  1. You can see here in the 2021 the door under the screen is gone. Just a gaping open space.
  2. It still has the pad just no door to close it off. They stopped adding the door above the screen in 2020. The dash looks weird with a random dent there and it loses that hidden storage functionality
  3. Happy I have a 2018 build 2019 model. Still have the engine cover, top dash door and even the CD player. the 2021 gets that big ole screen big gives up the bottom console door where the charging pad is, spare tire even without the performance brakes as well as all the manual climate control buttons.
  4. If you shut the engine off it automatically shifts to park. If you open the door while in drive it will give a chime and show "Transmission not in park" on the cluster display.
  5. I just have the factory ST hitch. That is roughly where I get it to occasionally work but usually on the left side only. I think whatever proximity sensors they used are a mixed bag.
  6. I'm sure weight matters but the 8F35 is rated to 350NM torque. Without even considering vehicle weight. The 2.3 in the focus ST makes 420NM. Ford only offered it with a manual likely partially for that reason and the non ST still gets a regular 8F35. The only other transmissions capable of handling that torque are longitudinal. Ford isn't a company to develop a transmission solely for use on a single 40K vehicle sold in a limited region. They either beefed up a 8F35, used a 8F57 derived trans or modified a 6DCT450 (dual clutch) for the Focus ST.
  7. The 2.3 actually is pretty strong. 276hp and 309 f/lbs. torque. 55 less hp and 71 less torque. It makes more than the 8f35 is rated for.
  8. The UK ford focus ST also gets a new 7 speed auto https://www.carscoops.com/2020/06/ecoboost-powered-ford-focus-st-gains-7-speed-automatic-transmission-option/
  9. I have practiced and gotten it to work with more of a slow kick straight under the bumper to the left of the hitch. It never works in a real world application though... only in my garage when I'm testing to see if its broken lol. I haven't met anyone in person who has actually gotten the system to work when they needed it. Its become a bit of a joke and not just Fords system.
  10. I'm waiting to find out also. Hopefully someone at Ford can shed some light on it at some point.
  11. https://www.transmissiondigest.com/ford-motor-company-and-the-hat-trick/ Its not speculation. the 8F35 cant handle the torque and nor cant the transmission it was derived from. Ford developed them simultaneously. As for the dropping of the gear, so far it could even just be a typo for all we know. But the chances it was dropped due to complaints and difficulty developing a solid shift logic is highly likely.
  12. WOW they got rid of the stupid non working kick gate. "Power Lif tgate replaced Hands-Free Foot Activ ated Lif tgate on STLine and standard on ST (400A)" New owners wont know the joys of standing in the rain with arms full of groceries bashing your shin against the hitch trying in vein to get it to open. Also no more media bin door????? the door to the compartment with wireless charger? No more panoramic roof in the 400A package and no more color magnetic?
  13. Its simply due to the peak torque handling of each design. The new GM trans cant take the 2.7L torque while the older 6F55 was plenty capable.
  14. I haven’t seen much difference in 0-60 but C&D had it at 5.7 to 60 which I feel is quite good considering it’s heavier than the sport. They used harsh wording that criticized it for the same things they praise other brand vehicles for. Without perspective the review looked bad but there was an awful amount of bias in their article that just made it look bad for no reason. This is no tune. Full tank of 93 with worn out all seasons and a 180lb passenger.
  15. I don't think a longitudinal mounted V6 would fit in the CD4 platform.. Also the 10 speed wouldn't fit under the car with a transfer case and front differential. I would love to see someone mod one but it would probably be easier to make an explorer simply look like an edge.
  16. I wouldn't think they get very hot. They are faux.... I think they might even be plastic or at least plastic "chromed". The real tip is significantly recessed
  17. Really just the exhaust tips.
  18. This was a very common issue at one point. Mine also would lurch when shifted to Drive. As if it was low on trans fluid but with less delay. 1st TSB fixed that for me back in early 2019. Other issues came with later software builds... the "bang" into drive/reverse, shift flares into 3rd/4th, delayed downshifts. Latest software resolved most for me.
  19. Yup modern cars have no mechanical interface between driver and power-train. The shift selector is all electronic and operator input is run through the PCM before any drive-line output is performed. Sport mode is unrelated since it is not a gear selection. The button just happens to be in the center of the shift wheel but could just as well have been placed on the steering wheel or the dash. Think opposite of eco-mode in other models.
  20. It was a bit of a fight as the car was brand new and they had not yet serviced the 8F57 yet. It front from a shift solenoid to the TSB flash then to the TCC lockup solenoid which led to an entire torque converter replacement. The tread below has the entire history... its quite a read.
  21. 10886 miles on my 2019. Had the torque converter replaced due to lockup failure resulting in a bad buck at 2-3 shift and every TSB applied for the trans shifting. Other than that I have not had any issues.
  22. First thing i noticed also. I went from a Gen 1.5 (2011) though.
  23. I love the stop start feature. I even will roll down the windows and endure a bit of heat rather than run the A/C and have climate control force an early re-start while sitting at a traffic light. Ill sit and hold the brake down rather than put it in park when dropping off a passenger for a quick errand too. Tip: To avoid the auto stop and restart when shifting to park just turn off the car without going to park. it will automatically shift into park.
  24. I wanted to go but only the Park City location was open at the time and its pretty far from CT. There aren't many flights and flight times mean I would have had to spend 2 extra days out there. Driving was not an option as the drive would take longer than the entire event.

    New ST-Line

? German megabrew vs American megabrew = German all day. But in terms of all beer (micro/macro breweries) Americans have the best beer in the world.
