  1. Omar 302, thanks for posting the latest information about the ambient lighting. I just checked my 2013 and do have the problem of the lights defaulting to the blue color after several starts. I see the 13171 in the system information. I will try and get into the dealership this week (with a copy of your post of course) to see if they can fix the problem.
  2. Never any problem with my 2013 Edge running the latest update from last year listening to a text while driving. What doesn't work is when I try and send one of the canned messages as a reply, regardless of if I am driving or parked. The message doesn't go through to the recipient.
  3. The Edge has a center bore diameter of 70.6mm which is the same as recent model Mustangs (2011+) but larger than the 64.3 of the 08-10 Mustang so don't buy those 08 Mustang wheels. There is some confusion about wheel hub opening sizes because Ford changed the sizes. Edge models from 2007-2010 have an opening of about 70.5mm or 2 3/4 inches. Edge models from 2011-2014 have an opening size of about 63.4mm or 2 1/2 inches. Very important to know when replacing your factory wheels and you don't want to have a machine shop bore the replacement wheels larger or you have to buy hub centric rings to fit a larger opening onto your smaller hub size. I believe the OP has a 2014 Edge so he has the smaller opening not the larger 70.5mm.
  4. The latest version of the card is actually A5 as Rebecca from Ford IVTteam posted. There are sellers on eBay who have the cards for much less than a dealer sells them. One example in the posted link. Just check around, some sellers have similar prices but with free shipping. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-A5-LQQK-A4-Latest-Update-2014-2013-2012-Ford-Navigation-SD-CARD-OEM-/111432674840?pt=Car_Audio_Video&hash=item19f1e7ae18&vxp=mtr
  5. Make sure you insist on brand new FORD parts. You don't want brand new aftermarket parts. Big difference in quality, fit, finish, etc in many cases. Glad to hear you are working something out with the dealer. Good luck.
  6. I purchased my 2013 Edge Limited after owning a 2003 F150 that I purchased new. Traded that in for the Edge. I loved that truck but the Edge is also a great vehicle although naturally nothing like the F150. Several things that took a little while to get used to were the cap less fuel tank, SYNC, MFT, and the different ride and handling. Liking it very much, especially getting the same range of miles (400+) per tank full of approximately 18 gallons versus the 400+ with 26 gallon tank!
  7. Very few dealers other than higher end luxury brands trailer their dealer trade cars. Many dealerships employ retired people to drive the traded cars from one dealer to another. Some dealerships have the salesman do the driving of the trades. The distance between the dealers doing the trade may also factor in if the trade is driven or trailerd. If it's too many miles, many dealers won't even trade. Stuff happens and there's not much you can do about it. I would not want a car with known damage that is brand new unless it was for a killer price. Even then it would depend if I was planning on keeping the car until the wheels fell off, or if I get a new car every 3 or 4 years or so. Perhaps you can find another 2013 equipped the same or similar way, or the dealer will be willing to deal on a similar 2014 for just a few hundred more. Good luck, let us know what happens.
  8. Years ago my son bought an extended warranty other than the factory one for a Pontiac. What a pain dealing with those people and finding a mechanic who would accept the conditions of the warranty. From what I recall, it wasn't even a completely unknown company but one that had been around a while. He and I now only buy the factory warranties. Maybe a bit more expensive in the beginning, but well worth it when it comes time for repairs. No waiting for an inspector to come and look at the failure, no paying money up front and waiting for a reimbursement, etc. Good at ANY Ford or Lincoln dealer in the US and I think also in Canada. Check some of the on line sellers (Flood, Ziggler, Anderson-Koch) for very competitive prices.
  9. In my experience, I have had at least 8 different extended warranties, and only ONE time did I lose money on it. The other 7 times I was well over the cost of the warranty versus how much was paid out by them for repairs. It is a gamble no doubt, but I like the odds in my favor since I tend to keep our cars and trucks for at least 100000 miles or 7 or more years. I don't mind making a one time up front payment to an online seller of factory warranties for a 0 deductible, first day rental car included policy. The warranties also allow any pertaining TSB's to be performed at no cost after the factory warranty is up. There are many items which are covered which only fall under the bumper to bumper warranty of 3 years or 36000 miles. You are gaining extra years and miles on those parts being covered also, not just power train parts. If you don't keep your car for the full term of the warranty, you can transfer it to a buyer if you sell the car yourself. I have done that a few times, and it sure is nice being able to help sell a used car by offering remaining warranty. I got mine this time from Anderson and Koch Ford on line. There are several dealers on line that most people purchase from. Flood Ford, Ziggler Ford, Anderson and Koch Ford, and a few others that a Google search will find.
