  1. The hazard switch with the capacitive button has a press and hold requirement, you have to hold it for a certain amount of time or it won't activate. This was done to prevent the inadvertent activation that was happening a lot. Make sure you're holding the button for at least 2 seconds.
  2. The dimensions and harnesses must be the same, because Ford's plan is to roll the Sync 3 in "on the fly". In fact most models will be built with Sync 3 for North America and Sync 2 for export at the same time, since the language settings for the export markets won't be ready at first. The one thing that is different is that Sync 3 uses a more conventional GPS antenna, not the GPSM module that Gen 2 uses.
  3. You have a six year warranty extension on the APIM, which means any software update during that time has to be done for free by the dealer.
  4. QNX is not the same thing as Blackberry, they just happen to be owned by Blackberry. Ford owns the Sync brand name.
  5. I recently had a warranty claim put in for damaged leather on the seats on my MKT. For some odd reason Ford approved replacement of the bottom cushion, but not the seat back. They sent a very detailed note (addressed to me) that my dealer showed me through their computer system as to why the warranty was denied. Is your dealer not willing to show you that note? And besides, as freebird notes, if it really was a rock that caused the damage, your insurance should cover it, minus your comprehensive deductible. If your insurance company refuses, then let them argue it out with Ford.
  6. Sorry, it's the Flex that is not available in AWD on the SE. Did you actually buy it from a Ford dealership? I can't believe a Ford dealership wouldn't include some kind of warranty that would cover things for at least 3 weeks and 400 miles!
  7. It says right in the shop manual that the AWD will stop working when the spare tire is used....

    Goodbye to Edge

Hyundai/Kia are making some nice products these days, but too bad you couldn't hold out for the 2015 (or 2016 with the next Sync) Edge, it will address almost all of your complaints.
  9. Whether you can do the update or not depends on what you're starting with. Your 2009 would have already had the "dealer-only" version, so that's why you didn't need to go to a dealer. Other's with older models will not have the same options.
  10. By "not grown up", do you mean they still base their decisions on actual hard facts and not just media hype? Ford has taken action on throttle bodies for the 2.3 and 3.0 engines in the Fusion and Escape. That means they have done the analysis and determined that there is a problem on those ones that warrants action. Do you really think they didn't think to do the same analysis on the 3,5? Do you think there's any car company (or any company at all) out there that doesn't follow the "we can pay out any lawsuits for less than the cost of a recall" philosophy? If you know of one, please let me know, so I can be sure to avoid buying their stock!
  11. Ford's AWD systems are designed to recognize when you put a smaller spare tire on and they will disable the AWD system. As long as the tire is between I think 3% and 5% difference, the system will recognize it and no damage will be done.
  12. There are no transmission seals that are regular maintenance. My guess is either the bad seal is a sign of a bad repair job in the past, or whoever did the seal repair messed something else up. Since you have an SE, it can only be FWD, so it can't be anything other than the transmission, based on your description. With only 400 miles on your recently purchased vehicle, I'd expect them to step up and give you a loaner until they can take a look at it.
  13. If Ford made public their timing now, it would cause several problems. #1, People will be hesitant to buy the 2015 if they know when the 2016 is coming out, this causes Ford to need bigger incentives to get rid of the 2015s. #2, Stuff happens. Some times Ford starts shipping cars within 3-4 weeks of the J1 date per schedule, sometimes it takes 3 months because they find unexpected problems. If Ford announced a date, then didn't meet it, then all of a sudden everyone knows they are having problems. This scares customers away and taints the brand. #3, Giving specific dates of availability lets competitors plan out there own marketing and inventory. The more time competitors have to plan, the more effective they can be. So just because you don't know what Ford's doing, doesn't mean Ford doesn't know what they are doing. BTW, you should see the 2016 MKX in your dealer sometime in early summer, barring any major disasters. But you didn't hear that from me...
  14. Check the RDS, but on version 3.5 the radio artist and titles were not displayed on the home screen. On version 3.6 they are, so you probably are not actually on the latest software.
  15. What you're asking is completely reasonable, many other auto OEMs use beeps in exactly the same way. I don't know for a fact, but I'd bet that there is a simple toggle in the software that would turn on the beeps, but you'd have to know someone who knows someone who knows the software configurations and passwords, that's not something the dealer would know. But since the turn signal and the BLIS operate on the network and communicate through various modules, the chance of you getting something to work without writing software is slim.
  16. Oakville has been building the Edge/MKX on the same line as the Flex and MKT for 5+ years. They even built the Edge and Windstar on the same line for a short time. Shouldn't be a problem to keep the old MKX and new Edge going together. Besides, the 2015 Edge has already started, just not full speed yet.
  17. I do understand your dilemma, but I think you're missing the point. Ford doesn't want people cross-shopping the Edge and MKX. Rebuilding the Lincoln brand means separating it from the Ford brand, both in the physical differences between the vehicle as well as the mental imagery of the customers. So this is exactly the right way to rebuild the brand - separate the Ford and Lincoln so that people are not thinking about them in the same thought. Think about it, if Ford knew that a group of say 1000 people were going to buy a mid-size SUV and they just had to decided between the Ford and Lincoln, they would sell 1000 vehicles, but they would have to spend the money to design and build 2 different models This is essentially the situation they had with Mercury, they were just pulling from the same pool of customers but spending more on design and marketing. What Ford wants is to take that 1000 people and put them all in the Edge, then go out and find another 100 people who will buy the Lincoln. Obviously they aren't there yet, but Ford's goal is to get to a point where you and your wife don't need to wait until the 2016 MKX comes out, you either know you want it or you don't. If everyone who was checking out the MKX was also looking at the Edge, Ford would have been better off just adding a few extra features to the Edge and killing Lincoln completely. As akirby pointsout, the F150 is 100% on schedule. Job 1 was just last week, as per schedule, and Ford always builds and holds for 3-4 weeks before shipping anything. Ford is currently running dozens if not hundreds of new F150s out on roads all over the country looking for any bugs or problems. If they find anything, it's much easier to fix the trucks they've built while they are still in a parking lot around the factory than spread out at dealers all over the world. This is standard operating procedure for Ford and will be the same when the Edge starts production in a month or two.
  18. There are no "SYNC features" that you can download for your system anywhere in the world, so you're not missing anything. You'll have to wait for the next major update, just like the rest of us! Annual map updates involve replacing the SD card, here in the US you have to pay and I suspect it will be the same in Chile, unless you have some special arrangement with your dealer.
  19. Ford's taking their time to get the 2016 MKX right, there are only so many engineers and resources, as a stockholder you wouldn't want them spread thinly resulting in a compromised product, would you? Ford can't legally build a 2014 MKX after the end of the calendar year 2014, so they have to put out a 2015 until the 2016 is ready. Not sure what you're point is on the F150, it's tough to buy one because they are not for sale yet, if that's what you mean.
  20. Displayed on the touch screen or on the cluster? On the home screen or on the radio screen? Music from the USB, radio, CD, Bluetooth?
  21. Actually the current Edge and the current Explorer use the same cluster, from the same supplier, while the other D-cars use a very similar looking cluster, but from a different supplier. It really has to do with the electrical architecture, not the platform.
  22. That's just a temporary fix, eventually it will come back unless you get the software update. I had the update done on my Fusion (same GPSM and software) and no more issues.
  23. TSB 14-0037, they need to reprogram the GPSM.
  24. I believe it will hold up to 5 codes, and I think one of those is the factory code.
