  1. You can definitely buy rotors and pads much better than the performance option.
  2. Listening to others complaints I realized that mine is somewhat unique also. It was not a shifting delay or laziness. My car has a jerking/bucking motion at low steady speed after shifting into 3rd. Now that I think of it its right when the TC would lock up. It has always had a hard lockup almost like shifting into another gear. I have a 2002 F250 diesel that had a similar issue due to the TC solenoid being submerged in trans fluid and the fluid being excessively dirty causing the solenoid electronics to short. It got bad enough to go into limp mode. I suspect with more time the edge would eventually trigger a fault when RPMs don't drop or it flares during the bucking. The bucking is violent enough to spill drinks in the car.
  3. Dealer just called me and said they were instructed by Ford to disconnect the TCC solenoid and test it for the same condition and it no longer bucks. So now they have a new torque converter on order. Sucks they are going to disassemble my car to that degree.
  4. I also miss the source button from my 2011. The right menu works but requires more concentration.
  5. Car is back at the dealer again. This time I have a loaner Explorer so they can hold onto it for longer and try and figure out whats really happening. I still suspect the TSB was not properly performed but Ill give them a chance to figure it out. I took it on a 300 mile round trip to cape cod over the weekend and noticed it is also doing some weird shifting under heavy throttle when passing traffic. From 8th gear it will downshift seemingly too far, redline and hold. The 2.7 doesn't seem to breathe well at redline and falls on its face. I have to manually shift up a gear and it takes off like a rocket.
  6. If they really change the dash to be more like the explorer I’m glad I got the 2019. I really hate the new interior design Ford is using. I much prefer the clean look of the gen1.5-2
  7. My 2011 Sport had 500 miles on it when I got it. It had been driven from NJ to NY to CT and likely demoed. Never had any drivetrain problems with that car.
  8. 4 miles on mine. That was after they drove it across the street and down the road from the transport truck. Salesman even said it was the lowest miles he had ever seen.
  9. I dropped my car off at the dealership again. They test drove it and again were able to reproduce my concern. They created a log file and captured the bucking and found that its happening while holding 3rd gear. They are saying it is not during the 2-3 shift but after rather. Now they are waiting response from Ford as to the recommended work-scope.
  10. I wont say it doesn't work. I know little to nothing about that specific company. They do at least say they require vehicle manufacture and model for a custom tune so who knows if it has any real benefit. I'm guessing it will at the very least adjust the throttle response to make it feel more peppy. I wouldn't bet on much else though.
  11. Have you gone to the dealer yet? I would bet it also isn’t making the power it should. What is the peak boost you have seen?
  12. If they really offer that much and you have any money at all to put down you could potentially have a cash sale or very very little financed. I suspect they will try and get you on the ST though. People are getting them in the high 30s when you add all available incentives. Unfortunately taxes and all that will hurt though.
  13. See if the hood stops bumpers are adjustable. Usually that can be twisted in our out to adjust for any slop. I haven’t checked mine but that is where I would look first.
  14. I believe both systems will work simultaneously. I don’t use lane keep though so I can’t confirm for sure.
  15. I found that while resting my hand on the wheel I tend to force it to compensate for the light steering input i create. It will feel like it’s fighting me a bit to favor one side of the lane. If you remove your hands completely it will find center again.
  16. There are 2 systems. Lane keep will basically bounce you off the lanes without any attempt to center. It is activated by the button on the turn signal stock. It can be used without cruise control on. Lane centering is the system that keeps you centered in the lane. It is used only when cruise control is on and can be activated or deactivated With the button on the steering wheel. They both work very well for me.
  17. So front is on the right. So visible components from right to left Reduction gearbox -> Front case / Air inlet -> Rear inlet with accessory drive -> Low pressure compressor section with diffuser (all the tubes you see that look like headers) -> Gas gen case and combuster assy -> Power turbine case and exhaust assy The tubes you asked about feed the centrifugal high pressure compressor. You find these engines in planes like the Bombardier Q400 (DHC-8 Dash 8) and Dornier 328
  18. We overhaul the CH-53 fold hinges and rotor spindles. Always awesome to see them in action. We also do a large variety of commercial airline equipment for turbo fan and turbo props.
  19. Yes the 8F35 is based on the GM/Ford 9 speed. The 8F57 is based on the older 6F55
  20. I really believe your issue should be addressed by your dealer. I got low 16mpg when brand new with countless hours idle (showing off the car to friends and family). Also was warmed up daily for the entire winter. It went from 16 flat to 16.8 or so while just idle after resetting it, taking a short drive across town and idling it until it shut itself off. Now with 2000 miles and only 1 real highway trip of 300 miles it displays over 18mpg. My daily commute is 2.7 miles each way and I sometimes go home for lunch. I also use sport mode often and drive like an idiot when the traffic allows.
  21. How is it wrong by any definition? The current standard is only lenient to include idle time to consider real world driving. Miles per gallon is exactly that. But they don’t include time idle with the car in park. They simulate a several types of drives only but stop short of waiting for the kids at school or leaving the car running while you buy lotto tickets. The inclusion of the stop/start system was to minimize time idle but with the car in park it obviously doesn’t work. You are arguing against the literal definition of the entire premise. EPA realizes people have to stop/accelerate and cruise and test under multiple conditions in an attempt to best simulate this. Ford maybe with the understanding of this include some idle data in the MPG calculation to best simulate EPA ratings otherwise people would complain even more if the car read 30% better than real world per tank averages.
  22. They also don’t shift the car to park or warm it up with a remote start. You have been complaining about your mileage for weeks with no one helping you and I’m trying to offer some sort of counter logic. You don’t seem to care about the fact that you are calculating a real world scenario and comparing it to a controlled condition rating. Also what you are doing when calculating total tank is NOT MPG. It never has been and never will be. They do not test with the vehicle not in drive. This will reduce idle times more than you might imagine. https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/fe_test_schedules.shtml
  23. It Is not giving mpg. It would be miles per tank which is a more generic average. To resolve back to miles per gallon implies that it is plotting only fuel used while in motion. EPA testing is defined. I’ll look up exactly how they test it later when I have time but I’m sure it will be limited accessories. IMO it is useless because idle time fuel usage is completely useless data since the intent of the function is to determine how many miles you can travel on a gallon of gas.
  24. If that is the case then it is as useless as a hand calculation if you are disabling stop/start or using sport mode. Other variables are also unavoidable such as electrical system load. I’m sure EPA testing isn’t done with heated seats/wheel on, blower on high or music thumping on the 800watt system.