  10. When I purchased my 2013 Edge, I was signed up on the old Ford Owner's site and also the Ford credit site since I was able to view and pay my payments for the previous Ford I owned, and then the Edge. My wife had used her specific username and password to access the accounts since she does the banking. When I signed up on the SyncMyRide site for the Edge, I used my username and password selection. Well now, I can sign into the owner's site using either my wife's or my username and passwords. I can also log into the SyncMyRide site with either password and username. The problem is that I have an automatic vehicle health report set to run every 5000 miles right before I do an oil change. I ran it the other day but then got a strange text on the car. It said my phone number is not registered with Sync, that I need to visit the site and update the information. Now I only have one phone number associated with the car. It has always worked for the services, health report, and any other function. I don't know why I got this latest message from Ford about it not being registered. I had actually run a health report about two weeks ago, and it went through to my email with no problem. This latest report wasn't even sent to my email. Any way to fix this problem? When I go to SMR site, it says the phone number I input is already in use on another account but I only have the one account. Perhaps the different usernames and passwords which are accepted at the same account are causing the problem.. Ford had changed their owner's site and credit site in the past, and made things worse in my opinion. Don't know why they had to change anything.
  11. For a moment there I thought I was having flash backs or something. I could have sworn I read this post several weeks ago! Did some checking and sure enough a very similar post was made on July 20th. Glad to hear you are still liking your choice.
  12. Sounds like the same guarantee many of the brake pad replacements come with from other less costly sources. Ford is saying the work must be done at the dealership and ONLY the pads will be replaced free of charge after they reach the minimum thickness. Labor and additional parts are not included. You can buy brand name brake pads now from any auto parts store and install them yourself. Many come with the same pad replacement warranty for life. They also don't include labor or other parts, but they will be a lot less expensive than having the dealer do it and are usually a better quality product for less money. I guess if an owner isn't able to do their own brake work, at least it is a little bit of peace of mind if the pads wear again.
  13. You might want to follow this post where another owner is installing a different engine into his 2007 Edge. He was supposed to be getting the used engine today. Might want to private message him for details about removal/installation if he doesn't post any guidelines as he does it. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/15001-engine-swap/?do=findComment&comment=115022
  14. Although some individual dealers do provide a free "loaner" for warranty service, they do not have to. Ford's agreement with the end buyer is that a "loaner" will only be provided if a separate warranty (ESP or other extended warranty with rental coverage) had been purchased by the owner.
  15. If you are still under any remaining 36 month and 36000 mile warranty, the dealer is wrong. It should be covered under the bumper to bumper warranty, and would include any TSB's to be applied for free. If you are under just the power train warranty (5 years or 60000 miles) the camera is not covered by that. From your statement that the car isn't even 4 years old yet, it sounds like you are out of the bumper to bumper warranty.
  16. You can find the sun visors equipped with Homelink on eBay for some very good prices. Installation isn't that hard if you are a little bit mechanical and can splice wires together. Try a search on this forum to see if anyone has written up the project. If not, do a Google search about adding Homelink for some good posts on other Ford forums. You might also try checking You-Tube for any videos. I have read posts where people have just bought the transmitter part from other cars and added them into their own visors. Not all that hard to do if you go that route. The moldings are nice, but won't prevent all dings or dents. You would install them where they look best on your Edge. However, other cars that may open a door into yours will have their door edges all different heights. What I mean is a Chevrolet Impala may have it's extended door edge 30 inches high, a Ford F150 may be 36 inches high, and you may have put your moldings 27 inches high. Moldings may help in a few cases or prevent yours from hitting a pole or sign, but do it mainly for the looks if you like them. JMHO
  17. Perhaps by "switch" you mean a pump? Most cars and trucks have an electrical motor attached to the washer fluid container under the hood. The pump on my 2013 is at the bottom of the washer fluid container on the passenger side of the car. It is part #17664 in this diagram. I believe I have read about other owner's having the message to have the camera serviced. It is something a dealer has to do from what I recall.
  18. Best I could find for the Edge using a Google search so far. Says it is on a white label on the fuse box, but this is for an older model. Might be worth a try or do some more internet searching. I know other forums I follow (F150. Explorer) the code is always in the car somewhere. http://growingupgardner4.blogspot.com/2011/08/how-to-find-factory-keyless-entry-code.html
  19. Oh and I also ordered the Redline Quick lift struts for the hood and I’m looking for aftermarket horns if anyone has recommendations. Mine sound SOOOooo anemic ! (hmm, related to the battery issue???) I installed the Redline struts over the winter and can give a few suggestions. First, make sure you have a heavy duty quality rivet gun to use. I had purchased what I thought would do the trick according to the directions with the struts. Ended up messing up one of the rivets, just didn't have enough power to work the stainless steel rivet properly. I had to purchase a different rivet gun which was very heavy duty. It did the job, but even that one had a little bit of trouble. When they tell you to put a piece of tape or something on the drill bit to judge the depth of the hole you drill on the bottom of the hood, DO IT! I thought I could control it, but ended up with two very small, hardy noticeable dimples on the top part of the hood. I know where they are even though I bet 90% of anyone looking wouldn't see them at first. I love the struts and am glad I installed them. Take your time measuring where they go and you will have no problem. I went with the mid priced kit that had the black hardware.
  20. Try checking with Benny who is a site sponsor and listed on the main forum page under Levittown Ford Super Center. You could attach the photos there for him to see.
  21. Thanks for the reply and info about the T-10 bulbs being able to work with my 921 sockets. For the improved rear lighting, I am going to order those you linkd to. If they for some reason don't fit I'll just list them here in the classified section. Thanks.
