  1. Try adjusting the stereo volume while it's sounding off. It may not work but it's worth a try. I remember discussing this and how it may have been different from other vehicles but I don't remember the details. Just try it and see - if that doesn't change it then it probably can't be changed. Wait - when you say you have the rear parking aid installed - you're talking about the factory version, right?
  2. Are you sure the dealer gave you the new version?
  3. There you go. I knew there was a bigger list.
  4. I thought I already said no, there are a lot of bug fixes. I saw at least 3 others mentioned including the system staying on after exiting the car but I don't remember where it was posted. They would not put out a new release just for one small feature.
  5. It doesn't void any part of the warranty, but if your modifications cause a problem then the affected parts may not be covered if Ford believes the modifications were responsible. e.g. if you splice wires and end up with an electrical problem.
  6. Some of it may have been rewritten but BSquare was still involved and at least some of the code was reused, which was disappointing but would explain why the bugs persist. It's obvious that the original code was so terrible that it can't easily be fixed. If they did throw it away and rewrite it then they obviously made at least some of the same mistakes again. There are no excuses here - the code is still atrocious but it's better than the original version. From the press releases it sounds like Ford was obligated to pay BSquare regardless and that goes back on whoever signed off on the contract from Ford in the first place. I'm sure they just trusted that BSquare would deliver good code because after all, they all used to work for Microsoft. That plus not having a backup plan for a new vehicle launch is where Ford screwed up.
  7. It's not always engaged but it's always active and monitoring for conditions that might require AWD such as wheels slipping or getting on the gas hard while turning, etc. If you're just driving normally on dry roads it should be in FWD mode 99% of the time.
  8. At a certain point the code gets so buggy that when you try to fix one thing it breaks 2 others. What they need is to throw away the current software and developers and start over.
  9. It's not a stand alone entertainment system - it's also integrated with the vehicle climate controls. It would probably take more effort than it's worth even if it could be done.
  10. It's worth a try but I'm not sure that Ford has much authority over the military sales program.
  11. Did I say they weren't? Of course they are - they're responsible for everything ultimately. I also have 25+ years in IT including software development. I also worked on outsourced contracts. Every piece of code they've gotten from Bsquare and Microsoft has had bugs. At one point I heard the bug list was at 1500. What good does it do to turn down the code delivery when the next version will also have bugs? They are making progress with each release - however slow the progress may be. So there really isn't a choice - they have to do whatever they can do until the entire thing can be rewritten. Ford is obviously not experienced with large IT projects and not experienced with outsourcing and they're getting screwed by their vendors. Yes, it's their responsibility because they hired them but now that they're in it there really isn't a good way out short of a total rewrite. They also spent a great deal of time testing this new rewrite with employees before releasing it a few months ago but there are still problems. Of course they are and if they still have a job you can bet they won't be in charge of the next project.
  12. The current version was advertised (or rumored at least) as a total rewrite but that wasn't the case. Someone on another board said the next version would be based on Windows 8. Ford hasn't announced anything as far as I know but it makes sense that they'd be working on a new version based on a new OS.
  13. The new version was out for a couple of days but got pulled. It does put the temp back in the main screen.
  14. It doesn't. It exists at Bsquare and apparently Microsoft. It's all outsourced. The ineptness at Ford was in picking Bsquare to start with. Apparently they screwed up the code so bad even microsoft is having trouble fixing it. It also contains a lot of bug fixes, not JUST the outside temp. Again - they don't work for Ford and that's a big part of the problem. They have a contract with Bsquare and that's hosing them big time. I can pretty much guarantee bsquare won't be involved in the next generation of MFT. Can't argue with that. This is a huge fiasco.
  15. If it's bad take it to the dealer and ask to have the bumpers repainted under warranty. It is a common problem and if the service manager agrees it shouldn't be a problem to get it fixed.
  16. If it meets the Ford spec it's perfectly fine but I'm not sure if it does. The spec is in your owner's manual. If you don't use the proper spec oil and you have a lubrication related failure then Ford may not cover it but there is no such thing as "voiding the warranty" outright.
  17. Try pulling the fuse for the radio to see if it resets. There is no fuse for the steering wheel. If it was just flaky I'd say it was the clock spring in the steering wheel but this sounds like a radio problem.
  18. Yes they test it. They know exactly how many bugs are in it but for some reason they've been unable to get all the bugs out yet. Or I should say Microsoft and BSquare haven't been able to get out all the bugs. It's a fiasco and I'm sure they're looking to start over from scratch for the next version.
  19. There is no difference in the software between 2011, 2012 and 2013 models.
  20. The original version of MFT had the temp up until the new code release this spring which removed it. The 2013 vehicles got the new code so it was missing. Now it will be added back when you do the update. That's been reported over and over and over.
  21. syncmyride.com motorcraftservice.com -> owners guides -> myfordtouch supplement (if it's not there for the Escape try a 2012 Focus - should work basically the same way)
  22. Possibly. I'm building bathroom vanities and mirrors so it depends on where I'm at in the process. Ping me on FB and let me know when and where.
