  1. Just curious if you have E-10 gas, or 100% gas that is giving you such great MPG's. I get right around 25 with my V-6 running between 65 and 70 mph of straight highway driving, usually with the air on. That's using the E-10
  2. Welcome! There are other owner's here also from Canada. Nice to have you as a member.
  3. I guess it could just be a coincident that something actually did go wrong at the same time as the bad battery, and is setting the warning. Drive to an auto parts store (Advance, Pep Boys, etc that are in your area) and have them check for any codes that may be set. Most stores will do this for free but California state laws don't allow them to do it. I guess you could also try to eliminate the problem by disconnecting the negative battery cable for several minutes and see if that clears the warning.
  4. I agree with checking to make sure the fuel tank is filled completely. I also have the problem of the last 2-3 gallons of fuel having to be "squeezed" in, otherwise I don't start with a full tank.
  5. I think you are missing some pieces off the lower valance like I explained. One is more expensive than the other one. One is for 17" wheels, one is for 18" and 20" wheels. There is nothing for the retainer pin to connect to from looking at your picture. It is just an open hole, nothing behind it for it to push into. What size wheels do you have, 17"?
  6. I did a little looking on a Ford parts wholesaler, and the only difference I can see is on the lower air dam. They call it a bumper valance panel, part number 17626 on their diagram. For an Edge equipped with 17" wheels, the price is $41.18 For the 18" or 20" wheels, the same part (17626) is $73.85 I'm thinking it is more expensive because it has the extra piece attached that the flaps attach to. Really can't tell from the diagram they use, but that is the only difference I could find. I couldn't find the flaps themselves or the retainer pin.
  7. Have you had the dealer mechanic sit in the car with you when you take off from a stop to duplicate the problem? If it happens for you when you take off, you might have to do it with the tech sitting in the car to witness what you are talking about.
  8. Your front lower air dam appears different than the one on my 2013 Limited. The spot where you have a hole is filled on mine with a push in retainer clip. It pushes into the lower part of the air dam from what I see. Your lower air dam appears the same as mine but I wonder if there is an additional piece added on the ends by the wheel well openings for the flaps to attach to? Like I said, mine has a push pin retainer in the hole, and it pushed into the lower air dam.
  9. If the car is in fact equipped with factory nav but missing the SD card, did the dealer list nav as an option that it has? If so, they would have to provide the card because without it the nav is useless. Have you even brought this up with the dealer? You may be putting the cart before the horse if you haven't approached the dealer yet.
  10. Seeing as the legal weight limit for a semi-tractor in the US is 80,000 lbs, I wouldn't want to see a 250,000 lbs one behind me, regardless of engine problems or not! Regarding the engine cut out, it could be electrical (loose ground, loose connection at the fuse box, etc) or mechanical (fuel pump shutting off, etc). Kind of hard to believe it didn't set any codes, but I've read similar on other forums. One of the causes was a loose fuse box connection ( wasn't a Ford), but it also didn't leave any codes. Ford does have a device you can plug into your car to record what is going on. It is usually used in cases where they is a problem, but nothing shows up when in for service. Might want to ask your dealer about that option. How many miles on the car and which engine?
  11. How new is the car? How many miles? If relatively new, it might just be some coating or something from the factory burning off. I have read on other forums of a similar smell, but it only lasted a few weeks. One interesting answer I also read was concerning the AWD models of some GM vehicles. Do you have AWD? As for the propane smell, I'm assuming you have AWD. The source of the smell is transfer case vent tube, as the transfer case contains Hypoid Gear Oil (sulfur based), which vents into the engine compartment, and then it gets drawn into the passenger cabin by the HVAC system. GM produced a relocation kit for this issue. P/N 19256170.
  12. The touch screen has never been a problem responding to any of my actions. Now when my wife is with me, she can never get it to respond without pushing, hitting, punching, etc. It's funny that she has the same problem with other touchscreen devices such as an I-pad, cell phone, Garmin GPS, etc. I never have a problem just using a finger. She usually has to resort to using a stylus on those devices for positive input on the screens. I also had installed a screen protector within the first month of purchasing the Edge and as far as I can tell, it has never had any negative effect on the touching of the screen. The turn signal problem on some 2013 Edges and even Explorers can be fixed by having the dealer replace it, or by doing your own modification to it. This fix was posted on the Explorer forum that I follow but it should also apply to the Edge. Note that this only seems to be 2013 models with the problem. Mine does have the problem, but I haven't done anything about it yet. A few owners here have had the turn signal stalk replaced by the dealer. It has been discussed on this forum in the past. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=388119
  13. So did you check the prior posts made by owner's, some of whom were able to find the cause of their battery draining? One was the Park shifter mechanism not giving a signal to a module that the car was in Park. This allowed a module to remain active and not shut off, resulting in the battery run down. There were a few other answers and suggestions in the 5 pages of posts that you added your post to.
  14. I got the harness hooked up, and now have the courtesy light function once again! I checked with 3 auto parts stores, and a large hardware store, and none of them carried the wire taps except for 16-18 gauge wire. Finally found some at WalMart for the 22-16 size.
  15. Sorry, but it's actually been raining here in the Dallas area for the last week or so. Very unusual, and the humidity has been high. Hopefully this weekend I can try some areas with the Dr Color Chip.
  16. Amazon has been great for the two returns I've ever had to do with them. I just file a claim on the Amazon site and don't even contact the seller of the product. Both times I was refunded my money within hours.
  17. I ordered my additional wire kit from Dan for the latest version of his DRL's to retain the courtesy lights. Received it today, after ordering it on Saturday. Just wondering why the new power wire to connect to the fuse box is black? I've never used a black wire for 12+ volts in an automobile, always used anything other than black, which is a ground 12- wire. I also need to know the size of the quick tap connector because there wasn't one with the package. Will have to pick one up.
  18. There is a label on the driver's door jamb or in that general area when you open the door, between the front and the rear door on that post. It will show the size tires the car came with, and the factory recommended PSI. I haven't heard of anything other then 35PSI for the Edge, but I don't know for sure.
  19. Height to the top on my factory installed hitch is 17-1/2 inches. The lip around the receiver is 1/2 inch, so the top part of the receiver itself is actually 17 inches if that matters.
  20. This Google search for "p0480 code ford" might help you sort it out. Hopefully someone else will have more exact information for you. https://www.google.com/search?q=p0480+code+ford+edge&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=sb
  21. What does wrapping it in foil do? Don't you have to unwrap it every time you want to start the car? I see where that would perhaps prevent the horn from honking and also allow the doors to lock with the lock button inside the door. I keep my IA hidden in the car and have for almost the last two years since buying it. I have gotten used to making sure the driver's door is closed last and to lock using the keypad. I sure don't want to wrap or unwrap the IA every time I get in or out of the car.
  22. I would at least pull the negative battery cable and wait 10 minutes or more. Hopefully, this might reset something somewhere somehow. Yes, it is just a guess, but I don't think it would hurt anything to try.
  23. I have the same color on my Edge, and put a nick in the rear bumper when I was loading up some stuff from a storage unit. I just received the Dr Color Chip kit which I will use later this week. I will post pictures of before and after, and give my opinion of the color match. Funny thing is that Dr Color Chip mixes the paint together in one bottle (even for my UG tri-coat) and then there is a "SealAct" that they call it to blend over the paint after it dries. We shall see.
  24. You will have to check the I was just in the middle of making a post that you have to have the Enhanced setting turned on in order to see the other displays. The Standard setting is the default. Glad you got it to work.
