Shift to Park Warning when it's in Park
akirby replied to AmyLovesHerEdge's topic in All Wheel Drive (AWD)
No such thing as a "low level recall" and this certainly would never qualify for a recall of any kind. It's a bad part that goes bad on some vehicles usually within the warranty period. If you chose not to have it looked at during the warranty period then that's on you. -
There's no "misdirection" going on, just perspective. I do think Ford should simply replace the Throttle body without a code if the owner reports that it stalled then restarted with no other symptoms. You shouldn't have to go through multiple failures or recorders just because the PCM doesn't keep the code.

And don't post this over and over or I'll have to flag your account as a spammer. One topic is enough.

It's entirely possible that whoever did the oil change screwed up and either didn't put in enough oil or you had a leak. Engines rarely fail before 100K without an external cause. So what was the diagnosis? What failed? Did it simply overheat or was it a lubrication problem? If you wanted warranty coverage you could have purchased it to 100K miles.

Wiring Diagrams for 2013 SEL "6" Speaker System
akirby replied to Rmmcgrew's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
And BTW - you can't use copyrighted material "as you see fit" - that's why it's copyrighted. There are certain things you can and can't do with it. E.g you can't make copies and sell them. -
Wiring Diagrams for 2013 SEL "6" Speaker System
akirby replied to Rmmcgrew's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I think it's ok as long as it's only a few pages here and there in direct response to a question. If it was posting sections of the manual for general reference then that would be a problem. -
They're very common on boats.

It is covered by the B2B warranty. -
What size Winter Rims & Tires for 2013 Edge AWD
akirby replied to Sprocket2324's topic in Wheels & Tires
Use the OEM wheel and tire sizes for 17" and 18". If you put in 2013 Edge SE or SEL at tirerack.com that should give you the OEM sizes. -
If the engine temp is good then it's working. Both fans run when the A/C is on. As long as it isn't overheating with the A/C on it's fine.

Call back and ask for Sally's supervisor. That just doesn't sound like an accurate response. If it is that's disappointing.

Why does everyone seem to think that any part that ever fails on a vehicle should always be replaced for free? That would be a lifetime warranty and you can add several thousand dollars to the cost of the vehicle to cover that. I think they should extend the warranty on this part to 100,000 miles. But anything with moving parts can fail over time. If you choose not to purchase an extended warranty then you're taking your chances should something happen - known problem or not.
-
Was it a call from FMC directly or from the dealership? That just doesn't sound right at all.
-
Nope. You can do up to 10K on synthetic blend under the right conditions.

Sounds like the TCM.

And I'm not sure what you're not seeing. The backspacing and offset are clearly shown on each wheel and tirerack says these wheels will fit the Edge. If you want your aftermarket 18" wheels to fit the same way as the stock OEM 18" wheels then you need to find ones with similar width, offset and backspacing to the ones shown. I can't make it any clearer.

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/results.jsp?filterSize=18&filterFinish=All&filterBrand=All&filterWeight=All&autoMake=Ford&autoModel=Edge+SEL&autoYear=2010&autoModClar=FWD&sort=Brand&filterNew=All&filterSpecial=false Shop for wheels. Put in 2010 Ford Edge SEL FWD. Filter on Tire Diameter - 18" OE. Bingo.

If you had followed my directions and put in your vehicle on tirerack.com you'd see that the factory wheels are 18" x 8" with a 35 mm offet and 5.8" backspacing and a 5-114 lug pattern. So you want 8" wide wheels with a 35mm offset, 5.8" backspacing and a 5-114 lug pattern.

Tirerack.com will show you aftermarket wheels that fit and you can figure it out from those. BTW - technically they're wheels, not rims. Rims are just the edges.

That doesn't make sense. There is no difference between bringing in X amount of air with a filter and 30% throttle or without a filter and 20% throttle. The MAF measures the amount and density of the incoming air and adjusts the fuel accordingly. You'd get more air at WOT so you might see a slight power gain there but it just doesn't make sense that removing the air filter yields better mpg. In fact somebody did a test and actually put a cloth diaper in the airbox severely restricting airflow. Had very little power but fuel economy actually went up, not down. If you're seeing different mpg then it's probably due to a change in your driving. BTW - if you check K&N's website they have actual dyno graphs for power gains, but they don't have any test results related to mpg nor do they make any claim of increased mpg due to a free flowing filter. They simply hint at it. If it was true they would have some actual test results just like they do for the dyno.

MapQuest Send To Car Button Gone?
akirby replied to ls973800's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Again - it's not hard to hack some code together to send map coordinates to the nav system or to set up the wi-fi connection. But setting up your own Mapquest website is a huge undertaking if you want it to work flawlessly even with access to map data. The complexity comes with customers using multiple browsers, apps, versions, etc. Even supporting multiple wi-fi protocols isn't technically difficult but it requires a LOT of testing and re-testing and lots of error handling. It just so happens that I used the voice control for nav on Thursday to find a MRI appointment. "Navigation" "Destination Street Address" "1234 whatever street roswell" Done. Hit set as Destination and was done. It doesn't always work that well but for me it works most of the time. I've found that you need to talk softly and quickly rather than loud and slow - works much better. I'm not saying Ford couldn't have done better - there is loads of room for improvement. Just explaining why they do some things and not others. -
I don't understand why they haven't at least extended the warranty on this.
