  1. You still didn't answer the question - did you verify that both of the original keys are still able to start the vehicle? If one of the keys no longer works for some reason that would explain why the procedure didn't work.
  2. I think he's talking about the rear differential.
  3. According to Ford engineers I trust, the ptu fluid doesn't break down or need to be changed for 150K miles under normal conditions. They believe that manufacturing tolerances are leading to increased heat which then breaks down the fluid. Changing fluid when it hasn't overheated doesn't help. The trick would be to know when it's overheated and change it then. To that end I think they should have installed a temp sensor and triggered a CEL. I think they've focused on eliminating the cause of the overheating rather than putting a band aid on it. But it remains to be seen how successful they've been with the newer units. I do think this only affects a small percentage of vehicles but that doesn't help owners who are in that boat. I also think Ford should have extended the warranty to 100K on PTUs. I'm more worried about all the smaller problems that keep occurring with the Edge. On the Focus DCT - I had one and the problem that caused them to fail completely was fixed several years ago. Ours was still ok after 65K with just an occasional shudder. So it's not good but it's not as terrible as some make it out to be today. And they did extend the warranty to 100K including the TCM (which also went out on ours). Make no mistake I think Ford screwed up with the DCT and I'm surprised they're still selling it. But I don't think it's quite as bad as you think.
  4. The curt wiring harness I used stayed within the bumper on the outside. Only the power wire had to go inside the vehicle behind the taillight.
  5. So why not find a different dealer? That cost is entirely up to them - Ford isn't involved. I know you're saying Ford should extend the warranty and I agree but since they didn't it's up to you to shop around or DIY.
  6. ETIS frequently misidentifies the make and model. Everything used to show up as a Transit Connect. If the VIN is correct and the options and equipment is correct then you're good to go.
  7. No. Mine works on either side of the hitch with no problems.
  8. It was supposed to become a federal mandate but I don't know if that ever happened. It's still a good idea, mandate or not. There are 3 very easy workarounds to avoid it.
  9. Sorry I thought I had read that somewhere. You do need to have Siri turned on.
  10. Two honks in that situation would indicate the car is trying to be locked but a door is open. Perhaps the fob is sending a lock signal inadvertently or the person getting out is accidentally pressing the lock button on a fob at the same time.
  11. My point was if a bluetooth profile is supported it's the same interface whether it's an Android or Apple device. But I do understand that not all profiles are supported by all devices. And you're correct that every version and vendor you add to the list makes it exponentially more prone to problems and more difficult to test. Apple is easier in that regard.
  12. That is accurate, however it doesn't match the symptoms described which is that the horn sounds when the passenger door is opened not when the driver's door is closed.
  13. It usually means the engine is running and the door was shut and no key was detected inside the vehicle. Does it happen when the passenger door is opened or closed?
  14. I used the hidden hitch from etrailer on our MKX - it looks better to me than the other two, same price basically. I think I used the Curt harness plus a cheap metal bracket to hold the connector - no issues, easy install. Just make sure you create a solid ground connection. I tried to use an existing screw without scraping paint and I had to redo it. I tapped into the rear accessory port wiring behind the cargo panel on the driver's side (if you have that on the edge). Works fine.
  15. He spent 6 hours on it looking for a leak but he never ran any water on it? Seriously???
  16. If you can reproduce it with car wash spray it should be easy for the dealer to find it - relatively speaking. I assume you checked the weather stripping around the door?
  17. The only thing guaranteed to be consistent is that there is no consistency.....
  18. They probably changed out the hubs before the 2017 models at some plants.
  19. Another example of this is the way Internet Explorer used to cover up programmer errors like forgetting to close a tag. Firefox was more strict so you'd have something that worked on IE but not Firefox but the problem was actually a bug in the html strictly speaking. You'd really have to do some deep troubleshooting on the bluetooth interface to figure out where the problem lies.
