It always does except on a new model build - if the dealer obeys the rules on priority. Retail orders are 10-19 and dealer stock is 20+. The only time it doesn't is when the first of a new model comes off the line. Those vehicles are held for inspection until the plant goes 5 days in a row with no build errors. That could take 5 days or 5 weeks. In some cases those early vehicles sit at the factory for weeks and weeks waiting on repairs/reinspection and you don't want that to happen with a retail order. So Ford waits for the ok to buy so the retail orders can be shipped directly off the line.
-
Yeah yeah - we get it. Let's face it - at this point nothing Ford does would make you happy. Why do you still drive a Ford? Why not trade it for something you like?
-
They have to do something - otherwise a small dealer could order hundreds of vehicles that just sit there unsold while the big dealer has no inventory. Granted the small dealer couldn't do that for very long and stay in business but on a smaller scale it could hurt Ford sales overall. What Ford has done many times before is treat retail (sold) orders don't come out of the dealers' normal allocation, so buying one from a small dealer isn't a problem. I can't remember which vehicles they've done this on - more than one. But that would solve the problem.

Media Players Supported by SYNC?
akirby replied to tloewenberg's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Ford doesn't support specific players. It uses the same bluetooth or usb interface for all of them. The website only shows you what they had tested and the results. I would think the usb stick would work better. -
Wait - - do you guys think this is a Ford thing? It's not. It's an apple thing. It's been available in other vehicles for at least 2 years. Ford is simply using the apple Siri Bluetooth interface. How it works is entirely up to Apple.
-
Well I just tried it in the garage and it worked perfectly sending a text message. It knows whether the voice commands are coming through the Bluetooth interface from a vehicle and that's why Siri restricts certain things, but texts should not be one of them. When you press the button you're talking directly to Siri and bypassing the car Bluetooth interface. That's why it's different.
-
That's really strange if it's already available in the states.
-
It's a stand alone option on the 2016 Sport. I bet it's available in Canada and the website is just incorrect. The US option code is 63A.
-
Not confusing at all. If you only have one key you can't program new ones - only the dealer can and that's for security reasons. If that was possible then a valet or mechanic could take your one key and make a copy. The dealer can wipe out the old keys and add the one new one back as an admin key but if you're going to do that you might as well get a second key and get both programmed at the same time.
-
Like I said - something isn't configured properly in his setup.
-
Those aren't Ford restrictions - they're apple restrictions or you have an option turned off somewhere.

What I'm saying is that it depends on how the TB was failing. For some owners where it was just on the threshold that caused a failure the reflash may get rid of the problem. For others like you it won't. Obviously if the TB was completely kaput it won't help.

Navigation - Location Jumping Around
akirby replied to aarondesj's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
They can decide that either way. A TSB is not a recall - it just helps the tech identify known problems and fixes more quickly. All you can do is mention it and have them check it - ultimately they still have to troubleshoot it and decide what to do.- 11 replies

The reflash merely makes it more tolerant of failures making it less likely to shut down completely, but it's not supposed to fix the root cause of the problem.

How would the horn work with the fuse pulled? Was that a typo?
-
The problem isn't the vehicle - it's the incompetent dealer who should have fixed it the first time. I would take it to a different dealer at this point.
-
The fuses are detailed in the owner's manual (page 246) - no need to download anything from the internet. That is fuse #24 but it's the Horn Relay not Parking Lights. If you don't have the paper owner's manual you can download one from www.motorcraftservices.com or owner.ford.com.

We already have specific areas for maintenance, TSBs and problem resolution including videos. We don't need to duplicate things in this thread.

Your hyperlink isn't showing. I don't think you can use that to get your VIN - Ford added security with a token id.

Motortrend SUV of the year issue - January
akirby replied to GT500R's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I'd guess the as tested weights were more than 224 lbs different - lots of heavy options on most MKXs. Plus torque management. Also the MKX requires premium gas to get those numbers - if they used regular that would account for some of it. Don't put any stock in the winner of any of the MT "OTY" contests. It's all about the marketing plan and how the winner plans to advertise the award and not the technical merits of the vehicles. -
I know how it works to control yaw and help with cornering. The performance AWD system uses electronically controlled clutches to shift torque side to side - like a limited slip diff but with infinitely more control.
-
I get that part but that's basic stability control. I thought Waldo was talking about doing it strictly for more traction.
