dealer and tell them everything. Wally World doesn't put fluid in tranby unless you paid for the fluid and requested such. (They don't just have cans of the stuff laying around just to top off someone's tranny). Dealer is trying to avoid the job. May not have tranny certified tech on staff.

Bet that's it, because I've heard that Kia Corp's rate they get for warranty work is very low compared to what they get from client paid services.

How does the OP know that Kia Corp was actually called - might have been a bluff - I'd first try another dealer, and if that wasn't satisfactory I'd call Kia Corp.

I wouldn't mention who's been doing the lube services.

  14. Those specs would be quite adequate for basic use, such as web browsing, MS Office etc., but if you intended using image software such as Photoshop, or video editing software, then I'd go for something with a larger SSD drive and more RAM.

If you're a Costco member, take a look at theirs - usually best prices and unbeatable warranty.

  15. I'm confident that the thread starter tab was active here, because if it wasn't I'd have requested it, like I did on the Harley forum (see link to a thread for example), and it is a fairly simple add-on for "VBForums" which most forums like this run on.

    https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softail-models/924141-breakout-front-wheel-21-x-3-5-on-2008-night-train.html

You'll see my black Nigh Train Harley that matches my black Sport.

Also, the "Online" status is no longer functional.

  16. Thread starter seems to be accurate to me - can you show me an example?

In this thread it there's no tab showing me as the "Thread Starter" using Mac with Firefox and Safari.

See this example where Goldy is the thread starter, but no "Thread Starter" tab in his posts later in the thread.
