  1. It's not smaller - the tire is the same diameter. The wheel diameter is irrelevant - it's the tire diameter that's important.
  2. Looks better with bigger wheels, lower profile tires and smaller letters.
  3. I forgot about the hubs being different.
  4. Should be ok. The bolt pattern and back spacing are the critical measures and if tirerack shows them to be the same they probably are.
  5. You want to stand out for all the good reasons, not the bad ones. I think RWLs look good on some SUVs but not modern cars or crossovers so to me this would be a bad one, but in the end it's your vehicle.
  6. They used to use thicker glass and more insulation.
  7. Antonio - pulling the fuse does not lose any settings or favorites. It just forces a complete power off of the APIM, just like removing the battery cable. Thanks for helping out here - much appreciated!
  8. It is possible - newer cars are sealed up much tighter than older cars. Do you keep the hvac on recirculate all the time? Only way to really tell is to dry it out completely and make sure you don't leave any snow or water in the vehicle when you park it and see if the moisture comes back. It could still be a roof leak. Once they dry it out have them do a leak test spraying the roof with high pressure water for several minutes. IF there is a roof leak it should appear while they have the headliner out.
  9. Not sure - you'd have to check with Flood Ford to be sure. I would also check the Ford ESP site to see if it says anything about Canadian vehicles.
  10. That dealer warranty is probably so limited and narrow that it's worthless - unless they've jacked up the price to cover a real warranty. Don't forget the factory powertrain warranty is good for 5 yrs/60K miles so a 7 yr 100K mile ESP is only providing 2 extra years of powertrain coverage (less if you drive more than 14K miles per year). Electronics and PTUs tend to fail during the factory warranty period. If you really want the ESP get the Ford ESP. Or just put that money in the bank and if you don't have to spend it on the edge you can use it for another vehicle or anything else you want.
  11. My apologies. I don't know what I looked at but whatever it was did not meet the spec, but you are correct that the top tier Amsoil 5W-20 full synthetic does meet the spec. I even checked the cached copies to be sure they didn't change it and they didn't. I was wrong.
  12. I'm just saying that the high mileage would not be a problem provided everything else checks out. A Ford dealer would be better to do the inspection since they should know the problem areas to look out for, but any competent mechanic can do it.
  13. Think about it - how many times do you use the brakes on a 20 mile drive in city or mixed conditions? 10, 20, 30? How many times on a 20 mile highway drive? 2? 3? The engine is also cruising on the highway - much less abuse than city driving where you're accelerating and braking, stopping and starting. I'd say 66K kms of almost pure highway miles would be the equivalent of 20K kms of normal driving. I would only recommend a Ford ESP warranty and only if you can't afford to pay for a large repair out of pocket in which case you should roll it into the loan. If you can afford to pay cash for it then you can afford to pay for repairs and in the long run you'll come out ahead not buying extended warranties.
  14. It does NOW. I assure you it did not have the MC930A spec listed when I made the original post - I looked.
  15. Rotors won't help at all. Pads will help more than anything but I don't know if ceramics are the best or not. Stainless steel brake lines will help the pedal feel.
  16. Waldo knows what he's talking about. My point was that the price tag on the GC was closer to the MKX than the Edge and you do get things like cooled seats on the MKX. Ford just has 2 models with different price tags and features whereas Jeep just has one. That said, I expect to see cooled seats on the new Edge because other Ford have it now as a high end option. MFT is a resistive screen - you can use it with gloves on and it's much more resilient than capacitive touch and therefore a much better choice for a vehicle. You can get a new cell phone every 2 years - a car touch screen has to last 10-20 years. Why Ford doesn't give actual tire pressure by location is a mystery to me. Maybe Waldo can explain that one. Ford had a big head start with MFT but they hired the wrong company and Bsquare really screwed them with horrible software that was almost impossible to fix. Now they're playing catchup. i'm sure they won't make that mistake again.
  17. Why do I feel like I should delete this topic before certain people read it?
  18. It's obvious they have some ergonomic work to do, especially with all the redundant controls that IMO are unnecessary. I think the new vehicles will have regular climate controls in the normal spot and no more capacitive controls so that should solve that problem. Again, I think the next version will fix most of these issues - too bad it will be another year or two before we see it. With MKX you also get better materials and more sound deadening and a better warranty. Not sure how the GC fares on those areas compared to the MKX, but the price is closer.
  19. Fuse 29 only resets the APIM. Disconnecting the battery resets all of the components.
  20. I think you should compare that loaded Jeep with a MKX which does have cooled seats and a few other features not on the Edge. I think Ford had big plans for MFT but those plans were completely derailed when BSquare (former Microsoft employees but NOT Microsoft) screwed the pooch and produced a horrible product that took 2 years to get stable. That prevented them from adding features and making significant improvements. I think Ford threw in the towel on the current MFT software once it was relatively stable and started working on the next gen version. I fully expect the next gen MFT to be much more functional and far more stable and responsive than the current one. Have not heard yet when that version will debut but it can't come soon enough. What type of touch screen does the Jeep use? Is it the same type as MFT or different?
