Are they locking in place? Can you pull on the shoulder strap and get slack?
-
A company like Ford gets thousands of emails every day. Having someone like Tricia you can deal with directly is more effective and is the reason they're here. It's like being given a hotline directly to a customer service specialist but not using it. If you've made up your mind you don't want it then that's fine, but if you still want to get help then let Tricia help you.

Sounds like the controller, not the sensor. But I'm not sure which one controls it. You could try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to reset everything.
-
The only complaint not addressed is the lack of latitude and longitude inputs which most people don't use. And you could say it's been addressed - they decided to remove it. I have 3 MFT equipped vehicles - 2012 Focus, 2013 Fusion and 2014 Escape. With the latest software they are rock solid stable.
-
Sounds like you a bad APIM. Those symptoms are not typical of the later MFT software. Too bad they can't get those diagosed and replaced more easily. And FYI - they don't use novocaine any more - it's lidocaine. And root canals don't hurt when done properly. Sorry you can't say that for MFT.

2008 OEM Navigation update?
akirby replied to Mike08EDGE's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Yes, it's a DVD based system so you need an updated DVD (not CD). The sd cards are only for the 2011s and later with MFT.- 5 replies

If the brake lights don't work then it won't shift out of park. Check the sensor behind the brake pedal.
-
You do understand this is a dealership issue that Ford has no control over, right?
-
I thought it was added but couldn't remember for sure. Thanks! The headlamp indicator on the car icon in our 2014 Escape is really cool. I didn't know it was there until somebody pointed it out.
-
Exactly. The factory does a good job of tuning the suspension for 20s and 22s from the factory. With aftermarket wheels and a factory 17" setup you might get different results. You might want to check the shocks and springs between the 17", 20" and 22" factory versions and upgrade those as well if they're different.

No - the gauges and software are completely different. There may or may not be a green indicator somewhere else on the dash - one for the headlamps and another for the fog lights. I can't remember which ones have it or don't have it. Focus and C-Max and Escape are the same. Fusion and Edge are similar but may not be exactly the same until the 2015 Edge arrives.

It stops working giving you a door ajar warning constantly. Seems to be really common.
-
Door sensor is well known - many topics on it here already. For auto unlock - are you thinking the door should unlock when you get close to the vehicle? It doesn't work that way. You have to touch the inside of the door handle with the key nearby to unlock it. It won't unlock without touching the door handle. Auto unlock in the menu means when you stop the vehicle and open the driver's door all of the doors will unlock.

They have to do an Oasis search to find the relevant tsbs. Some might truly be inept and unable to find them but I suspect most of the ones who don't find it just don't take the time to look and don't care. They may not feel what Ford pays them for the warranty work is worth the time.

Flat towing 2011 Edge LTD with push button start.
akirby replied to Dbl A's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
You're supposed to tow it in accessory mode and you have to run the vehicle periodically to keep the battery charged. It's explained in the owner's manual. The procedure to manually shift into neutral is also explained under Driving/Brake shift interlock. But towing without accessory power is not recommended according to the manual. -
Theoretically. But since those are two totally different platforms you'd have to find someone who has done it already or try it yourself to see.

Nushield works great. I actually forgot it was on there.

Brake booster? Common problem.

It's aerodynamics. It's not linear.

That stuff is made for exterior use on the underside of cars so dirt, rain, etc. shouldn't be a problem. The metal basket type would be easier and safer anyway and more useful. You could easily add an aluminum shield on the corners if necessary.

That's 21.5 mpg at 72 mph. EPA rating is 25 but you'd need to be going 55-60 to get that under ideal conditions. Doesn't sound that far off to me.

2015 Ford Edge Introduced - Edge Going Global
akirby replied to LI Edge's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Notice the difference in the rear hatch opening - the new one is more vertical on the sides whereas the old one is slanted. When you change platforms everything can change.
