  1. That's not true at all. Defective parts are only covered during the warranty period unless it's a safety recall. Otherwise the mfr would essentially be offering a lifetime bumper to bumper warranty and that would add thousands of dollars to the cost of the vehicles. If you wanted more coverage than what the mfr provides you have the option of purchasing an extended warranty. That said, I think the later models should have been covered under the same recall. My guess is there haven't been enough failures yet and Ford is trying to wait until the replacement tank supplies catch up with demand but they will eventually be recalled as well. I think they should have extended it anyway - hopefully there are only a few of the 09+ models affected. If you can get it fixed or replaced now go ahead and just save the receipt - if it's recalled later they'll reimburse you.
  2. I use a specialized blend of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen. I keep it in a special pressurized tank in my garage.....
  3. I'm not blaming you so much as I'm trying to point out where Ford's responsibilities should end. I agree your daughter should be allowed to drive the rental - is that being denied by Ford or the dealer/rental company? Maybe our Ford service rep here can help with that.
  4. The only reason I mentioned it was because you asked for 0% financing from Ford which was already available. While I'm sympathetic to your situation I don't think it's reasonable to expect Ford to do any more than provide a free rental and offer fair market value plus $2500 additional rebates. It's not Ford's fault that you have bad credit and you're upside down on the vehicle. Like I said if the vehicle was totaled you'd be in a worse situation with no extended loaner and no assistance at all.
  5. Yep - just like my fusion.
  6. I assume it's like the Fusion - ridges on the top of the handle to lock it and a sensor inside the handle to unlock.
  7. Since when has Ford refused to fix the problem? Or did you really mean Ford's refusal to fix it for free outside of the warranty? I would like to see Ford extend the warranty on these.
  8. So it's Ford's fault you're $3800 upside down on a 7+ yr old vehicle? If you had totaled it, you'd be in much worse shape with a $3800 balance and no assistance towards a new vehicle. You say you want 0%? Ford is already offering 0% financing for 72 months plus $1500 cash back on 2014 Edges. Add the $2500 and that's a pretty good deal on a new Edge. Or is the problem that your credit isn't good enough to get Ford financing? Can't afford a new Edge? Get an Escape or a Focus that's a lot cheaper. Or just take fair market value and go buy something used for the same price.
  9. 2013+ Fusions have sensors on all 4 doors.
  10. You're right about the timing. But both have virtually the same energy content - the only measurable difference is the volatility.
  11. No way! Next you'll tell me a pound of feathers weighs the same as a pound of nails!
  12. No OEM way because it's illegal to have brights and fogs on at the same time. I think that's now all controlled by the SJB so you'd probably have to rewrite the fogs.
  13. Ford doesn't manufacture the fuel tanks. It's their responsibility but I can't remember the last time there was a recall on this many fuel tanks other than the straps. Read post 87 - you should check with your dealer and have them check with Ford about a buyback.
  14. I'd say it would only be 25% of zero. Way less than 50%.......
  15. I don't think they're doing this on purpose. I don't think their supplier is able to produce new non defective tanks fast enough. They may have needed to redesign it or use new materials.
  16. TPMS is actually required by federal law for the last few years.
  17. If this is true this is good news. That's what I've been saying they should do since the beginning.
  18. Just so you know, shipping, advertising and fuel are all included in the actual dealer invoice price. They're just itemized separately.
  19. You do have TPMS. It will alert you if a tire is more than 25% low. It just doesn't tell you which tire. The 2015 will tell you the individual tire pressures but no pre-2015 Fords have this AFAIK. It's not a big deal since you still need to check pressures on all 4 tires and refill appropriately. The wheels are actually real chrome - clad over plastic. They're lighter than chromed steel wheels and will not pit or rust. We had them on our 2008 Edge for 6 years and they looked as good the day we traded it in as the first day. The downside is they cannot easily be repaired and they're expensive. Ford isn't the only one using them either.
  20. To each his own. I'm sure there are just as many folks who prefer the new one over the old one. $7K in rebates?? That doesn't sound right. I only see $4750 if you have a conquest vehicle and you're financing with Ford Credit. Maybe you were including discounts off MSRP?
  21. Doesn't seem to bother my cookie sheets...... Just sayin'.......
  22. Your first post made it seem like you had not looked in the manual at all, so I was pointing out that the owner's manual contains the exact specification for all fluids and filters. If you had already looked and saw Mercon but got conflicting information from the dealer you should have said that up front - we're not mind readers.
  23. Just so you know, it only works while the vehicle is stopped. You may need two cables - one for the phone and one for the A/V ports that fit together.
