Steve JC
A software update has now been issued. Is there a way to tell if this software update has been done? When I look for pending updates it doesn't list this one. The updates have been set to auto with an acceptable time period.

I don't see any recent updates either, although my 22 ST has never had this camera issue.
Blk22Edge
My 22 Edge needs the recall done. Unfortunately it needs to be done at the dealer. I'm not sure if anyone else experiences the same issue, but my car seem to be temperature sensitive. In the cold mornings in upstate NY the camera doesn't come on at times or it's delayed.
1004ron
Wonder how long we'll wait before they provide the remedy?
Wubster100
Still waiting on ssm 53966. 8 months absolutely no updates.

Phoenix_Guard
It looks like Ford had four separate recalls on Edge models across various model years for backup camera glitches in 2025. The most recent (NHTSA recall ID 25V572000) was issued on September 4, 2025. Pretty brutal year for Ford overall in terms of recalls, they had 19 recalls just affecting cameras (across all models) and 153 issued overall. 1004ron
I expect a looooong wait. Ford to recall 1.74 million vehicles in US over rearview camera issue, NHTSA says https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/ford-recall-174-million-vehicles-us-over-rearview-camera-issue-nhtsa-says-2026-03-06/
edjunior
Man, these rear-view camera issues have been going on for years. Why can't Ford get it right? You'd figure after this long, they would have it figured out.
STBEAST
I know. It just doesn't make sense. How in the world could Ford be so careless. What are they doing wrong? No wonder everyone is buying the competition. I get it, with all the technology packed into today's vehicles, there will be issues. But Ford is screwing up big time. My ST has not had this issue. But there have been plenty of other small issues that make me wonder??? Did I buy a piece of Junk???? Edited March 8 by STBEAST

I have not had any issue yet in my 2016 Edge, or my 2023 Explorer, but when I had my 2019 SuperDuty, I had to replace the front camera. The rear was fine before I traded it in, so I don't know if it ever failed or not. It was under recall, but when I traded it, it was still "awaiting parts". I bought the front camera from an online Ford dealer for a great price, and changed it myself. Took about an hour and all was well. My Edge is under recall for the camera, (guess what...parts unavailable at this time".) The Explorer has no recalls at the moment. STBEAST
I spoke to soon. The other day I was driving and my touchscreen went black. Then it did a full re-boot. This is about the 4th or 5th time this has happened in the 2 years I have owned the vehicle. Luckily after it re-boots, everything seems to work fine. Can't wait to see what kind of issues I am going to have years down the road as parts for the edge become harder and harder to get! Luckily, I bought the Ford extended protection plan. I'm pretty sure I am going to need it! Despite all the glitches, I still love the vehicle.
edjunior
Sheesh, there must be something in the air. Or there is a big jinx going on somewhere. I drove my Edge for the first time in a few days, and I'll be danged if the rear-view camera didn't give me problems. Backing out of a parking space, it was kinda black and skewed, and wavery image. I was like, no way. When I got home, I tried it again before I went in the house, and the image was mostly good, but kinda pixelated and distorted. Man, I couldn't believe it. I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens next time I drive it. I don't drive it often, but when I do, I expect things to work. I also have the extended warranty, but since this is under recall,, with no fix, warranty is N/A. This time.
Davidoo
So yesterday when I started my 22 Edge ST I got a message on my screen popup that I had a successful over the air update, and it was for the rear-view camera issue. I didn't expect this was going to come automatically, but glad it did so I don't have to go to the dealer. I never once had the issue, which is odd because I live in Phoenix and have had the car parked outside during the day where the temperature was over 120 degrees in a parking lot when I started it. Hopefully this means everyone will get the update as well. Screenshot attached.
1004ron
My 2017 cant update OTA and I was expecting it to be a hardware/camera replacement. I got notice that Ford now has the remedy but the service manager hasn't returned my calls - might stop in on my way home from work sometime next week.
Wubster100
I got an update for 22S14 (not 25S49) however the sync version did not change from 22028.
STBEAST
I don't think the Sync version would change. Just glad they were able to remedy it with an OTA update.
1004ron
Is it confirmed by any folks here that the sync update resolved the issue? Mine goes a couple of weeks without malfunction then it will misbehave every day or two for a while. I've inspected all connections with zero dirt or corrosion found, so wondering if mine will be remedied by a sync update.

I've been using CyanLabs to update it - can't recall what version its at now. My notice that arrived in the mail last month says that "replace the camera, if necessary, free of charge.", so looks like I need to stop at the delearship. The previous service manager gave me the parts for recalls and marked it as done, and hope the new SM will do the same.
