What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?

Recommended Posts

Since this type of thread hasn't been started yet, thought I'd give it a little push. Very popular on other forums, hope to make it a success here as well!

Posts should generally be short & sweet, detailed postings better placed in their own thread or added on to existing appropriate threads. That's the idea.

I replaced the fog lights on my Edge yesterday. They were looking somewhat anemic compared to my Osram NB Plus headlights. Went with Optilux (Hella) H11 Extreme Yellow bulbs for visibility. At least I can make out I have fog lights on now! Still to be tested at night. Next up, polish the fog covers to maximize the light.

I'm having LLumar Paint Protection Film put on my '13 Edge Sport this weekend. Only two months into owning her and I'm already annoyed by all the f*cking paint chips from rocks and other random debris flying up from the highway.

Great idea for a thread, by the way. I've seen similar threads on other forums and they resulted in some good input...

Washed? I knew I was forgetting SOMEthing!!!

Been beating on the Edge last couple of days. Was having problems with what seemed like transmission slippage, along with mild stumbling/misfire type behavior. Dealer had suggested MAF sensor replacement, I thought they were blowing smoke. Well, after putting in a new OEM unit (great deal from alanisdeals on EBay), all the issues seem to have been resolved. I had even cleaned the old sensor with MAF cleaner to no avail.

  1. Drove it to work today because of a critical systems issue
  2. Filled it up
  3. Ran a ton of errands with it
  4. Gave it a bath
  5. Letting it rest until tomorrow morning

I drove mine about 40 miles yesterday..went to see a movie and do some shopping.

The Mineral Gray is very nice for keeping clean so I find I don't have to wash it too often :)

Its going in on Monday morning for the hard wire install of a Valentine One (near the rear view mirror) and a

400 watt power inverter with 2 regular plugs and 2 USB power connections. I figured with an iPad, iPod, phone,

Verizon hotspot and a laptop computer that it would be worth it for the long trips I'm doing to be taking.

Be sure to post some afterpics of the install & log your experience too :) Weather is supposedly clear for me for the next week, but too cold to be outside washing the Edge. I just need to figure out how to integrate the touchless wash so it doesn't sandpaper the paint.

On my agenda is an exterior detail. I have most everything else (including a rotary). I just need new polishes and a nice carnauba wax to overlay my Klasse. Might go with Pinnacle.

However, today was routine for the Edge. Just drove to work.

How long does it usually take you to do your exterior detail? Do you have an indoor facility you can use for this purpose?

Used it to haul the kids to their weekly obedience classes (actually several times per week)

It can take anywhere from 4-8 hrs because I do tend to be a wee bit fussy. The day we do that is the same day we do a friend's 300 at his house.

Couple of good-looking cars! Post up a side by side pic if that's ok :)

I drove mine today, and then accidentally slammed my right knee into the edge of the door. It hurt so bad that I actually got nauseated.

Man, sorry to hear that Dingo! Hope it wasn't the one that was worked on? I typically bang my right knee on the edge of the dash getting in. Just a teensy bit too close for speedy entries :)

The right hip is new, but the knee is OEM. I was getting out and the wind blew the door right into my knee's path. The edge of the door hit me dead center in the patella. It hurt so forking bad that I started to tear up, and then started sweating and got nauseated all in under 30 seconds. It was weird as hell.

Dingo - what brand of rubber you got on those? Nice looking tread pattern...

EDIT: Toyo Proxes S/T (saw them on your insane mod list thread)
