How to use Nav. while driving?
Waldo replied to maddwakester's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
If you install a lockpick, Ford is no longer liable, so the lawyers are happy and Ford doesn't care. -
Your going to have to change the configuration in the PCM.

How to use Nav. while driving?
Waldo replied to maddwakester's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Ford just follows the industry standard guidelines like every other manufacturer, they didn't choose anything. Try any other factory nav system and you will find exactly the same thing. -
Actually the climate software is one of the few items that is not part of the Microsoft MFT software bundles. The climate logic is separate software embedded in the EFP (Electronic FInish Panel, the part that has the capacitive buttons) but obviously it does communicate with the MFT software. So can't blame this one on Microsoft nor will doing a QNX update fix it in your vehicle. You should ask the dealer to update the climate software for you.

Agree, that's exactly how it's supposed to work. If the light is not on above the A/C button, it might still be on. But if you push the A/C button the light should come on. If you push it again, it should go off, and then the compressor should never come on.

Not necessarily, if there's enough sunload at 16C outside it could still be putting out cool air to maintain 24C inside. It was 16C outside on my drive in this morning and the A/C was running and putting out cool air when I was set at 22C.

The "Auto" function controls the fan speed, the temperature, the mode selection, the recirc function and the A/C compressor. If you press the "auto" button, it will control all of those things. You can override any one or all of those functions (like changing the fan speed or turning off the A/C) by pressing the buttons. Everything else will continue to function in auto mode. So to turn off the A/C compressor, just push the A/C button. Everything else will still be in auto mode, but the compressor should not come on. If this is not how yours is working, then you have a problem that the dealer needs to address.

Just do a master reset yourself, then try putting in the card again.

Add nav to a 2011 with myford touch?
Waldo replied to tknice's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
There are also a lot of FMVSS rules that apply to cars that don't apply to desktop computers/tablets/portable devices. If Ford lets you control what's on the screen, how do they ensure that you are only doing things that are legally allowed to be done on the screen? And to mw75098, the only way to add factory nav is to have someone with access to the unlocking tool. But those are only Ford engineers and their suppliers and they are instructed not to give it to anybody that's not a Ford engineer. -
If the previous owner had removed one of the wheels and kept it, would you expect the dealer to replace it? Of course you would, you can't drive around on three wheels! Sounds like the vehicle originally came with Nav, therefore the SD card is part of the original vehicle. If it's not there, then it should either be replaced before the sale or the price of the vehicle should be suitably discounted.

Creaking front suspension when turning wheel at stop
Waldo replied to nissenc1337's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
I'd still put my money on suspension bushings, either lower control arm or the stabilizer bar bushings. Variation in those parts coming out of the factory is pretty large, after 95000 miles comparing them to any other Edge is pointless. When I stand on the brakes and turn the steering on just about any car to lock, even a brand new one, I almost always hear creaking noises. -
Creaking front suspension when turning wheel at stop
Waldo replied to nissenc1337's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
You should never turn the steering to lock when you're not moving on any car. It's very hard on all the steering and suspension components. The way the geometry of the steering is set up means that you're not just pivoting the wheel around an axis, you're also laterally and vertically loading the suspension components and bushings. The creaking you hear is probably the suspension bushings getting loaded up. Because you're not moving, this load can't be relaxed as it would when you're moving. So just stop steering while stopped and don't worry about the noise! Drive a car without power steering like my old Miata and you'll quickly rid yourself of this bad habit! -
Looking For A New SUV, LOVE The Edge, HATE MFT
Waldo replied to NY Yankee Pride's topic in Welcome Forum!
He's talking about Ford's hard-drive based system that was only used in the 09 an 10 Edge, but is still in the 2014 Mustang and a couple other non-MFT vehicles. Incidentally that system was the JDP top-ranked system at the time. -
Looking For A New SUV, LOVE The Edge, HATE MFT
Waldo replied to NY Yankee Pride's topic in Welcome Forum!
Sitting in the car playing with MFT is not the same way you will use it when driving. As akirby said, using the touchscreen for presets is not the best way to do it. That's just an example, but there are typically 3 or 4 different ways to do anything (you can change the presets with the touchscreen, the steering wheel controls, the cluster menu, the capacitive buttons under the screen or using voice commands), so you just need to find which of those ways works best for you. MFT is way less frustrating than the Murano's CVT. -
You do have to understand that in the Edge and most modern cars, the lights are all run off the computer network. The light you see on the cluster comes from a message sent from the BCM. So when diagnosing the problem, you really have to know if the BCM is getting the signal from the switch, and if so, is it sending it out properly. But the fact that you don't have any detent or click when you pull the switch makes me think that it is likely the switch that's the problem as you suggested. For $30 it might be worth a try.
-
That is what you're supposed to do, pull them back and there should be a detent, then they will stay on. Try it when you are at a stop, you should be able to hear a slight thud from the front of the vehicle when those shutters move open and closed. Not to sound too stupid, but you do also have to have the low beam headlights on.
-
Weird, that sounds exactly like what would happen if you had the auto-high beams that come on Lincolns, the Fusion and I think a couple other Fords. On those the high-beams won't stay on while the system is in "auto", but they will in regular "on". But on the Edge, there should be no relation to the high beams and the headlamp or foglamp settings.

Differences between 2011 and 2013 Edge Sport?
Waldo replied to ksandals's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
This is exactly backwards. If you're worried about resale value in the future, buying the oldest car will always be the better choice. The newer the car, the steeper the depreciation curve. For example you might spend $2000 more on the 2013, but 5 years from now that 2013 will only be worth $1000 more than the 2011. So the net result is you will have paid $1000 more for the 2013 vs 2011. Only you can decide if the other benefits of the 2013 (warranty, repairs and such) are worth that $1000. -
Ugh, your Edge was designed about 9 years ago, you don't think Ford's been working on it since then? Did you also notice that this thread is almost 3.5 years old? Besides, if your issues started after having a local shop replace fluid that Ford says not to replace, don't you think it's possible that it was the service that caused the problem, not a design issue from Ford? it would be pretty easy to overfill, underfill or use the wrong fluid.

Tell them you want your PCM replaced. The new PCM will contain the latest software and is clearly covered by the emissions warranty.

Sure, buy yourself a programming tool and re-program them yourself. http://www.amazon.com/Motorcraft-TPMS19-Remote-Pressure-Sensor/dp/B001FKSNUI

Seriously? The Edge and Mustang suspension have as much in common as the Edge and a Boeing 747.

Are you storing the other set of tires in the garage this year or last year?

It's based on a government regulated formula that is calculated based on a percentage of the factory recommended pressure. It generally works out that a 35psi recommendation will trigger at around 26 or 27psi.

Premium will give you a couple extra HP that you will likely not even notice and will not improve your fuel economy enough to justify it's extra cost.
