  1. Forscan cannot program keys, only enable remote start (if I read that correctly).
  2. The 2.0L was recently modified but it's still used in Escape, MKX, Fusion, MKZ and Edge. All Ford engines are designed and tested to 150k miles - ecoboosts follow the same requirements as naturally aspirated engines.
  3. It's akin to waking into a Casino with $1500 - at the end of the day you might go home with nothing, break even or win a few thousand. You might get lucky on one or two vehicles but in the long run, just like a casino, the house always wins because they set the odds (or in this case the price). It makes sense if you're on a fixed income and can't afford to pay out of pocket for a repair to finance the ESP with the vehicle - that way you're guaranteed only a small monthly payment. However, if you're purchasing it outright for $1200-$2400 then you should also be able to pay for an out of pocket repair, even a large one. And the chances of needing a high cost repair (>$3K) is lessened by the 5 yr/60K mile powertrain warranty. Then it's simply a gamble - are you willing to lose $1500 for the chance to save a few thousand? I never buy ESPs - I self-insure. On our last 5 vehicles which were kept 5-7 years each I saved at least $7500 by not buying the ESP and I only have a few hundred out of pocket in repairs total. If I had to replace an engine tomorrow I'm still thousands ahead in total cost. But you have to be willing to look at the total cost and not worry about a $2K-$3K repair bill. For me the thought of paying $1500 and potentially getting nothing in return kills me so I self-insure. If you want to gamble at least know the odds.
  4. Whatever you use make sure it meets the spec as listed in your owners manual.
  5. That area is open for a reason - you shouldn't block it off with a light bar.
  6. Did you replace the tires with the same brand/model or different ones and if so which ones?
  7. Why do I need to watch the tach in the first place? Ok, we're not going to agree on this one so to each his own. Back on topic since I can't split this out to its own topic.
  8. I know all of that. Waldo's point was you can't just add sync connect to a 2015 Edge because they didn't put in the wiring for the modem. The add-on device for older vehicles which includes the modem and plugs into the OBD-II port doesn't change that fact because it comes with the modem and uses the OBD-II port wiring to connect it to the vehicle.
  9. You need wiring to connect the modem regardless. When you plug into the OBD-II port you're using the OBD-II port wiring which is already present in every vehicle. But the factory sync connect solution doesn't plug into the OBD-II port - it requires dedicated wiring which isn't present in all vehicles.
  10. Give me one example of something that is "unusable".
  11. Well I do have 30 years experience in IT development and architecture, but I will confess I usually prefer command lines to GUIs. I don't have an issue with the colors - I like them. I keep the right hand menu on climate - temperature and the left hand display is on the vertical Tach and fuel economy and that's the way I leave it. The left hand menu system is a little clunky but I rarely use it. The layout could be improved but again it gives me all the info I want the way it is. To me it's more function over form and for me it's perfectly functional the way it is. YMMV.
  12. If they stole the owner's manual and keycard then they probably know the home address as well from the registration.
  13. I was going to move these cluster posts to another topic but the moderator permissions are messed up and it won't let me. Sorry.
  14. Just for the record, none of the moderators on any of the blueovalforums related websites (fordedgeforum, fordfusionforum, etc. etc.) are affiliated with Ford in any way. We're just volunteers who love cars and spend a good bit of time on the website anyway so we help out Robert the site owner. I'm not disputing whether you like the cluster or not or whether it's a problem for you personally, but it's still just personal preference. These clusters have been out since late 2012 and I can count on one hand the number of complaints from the Fusion and Edge forums. I for one have no problem finding the info I need at a quick glance nor do the colors strain my eyes. And I know that some people probably bought a Fusion or Edge because of the cluster and the fact that it looks more modern to them (think diehard smartphone lovers). Our MKX is a bit more subdued but I don't have any problem switching back and forth from the Fusion to the MKX.
  15. I have a 2013 Fusion titanium - maybe that's why I like it.
  16. I don't sell cars. I'll say it again - this is just personal preference. I bet a lot more owners like it than hate it.
  17. It would help to point out which model year edge you have. You would have to change either the Smart Junction Box or the Body Control Module and have the dealer reprogram it. Probably $500-$600 minimum.
  18. I don't quite understand - what's the issue with the new Edge gauge cluster?
  19. True but so many people go overboard and you can't see the damn brake lights in the daytime. Also - when the factory does it they must pass DOT tests for visibility so they know for sure they're ok. When you DIY you don't typically have those measurements.
  20. It almost sounds as if the lock button was stuck on the remote or in the vehicle. If it happens again take the battery out of the fob or take it out of range then try the keypad.
  21. Just so you know both heated and cooled seat settings use the fan - it blows over a peltier device to create the heat and cooling.
  22. The dealer may be able to reprogram it. If not you'll have to get a european spec radio.
