  1. Enjoy! I wish Ford would decouple the sunroof from all option packages. It was forced on us as part of an option package we wanted. While I'm tall, headroom is still fine. But we NEVER open it, just like we have NEVER opened it on any of the cars we have owned where there was no choice.
  2. Favorite aircraft? Mine:
  3. First I've heard that ethanol cause ring deposits. If anything it would clean them.
  4. I would not worry about driving the car at all.
  5. The FSA shows that you are entitled to a loaner and reimbursement of some expenses in order to have the recall performed. If your vehicle was still subject to the recall, there would be a separate notation showing a recall due. If you are still in doubt, you can contact the service department at the dealer. Certified vehicles should have any outstanding recalls done prior to being offered for sale, however I guess it is possible for one to slip through the cracks. I would think even a non-certified used Ford, being sold at a Ford dealer, would have any outstanding recalls performed.
  6. Why would you change the PTU fluid and put the Ford fluid back in. The consensus is that heat is the enemy, so if you are servicing the PTU put 100% Ester oil in it. As for the RDU, it is exposed to zero heat. It will have none of the issues seen in PTU's.
  7. In direct injected engines, the fuel never touches the intake valves, so no cleaning can occur. As far as cost, Costco gas is Top Tier, and it is the cheapest gas available anywhere. I use it exclusively. So need to pay more for Top Tier.
  8. Top Tier gasoline, which has been a thing for over decade now, can do nothing for intake deposits in direct injected engines.

    Car & Driver

Focus RS sales are lackluster because Ford built a car that was an 'enthusiast' wish list. Fact is, very few people want a track car to drive on the street. I doubt Ford makes that mistake again. I waited until the Focus RS came out, looked at it and bought a Golf R instead. The Golf R is a pleasure to drive every day, yet is still very entertaining. I doubt there is really any market for a track oriented Edge. The Edge ST with the brake package and a tune is all you really need. I have the 2.7 in an F-150 with a 93 performance tune and it is really quick. In the Edge it would be a rocket.

No, I said: No explanation needed.

    Oil Schedule

If I have to explain why using a full synthetic is much better than using a synthetic blend, then by all means keep changing your oil every 5000 or 3000 miles or whatever.

    Oil Schedule

Actually Ford recommends 10,000 miles or one year. Dealers recommend more often to lighten your wallet. Motorcraft filter - good. Motorcraft Synthetic Blend - not good. Use a full synthetic like Mobil 1.
  13. It's not a silly thing to say, it's true. What you linked does not give an end date to the recall, it gives the NHTSA estimate of when most vehicles affected by the recall will have been fixed.
  14. Recalls never end. The settlement is for additional compensation such as loaners for those affected by the recall. It's pretty plain English.
  15. The settlement does NOT 'end' the recall.
  16. The stock intake is a cold air intake.
  17. I've never replaced a crush washer or gasket on any car I've owned, I do all service myself. Never had an issue.
  18. 2019 Edge is now on Ford website.
  19. 17" are listed on Tire Rack as fitting the Escape.
  20. Why hung up on OEM anything? Go to Tire Rack or Discount Tire and order a set of wheels and winter tires mounted and balanced, delivered to your door. Also, 17" is not a 'downgrade' for winter, it's actually preferred.
  21. Quietly mentioned at the end is the huge change in the AWD system. The differential is in the front now, so the PTU is gone?
  22. You don't need a lawyer to file a claim under your states lemon law. Just look it up, become familiar with it so you know when the clock has expired. Usually so many days and or so many visits to the dealer. You will have to write letters and make phone calls, but why waste $1000 on a lawyer?
