Couple of strange issues with heating system on Mkx
akirby replied to teknowiz's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Even if it had been 7 degrees Celsius - the HVAC would have come on in automatic mode. It wasn't the outside temperature. -
Not easily.

The outside temp just augments the internal temp sensors for HVAC. It shouldn't cause the heat not to come on if it's cold inside the vehicle. Based on your example I think it's actually showing the current temp initially, which I assume is higher than ambient due to the sun? -

That's the way it's designed. -
You should never fuel the car while it's running, even if it's really cold. If it doesn't fix itself try disconnecting the negative battery cable.

When the vehicle is started the outside temp sensor is not accurate since it may have been sitting in the sun, etc. So it stays on the previous temp until you start driving. After you've driven for a few minutes the sensor will register the correct ambient air temp. It's normal. There is no correct way to do it - if they used the sensor reading immediately it would be inaccurate. I remember my 06 Fusion would show 120 degrees in the summer when it was sitting in the sun. -
I don't think I've ever touched the volume knob. The radio stays on all the time and I use the steering wheel volume controls. That goes for the Edge and my 06 and 13 Fusions.

Hmmm.....it's my wife's car and I haven't driven it much since I got my new Fusion, but I don't remember it being lighted. I'll try to check tonight.

If it only does it while braking I would suspect the brakes, otherwise I'd check the CV boots and axle and check for any loose suspension parts.
-
Love it. I had to get the fuel tank replaced but other than that it's been perfect.

You can get the key cut at Home Depot or anywhere and program it to the vehicle yourself. You don't need the dealer as long as you have 2 working keys.

Question for Todd, Our Ford Service Rep.

That was probably a little over the top on my end, too - I just didn't like the tone of your reply to Todd. -

But the letter specifically says that you won't lose brake function. Not sure what else Ford could possibly say. From what I've seen here I think this only affects a small number of vehicles overall - maybe 5%-10%? It would be silly to do a recall and replace the brake booster on all vehicles if 90% of them are just fine - provided the failure does not create a safety problem. -

If your vehicle is an Edge then it's built in Oakville. -

I've seen quite a few bad booster complaints here and nobody lost brake function as far as I can remember. If it really bothers you that much then either go ahead and replace it yourself or get rid of the vehicle. Nobody's holding a gun to your head. -
Question for Todd, Our Ford Service Rep.
akirby replied to Larry's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
From what I've seen the brake booster failure does not cause an unsafe condition and is just as Ford describes, therefore a safety recall is not warranted. If it was the NHTSA would be all over it. Asking if Ford is waiting for an injury or death to occur is totally out of line and asking Todd directly is WAY out of line especially when Ford is correct about there not being a loss of brake function. Further similar questions or comments will be deleted. -
Cows seem to cope just fine........

2011 Edge Sport 22" slow leaking tires...decisions
akirby replied to smoothballer's topic in Wheels & Tires
A TSB does not mean no cost to repair. If you're out of the 3/36K b2b warranty then it's not covered regardless of whether there is a TSB or not. If they extend the warranty with the TSB or do a safety recall then it's no cost. -
That probably means the Lincoln head unit isn't using the same trigger wire for the amp to turn it on. Unless you're handy with a voltmeter I'd suggest taking it to a stereo shop. They should be able to fix it by testing the wire signal going to the amp.
-
Only if the sub amp has a separate ground from the head unit. Where is the amp for the sub - that's usually separate from the HU. You need to see if the sub amp is getting power or not if it's separate.

Cloth heated seats have been an option on Ford Canadian vehicles for over a decade - maybe longer. We just never got that option in the U.S.
-
Don't recall that problem. It sounds like you have a bad APIM. Does it start with the vehicle, then disappear or does it just never come on at all?

So you'll split the savings with me? I'll pm you my account info.......

Are you sure it says A/X/Z? It usually says not available with A/Z/D plan but is available with X plan.
