  1. Turbo tunes add boost first and advance timing second. Almost all of the power gain is adding boost. Normally aspirated tunes can only advance timing, which is why the gains are so small. Shift points etc change the way the car feels but don't add any power.
  2. When the thermostat is closed, which it should be when the engine is cold, there is no coolant flow through the radiator. So how would the shutters have anything to do with the warm-up duration? The shutters are a secondary means of controlling coolant temperature, once the engine is warmed up. I did not say they have no effect, of course they do. They have no effect during warm-up. If you think they have an effect on warm-up, you do not understand the cooling system and the function of the thermostat.
  3. The shutters have nothing to do with how long it takes the car to warm up. The shutters are for fuel economy only. The symptoms the OP is describing is a faulty thermostat that is not closing and seating correctly, allowing some coolant flow during warm up, which is prolonging the warm up. It might be something else, but replacing the thermostat is easy and cheap, so it's the logical place to start.
  4. Unfortunately, the 2015 F-150 tuner is a SCT, which does not support the Edge. So no money saved with 5 Star, I have to get a new box no matter which I go with.
  5. I would guess it's MUCH cheaper to just trade your FWD for an AWD. Not to mention simple and not going to have all kinds of headaches.
  6. You've got quite the Edge. I'll only do a tune, my F-150 has a 93 Performance 5 Star tune and it's a beast. People that ride in it are shocked. I'm debating between Livernois and 5 Star for the Edge. People seem quite happy with Livernois and it's over $100 cheaper.
  7. Just picked up a 2020 Edge ST to replace the 2018 Edge Titanium coming off lease. I have the same 2.7 in a F-150 and love it. It completely remakes the Edge. Besides the much improved performance the NVH from the 2.0 is gone. It's so much more BMW like. Transmission shifts fine (11/2020 build). I had the 301A package on both the 2018 and 2019 Edges and we discussed that we never used any of the features except for the heated rear seats. So we skipped the 401A. We did get the Co-Pilot 360 Assist+ however, I do like the adaptive cruise. The adaptive headlights would have been nice. The sunroof and park assist are a waste of money, never touched either. In fact, I see the giant sunroof as a negative, a potential creaky, leaky nuisance. Spec'd the 20" wheels, not a fan of all black on anything but a black car, and I figure the lighter wheel and tire combo will ride better, accelerate and brake better and have no noticeable difference in grip. I forget how much better the B&O stereo is, haven't driven the 2019 in a while. Got 25 MPG on the drive home from the dealer. Wife wishes there was still a CD player. Otherwise it's the best iteration of the Edge. Did not consider waiting for a 2021, she absolutely hates the giant screen on the 2021. Got $8000 off the 2020, fresh off the truck and 0% for 60 months, doubt there will be that kind of incentives on the 2021 for quite while anyway.
  8. I hope you know if you've gone 3 years since a blinker fluid change, Ford will void your warranty. It's right in the manual.
  9. It's very common for multi-market vehicles that are sold with diesel engines to have a bigger fuel door to allow space for the DEF filler next to the fuel cap.
  10. OK, point taken. However, this is a Ford Edge forum, not the Bespoke Motorcarriage Authorized Cleaning Products forum.
  11. I must have missed which Ford offers semi-aniline leather. Which is an awful material for a car seat.
  12. We're talking about Ford here, not optional high end Range Rover seats.
  13. The leather on car seats is sealed with a coating, so you aren't ever cleaning or touching the leather. No need for products that 'nourish' the leather ?. I use Pledge for the entire interior of the car, excpet the glass. For dirt, like dirty dog paws, a wet towel works fine.
  14. Yes, the stalling and not restarting have nothing to do with oil pressure or oil level.
  15. I've been using cartridge style filters on German cars for 25+ years and the ends have always looked like the revised filter. Also, I'm pretty sure all of the Motorcraft filters I've used in the 2.7 look like that too, I can't remember them having the black end caps and the 1st oil change would have been in late 2016. Once again, much ado about nothing.
  16. MRT, Borla, Magnaflow. All Ecoboost aftermarket exhaust systems sound like ass.
  17. The Owner's Manual states semi-synthetic OR full synthetic. There is never any reason choose semi-synthetic over full synthetic. However, the Motorcraft (ConocoPhillips) semi-synthetic is a good oil that will provide satisfactory service. Always so much teeth gnashing over oil.
  18. Right out of that odd little book found in the glove box. I think it's called an Owner's Manual? Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor™ Your vehicle has an Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor that determines when you should change the engine oil based on how you use your vehicle. By using several important factors in its calculations, the monitor helps reduce the cost of owning your vehicle and reduces environmental waste at the same time. This means you do not have to remember to change the oil on a mileage-based schedule. Your vehicle lets you know when an oil change is due by displaying a message in the information display. The following table provides examples of vehicle use and its impact on oil change intervals. It is a guideline only. Actual oil change intervals depend on several factors and generally decrease with severity of use. When to expect the OIL CHANGE REQUIRED Message Interval Vehicle Use and Example 7500–10000 mi (12,000–16,000 km) Normal Normal commuting with highway driving No, or moderate, load or towing Flat to moderately hilly roads No extended idling 5000–7500 mi (8,000–12,000 km) Severe Moderate to heavy load or towing Mountainous or off-road conditions Extended idling Extended hot or cold operation 3000–5000 mi (5,000–8,000 km) Extreme Maximum load or towing Extreme hot or cold operation
  19. It's not a splash shield. It is for aerodynamics and it also reduces NVH. So no harm in removing it, cars survived without them decades. Only you can decide if it matters to you. Almost every car has them, and they take seconds to remove with a drill and socket adapter.
  20. Is there any evidence that depleted coolant corrosion inhibitors are the cause of the internal water pump failures?
  21. I just asked for the document that says to flush out the Orange coolant immediately. Still waiting.
  22. Like I said, no 5 year limit. No recommendation from Ford to prematurely change Orange to Yellow.
