I forgot how to register the version checker but there must be instructions somewhere. I don't blame the dealer for wanting to do the update themselves - they're on the hook if you screw it up.
Nope. Ford hasn't provided this at all in recent memory. Even with a gauge it only tells you whether it's within normal range or not - not the actual temp. You may be able to get it with an obd-II scanner.
Not sure if all Edges came with Sync or not but most did for sure. If it did there should be a Sync powered by Microsoft badge near the radio. It is standard with MFT.
According to what I've seen on other forums:
1 - no but you can download the software yourself using the link in the TSB. I'll try to post it if I can find it. You'd still have to go to the dealer for a new card I presume.
2 - no
3 - yes - response is reported to be much better and much faster with improved voice recognition
What Waldo is saying is there is no inherent delay in the throttle electronics - the delay is in the PCM so changing the throttle itself won't help much because it won't override the PCM.
It's called Accessory delay and it works the radio, windows, etc. for 10 minutes after turning off the ignition until the door is opened. Just use accessory mode if you want to leave it on longer.
If you only have one working key you can't do it yourself - has to go back to the dealer. This is for your safety so a valet can't clone a key to your vehicle using just the one key.
The point was that the buyout is really just a guess based on the estimated residual value at the time of lease. It may or may not be the current wholesale price 2 or 3 years later. The market can change. Sometimes the buyout is cheaper than the current market and sometimes it's more expensive.
You can use it with X plan. Everything you buy is "dealer stock" - that phrase used to mean that you only get the incentives when the vehicle is delivered regardless of whether you order or buy off the lot. But now Ford offers incentive protection so you can usually get either the incentives at time of order or when it arrives.
This was for the new software a few months ago. It came from Ford with a new SD card for nav maps. If you already got the updated nav sd card you should be ok.
Ford switched from 5W-30 to 5W-20 specifically for better fuel economy. Although it wouldn't be more than a few tenths of a mpg.
Although if they used 10w-40 that might be more noticeable (and detrimental).
