About to buy a 2011 Ford Edge Sport

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, new to the forum. I'm looking to buy a 2011 Ford Edge Sport with 32k km (Im in Canada). I've attached the window sticker for you to see the options but from what i can tell from the 2011 Edge brochure it has all the available options and packages.. IT has the panoramic roof, AWD, all weather floor mats, Driver Entry, Vision and the Voice activated Navigation. As far as i understand that's all of them.

Here's a link to the brochure. http://www.ford.com/services/assets/Brochure?make=Ford&model=Edge&year=2011&postalCode=55401

Here's the craigslist Ad if you want to see some pictures.

Just wondering what you guys think this Edge is worth. They are asking $32,495. Went in for a test drive and now the price is $31,495, guess they dropped it. For me this is too much to pay. I like the vehicle, and if i really liked it I would consider paying this price. Wanted to know what you all think before making a decision. We tried to negotiate with them, but they weren't moving AT ALL. Said it's priced to sell and there's not much room to wiggle. They kept asking me what I was looking to pay, and I said well if there's no room to wiggle, then what's the point. I threw out the figure of $26000 and they flat out said no. Sales manager and salesmen was present. We got up and left, and said if we're interested we will call you, but at 31,495 it's a NO.

Well on the way home i get a call from the salesmen, my dad answered as i was driving. He says, well if you can close to deal today we can do it for $26,500. My dad says no, that he doesnt even want to pay that much for it. He tells him I don't know where my son (me) got that # from but that's too much. He offers him 25k and says to call me back if your manager agrees. Sales man calls back 2 mins later and agrees.

So 25k. Now what i want to know is WTF. I was just in there, ready and willing to buy, and they don't move a penny now they drop $6500. What kind of tactic is this. I don't feel like buying it now, because now im thinking, what's the catch. Is there something wrong with the vehicle. I know im being paranoid. There is still 1.x years left for the bumper to bumper warranty so Im not too worried. What do you guys think?

Sorry for the long ass story.

Another question about the panoramic roof, he said the back portion doesnt open up, is this the case for all 2011 Edges?

Thanks everyone, hope to join you all in becoming a new Edge owner.

MPG seems too high as stated on the window sticker, possible a conversion error (should be 19.4 mpg city, 26.9 on highway).

Could be an error on Ford's part, since I can only imagine you getting those stated mpg numbers if the truck had programming to use less than the 6 cylinders the engine came with (a feature on higher end cars).

Turbo 2012 mpg for your reference:

EDIT: Ok, I found the problem. I was using the gallons in US measurements (3.79L) vs. Imperial (4.55L). That accounts for the mpg ratings on the sticker. Live and learn :)

any opinions on the price?

I have the same Edge Sport that i bought brand new in May 2011 - $46000 + taxes from the Lower Mainland, British Columbia

Wow, that means my Edge Sport has lost $21,000 in 18 Months of ownership.

Check the Vin # with ICBC and make sure nothing happened to it, also ask if it was a rental company return

Other than that it looks like you are getting a really good deal.

hi guys thanks for the help. im going to give them a call tomorrow. found a few 2013 LTD on ebay for $33k'ish. Going to look into these as well. car fax on the original came up ok.

it says 2 owners. does the dealer count as the 2nd owner? Shows lease for the first owner, now personal as the 2nd owner. 2nd owner for 2 months and first owner for 1 year 2 months. Would you be concerned about a lease vehicle, im wondering why a leased vehicle would be returned after 1 year and 2 months.

Lease vehicle could be returned for many reasons - payments were too high, fuel too expensive, MFT frustration, job change... I wouldn't worry about that.

Sounds like a bargain though, I wanted a Sport (white or silver) but couldn't get the red one at my dealer below 33k with damage they wouldn't repair (curbed wheel, door dents x3) and high mileage at 42k.

I would choose sport over any other, the power is awesome and the ecoboost fuel economy is not great for us (not much highway use).

Go for it I say...good luck
