  1. It's just Additional Dealer Profit. They tack it on at the end of the sale as a "standard fee" which most buyers just accept not realizing it's completely negotiable. It can range from $75 to $700.
  2. Version 1 of the owner's manual says Mercon. Version 3 says Mercon V.
  3. We replaced a 2008 Edge last year. I wanted a MKC but wife didn't like the grille (and it's her vehicle). She drove and liked the Escape titanium so that's what we got. It is missing a few features that I have on my Titanium Fusion but the worst part is the seats. They're just not comfortable to us, especially the passenger seat that feels like it sits 2 inches too high and it's not adjustable. This is the first time I've ever encountered seats that weren't comfortable, including our daughter's 2012 Focus. Not a big deal right now since we use the Fusion for road trips, but I want to replace it with a mustang convertible. We'll end up trading it for either a MKC or an Edge - most likely a new Edge just for the extra room and comfort and lower price.
  4. RTFM for any fluid or filter replacements.
  5. Your dealer should be able to give you a DORA (Dealer Order Receipt Acknowldegement??). If they can't that's not a good sign. However, priority 10 and RETAIL are good signs that it has been placed.
  6. It also depends on how exaggerated that power rating is. Which amp?
  7. Won't work without a card. Are you sure there's no card in the SD slot in the center console?
  8. Good grief - could you throw in a few periods please? That's very hard to read. Does it really have 260K miles or was that a typo?
  9. Yep, that was it. The fix was a new shifter.
  10. They'll let you keep the same payments for +/- 3-4 months. Longer than that and you basically have to terminate your 24 or 36 month lease and do a new 36-48 month lease since the depreciation rates would be different.
  11. The point is different manufacturers offer different features at different times. Your 2013 Edge has dozens of features your 07 Caddy didn't.
  12. Just wasn't a priority. Your 07 Caddy didn't have sync.
  13. Same as my Fusion. Escape/Focus is even worse. There is a negative battery terminal in the engine compartment next to the positive terminal to make jump starting easier. You don't have to reach the negative terminal itself.
  14. Most likely keep the current ones, but nobody knows for sure. Ford guards new incentives like Fort Knox. They do a better job of not overbuilding the old ones so there isn't a big inventory glut they need to clear out. But if you can wait and keep an eye on the inventory levels you might get another $1k-$2k, but hard to say for sure. It's definitely not guaranteed.
  15. The real reason you don't get DD or DTS surround in a car stereo is simple - there isn't enough music content to justify it, just like DVD-A. If there was a lot of DVD-A, DD or DTS recorded music available then the stereo mfrs would have decoders.
  16. I'm sensing a pattern........
  17. Another funny exchange back in the days of VCR recordings. We used to record Buffy the Vampire Slayer on VHS. One day I found it recording Angel, the show after Buffy which I didn't watch. I wasn't sure if she set it to record on purpose or if it was still recording Buffy by accident. Me: Did you mean to record Angel? Her: I like Angel - it's similar to Buffy. It's got good stories and characters. Me: Did you mean to record Angel? Her: Me: . Was the answer to my question yes or no? Her: . Yes. Me: Thank you. Guys rule #12 - the answer to most questions can be yes or no.
  18. My 95 Ranger had analog gauges but it also had a red "check gauges" message light. One day my wife was driving it and called. Her: "The check gauges light came on when I was leaving daycare. It's out now." Me: "Ok, so what was the problem?" "The light was on" "I know but what was the problem?" "The light was on" "What did the light say?" "Check gauges" "Did you?" "Did I what?" "Aaarrrggghhhh!!!!!!" Turns out the fuel was low and she parked on a hill so it was the low fuel warning.
  19. You can use the sync usb ports to charge any device with a usb plug including ipads/tablets.
  20. If you have a sub you have the premium system. Crutchfield will show you which speakers fit the doors and that will let you figure out 2 and 3. I answered 4. If you want to upgrade the factory sub amp you'd probably need to upgrade the sub as well. There are some old threads about aftermarket subs and what fits the factory space - do a forum search.
  21. Yeah Crutchfield will show you components that fit. They're not hard to replace - the door card.....err...panel (too much wheeler dealers) comes off pretty easily and they have adapaters so you don't have to cut wires.
  22. They're tweeters driven off the main door speakers with a built in crossover. I doubt a new tweeter would give you more/better sound though. Probably want to replace both with a good component setup, otherwise the crossover may not match the new tweeter.
  23. The sensor probably communicates with the SJB to control the lights so the logic to interpret the sensor is in the SJB, not in the "detector" so you can't just install the detector to activate the switch.
