Yep, my wife called me up in a panic once for this same reason. Just like any vehicle, the oil pressure light will come on when the ignition is in "ON" and the engine is not running. DIfference in the Edge is that it pops up a big message in the cluster instead of just the small red light that you might be used to.

If it says INFORMATION in the top right corner of the touch screen, you do not have navigation and cannot get it. If it says "Insert SD Card", then you can get any Ford A3 or higher card.

Sounds like a good bet. Sounds like the problem with the lights isn't really a problem, they are just doing what they are supposed to since they think the wipers are still supposed to be on.

The most important question is which module got the software update? Both wipers and auto lights are controlled in the BCM, so I'd assume it's that one. If you turn the headlight switch to off, do the lights turn off. Do you only notice the "sticking" auto lamps when you're having the windshield wiper problem? Remember that if you have the auto lights turned on, they will stay on whenever the wipers are running. So if you're wipers won't shut off, the auto lights shouldn't shut off either.

The fuel pump cooling myth is just a myth. The pump gets cooled by fuel going through it, not around it. On direct injection engines like the Ecoboost engines, the high pressure fuel pump isn't even in the fuel tank, it's directly mounted to the engine. No fuel around it and they survive just fine. It's only when you run dry and the pump starts pumping air, that's when it can overheat. Absolutely driving around with less fuel will improve your mileage. In fact the North American Focus has a tank restriction that prevents you from filling up the tank to it's full capacity, just to reduce the weight so it could get a higher EPA fuel number. But in the end the difference will be pretty minimal and the extra aggravation of stopping all the time wouldn't be worth it to most people, that's why I just fill it up full every time.

Dishonest California Ford Dealer Warning

But if some random person comes on the internet to make a post while holding back information and only telling half the story, it should be considered nothing but pure fact? -
Dishonest California Ford Dealer Warning
Waldo replied to Craigtaz's topic in Dealership & Vendor Experiences
I don't understand why you're upset about the credit card issue, that seems like normal business to me. It's true that the financing does not treat the purchase separately from the ESP, so the dealer sounds perfectly legit in their statement about that. Now I would think a good dealer could still work with you to re-arrange everything, but I think they are well within their rights to consider that a deposit. I've used my credit card for deposits on all five of my most recent car purchases (never had an ESP with any of them). -
What do you mean by "offering". You will always be able to go the parts department and order any part from any car. If I wanted to update my 2014 Fusion with the new wheels that came out on the 2015, I can just go to the parts department and order them. Does that mean Ford is "offering" them to me? Bottom line is the cost of a Sync 3 "upgrade kit" would have to be close to $2000 so I don't think Ford would ever get enough takers to make it worthwhile. And again, you have to think of "Sync 3" as a marketing brand name. It's a collection of features. Not all of those features will work on the old hardware, but the brand name has nothing to do with the hardware or the operating system. What Ford has said is that they cannot make all of the "Sync 3" features available to current vehicles. That doesn't mean they can't release a "Sync 2.5" that uses the old hardware with the QNX operating system. But it's all about resources, Ford's got everyone working on the new system first, once that's done, then they can focus on an update for the old system.

Verify a location on A5 Chip?
Waldo replied to Scott2553's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I don't have an A5 card, but if you know the address, just put that in, save it as a favorite and your A4 card will still guide you right there.- 1 reply

How to go about getting an Oasis report?
Waldo replied to 2k11Wedgie's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
The only things listed in that vehicle's history are a left front wheel bearing replacement and a MFT update. -
I posted pretty much exactly this same information 5 months ago: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/16949-new-sync-3-info/?p=121884 You're getting your story mixed up. Ford has said that you can't update old hardware with "Sync 3". That's because Sync 3 is a package that includes a new touch screen that allows swiping and the processor is significantly different. But they never said you couldn't buy that hardware and put it in an older vehicle. They also never said they wouldn't do a separate update with the QNX system that is compatible with the older hardware - it just wouldn't be branded "Sync 3" since it wouldn't be capable of all the Sync 3 features like swiping.

That doesn't make any sense. Sway control is part of the stability control system, if shouldn't have anything to do with clunks when lifting off the gas.
-
Yep, check your owner's guide. You can set all that up in the cluster menus.

Anyone change/replace foot pedals?
Waldo replied to cmillz1331's topic in Accessories & Modifications
There are lots of different styles in the aftermarket, some involve simply removing the factory rubber covers and slipping on new ones, others have clamps that clamp around the factory pedals and others require drilling through the factory pedal. Looks like the ones that you link to are the drilling style. -
I saw three at my local dealer last week.

It confirms that you are in fact, inside a vehicle. It's just a left-over artifact of the European programming on which the cluster is based. On European models (of the Focus, Mondeo and so on, not the Edge) it does show the doors that are open, but for some reason in the US Ford uses the little icons at the bottom of the cluster instead.

My point is Ford decided they didn't want to force customers to resync every time they rotated the tires. Inside the computer it knows exactly what the pressure of each tire is. It has nothing to do with technology, it's just how Ford decided to irritate the fewest number of customers.
-
But what happened if you rotated the tires?
-
Were you planning on drilling a hole through the engine computer to install it?
-
But by Ford spending less on tires, they make more profits which stay here.

Inconsistent climate / vent temp
Waldo replied to Jmsbond007's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
You're constraining the system by imposing so many settings so it's not really able to work effectively. The system uses sunload and temperature sensors so it's likely seeing high sunload after work and trying to compensate. The setting of 70 is actually on the "cool" side, 72 is what is programmed as the "normal". So with your setting below normal and high sunload and the inability to change mode or fan speed, it's doing everything it can to try to cool down the cabin. I just set mine to Auto and leave it. -
Actually no, those drives are all done through a 3rd party hourly workforce. They are very specific on the routes that must be driven though.
-
That's how all OEMs do every launch of every vehicle. Nothing unusual at all.

My sources say that they have started shipping as of last Friday. But it's a very slow trickle so far.

How Much Does A 2015 Edge Weigh?
Waldo replied to All Hat No Cattle's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
EPA tests are run by weight class and since the 2.7 Edge is the "high end" model it means the weight of all the extra options has to be counted. On the F150 the 2.7 is the base model, so it won't have all those options. Then the weight classes are set up in 250lb increments, so an Edge that weighs 4001 lbs is tested at the same weight as an F150 that weighs 4249 lbs.
