  1. Our goes through the car wash 2-3 times a week (love the $20/month unlimited plan). This is the silliest thing I've heard.
  2. I've never heard of aligning calipers. Why would you leave the cap off the brake fluid reservoir? Exposing brake fluid to humidity is a definite no-no. Honestly, I've replaced pads and rotors many time, flushed fluid even more times and have never had any issues. Both are simple tasks. It sounds like you have no idea what you are doing. Take it to a professional.
  3. If reliability was your primary concern, why the 3.5L with it's known water pump failure issue?
  4. Coding a vehicle isn't hacking or rewriting software. Accessing a menu of vehicle parameters to make minor changes isn't either.
  5. You don't notice the smell, but anyone behind you does.
  6. Why would you want a catless downpipe? A downpipe with a high flow cat will provide 99% of the gains and none of the smelly exhaust of a catless one.
  7. If the issue are heat related, any 100% ester based replacement oil will eliminate that issue.
  8. What switch by the headlight switch? The switch to control the interior lights on/door/off is in the overhead, as it is in almost every car every made.
  9. It's always amusing to read car forums where the majority seek to match their fog light color to their HID's, make them brighter, and make them project further. I think the auto makers have caught on, which may be why they are disappearing.
  10. I am not saying fog lights are not useful. I'm saying for whatever reason, European drivers are educated about their use and NA drivers have no clue. Also, they are wired incorrectly on almost all domestic vehicles, which require the headlights to be on to use the fog lights. You should be able to use the fog lights with just the parking lights. When you are driving in thick fog, even the low beam headlights reflect way too much. Fog lights are meant to get you home slowly in thick fog when you can barely see the road. Instead, when they started appearing on higher end European vehicles in NA in the 70's they became a status symbol. Hey, look at me, I have an expensive car with fog lights!
  11. It would great if all NA cars removed fog lamps, since no one has a clue what they are for or when to use them. Mostly people leave them on all the time. Worse yet they replace the bulbs with 6-8000K bulbs because, 'blue is cool'. The worst is the few European cars that still have rear fogs. Nothing worse than being stuck behind someone that has them on all the time and probably has no idea the car even has them.
  12. There are no tunes from any of the well known tuners I would use. There are 2 piggyback tuners made and sold in Europe, both have mixed reviews, I'm not willing to be the guinea pig. Racechip VR-Tuning The primitive US based piggyback. JMS BoostMAX There is 1 mild ECU tune, it is wildly overpriced and when I inquired about it they really couldn't answer any questions. Vivid Racing So nothing. I have a 2015 Lincoln MKC 2.3 and it too has no tunes.
  13. I have a 2018 Edge delivered a month ago and it's 2.3. When asked to update it says I have the most current version, so I don't know about this V3.
  14. I don't know what to say about the PTU. Some people are obviously having a serious issue. But there are millions of Ford vehicles with this design on the road and most make it long term with no PTU issues. I'm inclined to change it once at 30,000 miles and install a 100% ester based oil. I don't know of any similar situation with the transmission which might indicate the need for an early service.
  15. Ford says 150,000 miles in the Owner's Manual (with no time interval), but what do they know? I'm sure their goal in stating such an obviously too long maintenance interval is the premature failure of your vehicle in order to sell you another one and concurrently ruin their durability reputation with consumers. 60,000 miles is over maintaining and 30,000 miles is ridiculous.
  16. Which F-150 has a rotary shift knob? Mine doesn't.
  17. Again, please explain how a brief home test of half worn snow tires vs new all season tires would be of use to anyone.
  18. Are you saying that Tire Rack and Consumer Reports tests are driven by corporate BS and sales strategies? I didn't say it was dishonest, nor did I make any remarks about his character. I said the comparison was useless. I took it for what it is.
  19. So you think this was a useful comparison? I think I'll stick to Tire Rack tests and Consumer Reports. The intersection of where they both rate tires highly is the sweet spot for finding great tires. Not some half-assed home video.
  20. A completely useless comparison. "Maybe it has something to do with my Blizzaks being 50% worn". A 50% worn Blizzak is just an all-season tire. Yet it still beat the new Michelin Premier LTX's by 'only a second', which is actually huge for this test. Most of his videos are equally bad.
  21. I just use a tiny screwdriver on my German cars and my F-150.
  22. I have had good experiences with Powerstop products, but none of you are 'warping' your rotors. You need to read up on brake pad deposition. The #1 cause is heavy braking followed by a complete stop with the brakes applied. It welds a bit of pad material onto the rotor and now the rotor surface is uneven and vibrates. Once you are aware of the causes you can adjust your driving style to avoid it.
