  1. I wanted the 2.7LEB but we would have had to order it and we didn't want to wait. Plus it's really the wife's vehicle and she drives like a granny. The 3.7L is available on all models and trim levels in the states. i think Canada is different though.
  2. Why do you need to know?
  3. Also remember that the alternator doesn't always put out a constant voltage - the PCM varies it as needed. Get a solar tester and test the CCAs. You can't go by voltage any more.
  4. On the new generation MKX you get a lot more over the Edge than in previous generations. We bought a 2008 Edge because we liked the styling better and couldn't justify the added cost. We were ready to buy a 2016 Edge but bought a 2016 MKX because we actually could justify the added cost. The seats are much more comfortable, it's much quieter, the Revel sound system is much better, embedded modem with mobile app, it had a unique color (luxe metallic) that we liked, the center console is cleaner and the interior materials are nicer. Add to that the longer warranty and the fact that Lincoln picks up the vehicle and leaves a loaner any time we need service (maintenance or warranty work) and we liked the MKX styling just a tad better and for us it was worth the upgrade. Of course that all depends on what you value. Nothing wrong with the Edge.
  5. You get used to it pretty quickly. The really cool part is it puts itself into park when you shut off the engine.
  6. They're dirt cheap if you decide you want one. The suspension was all aluminum and it drove great. Interior was a bit cheap but it was a good car.
  7. First, they're wheels not rims. The easiest way is to plastidip your current wheels. If you don't like it you can take it off or redo it any time you want and it usually looks pretty good. If you want new wheels use tirerack.com and it will show you the wheels that fit your vehicle - just make sure you're getting the same diameter wheel as the current one and you can reuse your tires (17", 18", etc.). You can get this from the last 2 digits on the current tire size (e.g. 265/40R20 - 20" wheel). If you go with some other wheel that doesn't say for sure it fits the Edge you'll need to check the bolt pattern and the offset to make sure it fits.
  8. I'll stick with 7500 mile oil and filter changes with the factory motorcraft synthetic blend.
  9. I bought it in October 1999 just a few months after they started production. I sold it in 2005 but this is pretty much what it looked like. The autumn red paint wasn't quite as dark as it appears. In the sun it had a metallic orange tint.
  10. I got caught in a similar circumstance when daughter totaled her 6 month old Focus. At the time there was a $1000 rebate. The database they use for comps (3rd party) only had one price in it from a local dealer who included the $1000 rebate in their listed price but didn't note it anywhere. Geico takes that price and subtracts the $1000 rebate (again). We had gap insurance so I'm thinking why do I care - let the gap insurance company fight it out with Geico. Except the gap insurance refuses to pay the $1000 difference saying Geico calculated it wrong (which was the case). Fast forward 3 months and I'm escalating to Geico trying to explain that they counted the rebate twice. They go back and do another pricing report and now there are several vehicles in the database and their price comes within $50 of what I was asking for. Problem solved but it was a PITA.
  11. Just remember that even though it meets Ford spec you still have to follow Ford's intervals which I think is max 10K, regardless of what the oil mfr says. Which is why they need a limited warranty. I'd hate to be in the middle of that pissing contest between Ford and Mobil about which warranty should cover something.
  12. I don't know, I had just not heard of it. Now that you mention it I don't remember getting puddles on my Fusion.
  13. That's really strange - etrailer is where I bought the Hidden Hitch for our MKX but it's not available now. Their website only shows one for the non sport non titanium models.
  14. Oh, so the DEALER was upset about dealing with the warranty company, NOT FORD.
  15. Like I said in the other thread, the hidden hitch does not interfere with the kick sensor at all. Not sure about other brands as their design is different and it's possible you might get some interference. It will still work but the area that you can kick may be smaller.
  16. They work for both but you won't see as much of an improvement on the NA 3.5L.
